Dillon Motor Speedway Readies For PASS South’s 3rd Annual South Carolina Clash

Dillon Motor Speedway Readies For PASS South's 3rd Annual South Carolina Clash

CHARLOTTE, NC (July 29) – As race fans and Pro All Stars Series (PASS)
South Super Late Model drivers head into South Carolina for race
number eight of the 2008 season, chances are they will see a sign
welcoming them to the state. Many of those signs will read WELCOME TO
SOUTH CAROLINA…SMILING FACES, BEAUTIFUL PLACES!

Well, that saying could not be more fitting for what will greet the
PASS South Super Late Models to Dillon Motor Speedway for the 3rd
Annual South Carolina Clash. A beautiful facility, great race fans,
fast PASS South Super Late Models, and a beauty queen look to make
this one of the more festive stops on the 2008 schedule. But, before
we look forward to this weekend, let's look back at the first two
runnings of the South Carolina Clash.

The first incarnation of the South Carolina Clash was held at the then
newly repaved Florence Motor Speedway in 2006. And, for those who
were there, it would be a race none would soon forget. First off,
former two-time NASCAR All Pro Series champion Hal Goodson made his
return to Super Late Model competition driving his familiar blue #16
at one of the tracks that he cut his teeth on. Secondly, the race was
an absolute slugfest. As a matter of fact, only five cars were
running at the finish. That's right, five cars! In the end, the late
Charlie Bradberry outlasted veterans Mike Rowe and Freddy Query to
take the win in that first South Carolina Clash. The race would prove
be Charlie's last major Super Late Model win. He would lose his life
in a fatal highway accident just four months later after leaving
Talladega Superspeedway. Bradberry was only 24.

The 2nd running of the South Carolina Clash moved from the Pee Dee
Region of the state to the Upstate and the Anderson Motor Speedway. A
great field of PASS South Super Late Models attended, but the race
ended up being a battle between Ryan Lawler and former Anderson Motor
Speedway track champion Gary Greenwood. Lawler led from lap 33 to lap
108 when he was passed by Greenwood. Greenwood, exhausted by the hot
South Carolina sun, could not hold on and was passed back by Lawler
just two laps later. Lawler held on for his second win of the 2007
season and would eventually go on to become the PASS South champion

This year's South Carolina Clash returns to the Pee Dee and looms to
be one of the most unpredictable yet. Only a handful of drivers have
ever raced or tested at the oddly shaped Dillon Motor Speedway. Turns
one and two are fairly broad while turns three and four are extremely
tight on the 4/10 mile track. No wonder…the track was originally
graded in the 1960's by the same person who built the Darlington
Raceway, Harold Brasington.

Alex Haase, along with his PASS South car owner Kyle Busch, tested at
Dillon earlier this year and that could prove to be an advantage for
them. PASS South points leader Corey Williams looks to bounce back
from a disappointing run at Orange County's Southern Sizzler. Perhaps
the driver with the most to gain is Perry Brown. Brown enters the
South Carolina Clash third in points with a win earlier this year at
Georgia's Watermelon Capital Speedway. Why is that important? Many
drivers have said that Dillon and Watermelon Capital have very similar
characteristics. Another driver hoping to prove himself is local hot
shoe Jason Calhoun. Calhoun has numerous SuperTruck and Late Model
wins at Dillon and will be piloting the #0 driven earlier this year by
Strom Altman. PASS South regulars Heath Hindman, Mark Gibson, Alex
Fleming, Justin Wakefield and Logan Ruffin will all be seeking their
first wins of 2008.

In addition to the PASS South Super Late Models competing in the South
Carolina Clash, Dillon Motor Speedway will give back to their local
fans as they always do. Teen Miss South Carolina Leslie Hanna will be
on hand to sign autographs and serve as the Grand Marshal for the
South Carolina Clash. Miss Hanna will give the command to start
engines and will present trophies to Saturday night's winners. Also,
in action will be the SuperTrucks, Chargers, and Street Stocks. And,
during intermission fans will get to participate in the "Penny
Pincher" race.

Action will kick off on Friday, August 1st with practice for the PASS
South Super Late Models. On Saturday, August 2nd, PASS South Super
Late Models and local divisions will be allowed to practice. PASS
South qualifying will be at approximately 5 PM, with racing at
approximately 7 PM. Dillon Motor Speedway is located in Dillon, SC,
just off Interstate 95 exit 191 on SC Highway 9.

WISCASSET RACEWAY PRESS RELEASE 7/28/08

LANDRY AND YOUNG DOUBLE DOWN AT WISCASSET RACEWAY

Oakland's Mike Landry and Windsor's Maurice Young took full
advantage of the double weekend of action at Wiscasset Raceway and
both drivers came away with a pair of wins each to establish
themselves as the driver to beat in their respective divisions. The
victories highlighted a busy weekend of action at Maine's "Center of
Speed" with a special double point anniversary show Saturday night and
a makeup program Sunday afternoon. For Landry, Sunday's win in the 75
lap main event qualifier for the Unicel Super Streets guaranteed him a
starting spot in the $10,000 to win Super Street / Sportsman Nationals
at Wiscasset in early October. He took the lead on lap 68 following
the 7th caution of the race and held of Josh St Clair and RJ Austin
for the win and the $750 payoff. It was his second win of the weekend
and division high 4th of the season. Landry, the division's only
repeat winner, was most happy to secure his spot in the big race. "I
ain't concerned about the 750 bucks" he told Travis Barrett of
Green-White-Checkers. "I want to make sure I'm there to win the ten
grand, or atleast have a chance to win the 10 grand." Following post
race inspection Austin was bumped up to the runnerup position and
"Cowboy" Dan Trask to 3rd. Trask hadn't raced at the track since May.
6-time track champion Maurice Young also nailed down a pair of
convincing wins in the Keystone Automotive Strictly Streets over the
weekend, picking up his track high 5th & 6th victories of the year.
Saturday night's show was a special program sponsored by Lester Morse
Auto Sales & Self Storage and Ames True Value Supply as the White
family celebrated their first anniversary at the helm of the track.
Thousand of dollars of prizes were given away including free gasoline
from Wiscasset Quick Stop, kids bicycles & scooters, gift certificates
and logowear. Other winners Saturday evening included veteran Jeff
Burgess of E. Madison taking the win in the 50 lap feature for the
Clark's Car Crushing Prostocks. It was the first win of the year for
the driver who finished as the division runnerup in 07'. He was joined
in victory lane by John Phippen and Scott King; however King's car
failed post race inspection, turning the 3rd place trophy over to
defending champ Scott Moore. Phippen would take the division point
lead with his 2nd place finish and Randy Turner experiencing late race
troubles to finish 12th. Jason Witts of Dixmont started on the outside
of the front row in the 30 lap feature for the Smith Construction Late
Model Sportsman and survived a handful of midrace cautions to pick up
his first Wiscasset victory. Peter Oakes of Boothbay moved up from 8th
to finish 2nd and defending champ Chris Thorne, who was involved in
one of the cautions, raced his way back up to a 3rd place finish. In
Mike Landry's 25 lap victory Saturday night in the Unicel Super
Streets, he was joined in victory lane by Brian Fortin and point
leader Allan Moeller. For Fortin, it was a personal best finish. While
the 20 lap win in Keystone Automotive Strictly Streets went to Maurice
Young, Bath's Ian Bresnahan would take home the runnerup trophy and
Wiscasset's Bobby Mesimer was 3rd. The 20 lap feature in the Aable
Auto Parts Mini Stocks was won by Mac Hannan Jr of Union with Ryan
Ripley of Thomaston and Shawn Kimball of Pittston taking 2nd and 3rd.
The official finish of the 15 lap feature in the White and Bradstreet
Mini Trucks didn't match what transpired on the track. Biddeford's
Chad Binnette rolled to his 3rd checkered flag in as many tries this
season, but his truck failed post race inspection, turning the victory
over to Chris Doucette. Jaime Foster also failed post race inspection,
bumping up Russ Anderson and Opie Allard into the 2nd and 3rd place
positions. In Sunday afternoon action Chuck Colby picked up his 2nd
win of the season in the 50 lap feature for the Clark's Car Crushing
Prostocks with Scott Moore and Jesse Smith joining him in victory
lane. Maurice Young's Sunday win in the 20 lap Keystone Automotive
Strictly Streets was unfortunatly overshadowed by an altercation
between driver Jeff Merrill and track officials following a penalty
against the driver late in the race. When the dust cleared and order
was restored the race was completed and Ed Pierpont and Bobby Mesimer
joined Maurice Young to claim the 2nd and 3rd place trophies. 13 year
old Ryan Ripley, grandson of 3-time Wiscasset champ Doug Ripley,
picked up his first win in the 20 lap feature for the Aable Autoparts
Mini Stocks. The win followed up his runnerup finish the night before.
Previous night podium finishers Mac Hannan and Shawn Kimball each
failed post race inspection and as a result, Natasha Dyer of Arrowsic
picked up a personal best 2nd place finish and Mike Dulaney of
Richmond a season best 3rd. There was also a another big shake up in
the official finish of the 15 lap White & Bradstreet Mini Trucks
Sunday afternoon. Three of the top four finishers faile post race
inspection including apparent winner Don Giggey, giving the win over
to Russ Anderson of Portsmouth, NH and the other trophies to James
Swan of Clinton and Josh Harjula of Boothbay.

Wiscasset Raceway returns to action Saturday August 2nd with
action in all six weekly racing series divisions and sponsored by
Motor Supply Co. Green flag flies on the action at 5:00pm. For more
information, call the Wiscasset Raceway office at (207) 882-4271 or
check the track's website at www.wiscassetraceway.info.

New faces in PASS Mod victory lane at Riverside

New faces in PASS Mod victory lane at Riverside

Bill; Dixon drove around Scott McDaniels with nine laps remaining to
earn his first Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Mod win at Riverside
Speedway Saturday night.. McDaniels raced home second and Ron Henry
finished third. It was the first PASS Mod podium finish of 2008 for
all three drivers.

McDaniels looked like he might be in line for his first PASS win,
leading thirty-one laps after winning his heat race and starting on
the pole for the forty lap feature. With heat two winner Greg Ellis
along side, McDaniels, Ellis and Dixon raced nose to tail at the
half-way mark with Ron Henry fourth and Andy Shaw fifth. Four time
2008 PASS Mod winner Mark Lucas was charging up through the field but
a flat left rear sent him to the pits; he returned to the speedway one
lap down.

Ellis got shuffled back on the outside to fifth on a lap 23 restart,
and a spin by Sulo Burbank on lap 26 collected both Ellis and point
leader Tom Oliver. All three drivers retired for the night.

McDaniels kept the field at bay on the restart and Ron Henry raced
past Andy Shaw to claim third. Dixon was hot on McDaniels' heels,
looking for a way around for the lead. Dixon got his chance on lap 31
and the veteran racer went on to capture the victory.

The PASS Mods take a few weeks off before returning to the track at
Wiscasset on Sunday August 17th for the Toyota Tundra 250 weekend at
Wiscasset Raceway.

Johnny Clark’s back in PASS North victory lane at Riverside Speedway

Johnny Clark's back in PASS North victory lane at Riverside Speedway

Naples ME (July 27,2008) Johnny Clark took the high road around a
fading Cassius Clark on lap 99 and led the final 31 laps to win the
Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Summerfest 150 at Groveton New Hampshire's
Riverside Speedway. The victory was the second of 2008 for the two
time PASS North Super Late Model Champion. Travis Benjamin, Derek
Ramstrom, Ben Rowe and Adam Bates completed the top five in the rain
shortened event that took the checkers at lap 130.

Cassius Clark looked like he'd be tough to beat in the first two
thirds of the race .Lining up third behind the front row of Derek
Ramstrom and Alan Wilson, he raced under Ramstrom for the lead on lap
five. The field stayed green for sixty one laps and Clark was clearly
in control, his EJ Prescott Fusion hooked up on the bottom and pulling
away from the field.

Meanwhile, the skies were darkening and the crossed flags that would
signify a completed feature were approaching. At the seventy five lap
mark it was Cassius Clark, Alan Wilson, Ramstrom and Kelly Moore first
through fourth; Johnny Clark had raced his Clark's Car Crushing Chevy
up to fifth from his twelfth place spot on the starting grid. The pace
picked up as the black clouds approached, and the front of the field
shuffled on a lap 80 restart. Ramstrom got by Wilson to regain the
second spot and Johnny Clark shot up to third with Wilson now fourth
and Travis Benjamin fifth.

At lap 90 Cassius had pulled out to a ten car length lead but Johnny
was charging, taking the outside line around Ramstrom for second.
Suddenly the field was reeling Cassius in. Johnny drove around him
unchallenged for the lead on lap 99; Cassius had lost a power steering
belt, ending a strong run that looked like his best shot at a 2008
PASS North victory to date.

Travis Benjamin had the leader in his sights and went around Ramstrom
for second on lap 106, but Clark maintained a solid lead to the
checkers and Benjamin would be denied his first PASS victory once
again. Alan Wilson's great run came to an abrupt end on lap 128, the
victim of a flat tire that sent him spinning off turn four. Ben Rowe
nipped Adam Bates for fourth at the finish, a great come back after a
heat race miscue forced him to start eighteenth.

Derek Ramstrom and Alan Wilson each won heat races. D.J. Shaw was the
rookie of the race, finishing eleventh after starting nineteenth.

The PASS North Super Late Models return to All-Star Speedway in Epping
New Hampshire Wednesday evening July 30th for the rain –postponed

fast 4s, fast 8s and Classic Lites. Gates open at 5:00 PM, the racing
goes green at 7:00 PM and the All-Star 200 will take to the track at
approximately 8:00 PM for 200 green flag laps of Super Late Model
thunder and lightning.

'Lightning' thunders to first win of season, Spencer's 25th at OPS

'Lightning' thunders to first win of season, Spencer's 25th at OPS

OXFORD, Maine - The reborn paint scheme of motion picture race car
Lightning McQueen caught just about every fan's eye when Dennis
Spencer Jr. rolled onto the track Saturday night at Oxford Plains
Speedway.
As for Spencer, he thought the prettiest sight of the evening was the
one in his rear-view mirror.
With Travis Stearns and Daren Ripley dicing it out side-by-side for
some 20 laps and holding back Shawn Martin in the process, Spencer was
untouchable on the way to his first 40-lap Oxford Networks Late Model
victory of the season.
It was Spencer's 25th career checkered flag at the track where he
began racing as a high school student in the early 1990s. Only 33
drivers have achieved that milestone.
"I could see them going side-by-side in my mirror, so I stayed on the
bottom and took it easy," said Spencer.
Twin 30-lap features for the Allen's Coffee Flavored Brandy Mini Stock
division provided the bookends for a busy program.
The same top three of Justin Karkos, Kevin Bishop and Ken Daigle Jr.
appeared on the victory podium in each race. Karkos led the trio in
that order for his division-leading fourth win of the season in the
opener. Daigle delivered his first career victor y in the nightcap,
one that met with a mixture of cheers and boos as he survived a run-in
with Bill Childs Sr. and held off Karkos and Bishop in a late run to
the finish.
Mike Short continued his blistering mid-season pace with a hard-earned
Allen's Strictly Stock win, his fourth of the season.
Jerry Goss and Steve Brill captured the 20-lap Chimney Tech Outlaw
features. Vanna Brackett shared the Agren Appliance Saturday Showdown
spotlight with a wire-to-wire win in the Allen's Ladies division.
Venerable Russ Nutting, whose last previous OPS win came in 1985,
emerged victorious in a 20-lap exhibition for the Wicked Good Vintage
Racing Association.

Spencer's Late Model rivals race for second
Spencer became the second different driver to win a Late Model feature
for car owners Conrad and Kerrie Childs this season. Kurt Hewins
accomplished the feat less than a month ago.
Ripley, who purchased Dale Verrill's racing operation lock, stock and
barrel mere hours after both drivers competed in last Monday's TD
Banknorth 250, dominated his heat and led the first green-flag segment
of the main event.
The two leaders swapped the advantage on laps 9 and 10 before Spencer
forged ahead to stay on lap 11.
Back-to-back restarts on the 13th and 14th circuits brought Spencer
back into the clutch of the hungry pack, but he soon set sail while
Ripley (inside) and Stearns (outside) dueled over the second20spot for
the duration.
"It makes it a little easier when you start near the front," said
Spencer, who took the green flag behind pole-sitter Ripley in the
third spot. "I was hoping nobody broke open to catch me, because then
I would've had to run hard."
Martin played the waiting game to perfection until Stearns finally
fought off Ripley with about five laps remaining. The 2004 champion
then wasted no time taking away third from Ripley and seizing second
from Stearns in the Bombardier/Oxford Networks #94.
"This car is awesome. I've got to hand it to my crew," Martin said.
"We've just hit on something. We had an awesome run in the 250 and had
an awesome run tonight. I'm happy to be up here with Travis and
Dennis, who are good friends of mine. Man. I wish we had another 10
laps. It was just getting faster as it went on. We were a little slow
on the short run but really fast on the long run."
Five days after a third-place finish in the last chance race kept him
out of the TD Banknorth 250 in his second try, Stearns rebounded with
one of his best runs in the headline division.
"We've been wrecked about every other week. I wasn't even going to
race tonight," Stearns said of his second trophy run of the season in
the Pride Concrete Floors/C.L.H. & Son #85. "It was pretty good. We
were just too tight and couldn't do anything with (Spencer). The20#70
(Ripley) ran me real clean. I'm pretty happy with that."
Spencer ran in the top 10 throughout the TD Banknorth 250, backing up
last year's fifth-place run in the Cole-Man's Concrete #8 with a ninth
in the #95.
Several crew members were enjoying a well-earned night away from
competition and were forced to hear about their driver's return to
victory lane second-hand.
"My father couldn't be here and Kenny Wills couldn't be here," Spencer
said. "We're working without a crew chief and a spotter, but we
managed to pull it together. It's a lot of work in the pits."
Ripley held on for his best OPS finish, fourth in the Pave-Tek #70,
trailed by Hewins .
Previous series point leader Ricky Rolfe, winner of five of his last
six weekly starts in the top division, sat out the race. He is on a
cross-country road trip with his family.
Travis Adams reclaimed the division lead with an eighth-place finish.
Martin is now second, a slim 24 points back.

Same top three, two dramatically different Mini results

Karkos continued his hot streak. After a roller-coaster month of June,
the Polymer Repair Technologies #51 has finished first or second in
his last four starts.
He kicked off the night with his division-leading fourth win of the
season, breaking a tie with Don Mooney for the top spot in the W
inner's Circle Challenge.
"I had a little bit of luck starting up front, since I didn't race at
the start of the season. I think it would have been a lot different if
I'd had to come from the back," said Karkos, whose points handicap was
lowered by a myriad of mechanical problems in those early starts. "At
least I'm getting noticed. I hear some people booing me."
Bishop charged to his best finish of the season in the Cole's Custom
Auto #08, with Daigle notching the first trophy of his rookie campaign
in third.
"Can anybody tell I'm hungry tonight?" said Bishop, referring to his
late pass of Daigle for the runner-up spot with four laps to go.
Winless in Championship Series competition since his first stint as a
Mini and Strictly driver in 1991-92, Bishop closed Karkos' gap to just
over two seconds but could only get a distant glance at his rear
bumper as the checkers appeared.
It inspired him to throw out another rhetorical question.
"Where was my yellow when I needed it?" Bishop asked. "We're going to
keep going as far as we can go."
Butch Keene and Darrell Moore completed the top five.
As for the yellow Bishop requested, it came with nine laps remaining
in the encore. The details simply didn't go his way.
Daigle lost the lead to Bill Childs Sr. on a lap 20=2 0restart. As the
leaders raced out of turn four to complete the 22nd circuit, Daigle's
front bumper brushed Childs from behind.
Childs spun and collected a passing Bill Thibeault, heavily damaging
both rides and sending Childs' #10 back to the garage on the business
end of a flatbed.
"I feel bad about that," Daigle said. "He's been good to me all year
long, and I definitely got into him and spun him. I didn't mean to do
it. I'll take the win, but I'm sorry that happened."
Because most of the field hadn't completed lap 22 when the caution
flew, the scoring reverted back to lap 21.
Daigle, who wasn't penalized for his role in the incident, crossed the
line second on that circuit and thus was scored as the leader.
"I thought he was involved, and that would mean he'd go to the rear,"
Bishop said of Daigle's role in the incident. "But that's race
control's decision, and I'll stand by that if they're willing to stand
by it."
Bishop had the first shot at Daigle on the restart. Karkos closed to
the leader's back bumper over the final five laps, but the newcomer
held on.
"He did a great job," Karkos said. "I know what a big deal that first win is."
Twice this season, Daigle surrendered the lead to Childs during the
final 10 laps of a Mini main event.
His victory is the first for car owner20Wayne Parkin's team since
Parkin himself steered the Le Nationale/Little Joe's #25 to the top
spot on July 3, 2003.
Moore finished fourth in front of Ashley Marshall as those two drivers
continue to battle for the series point lead. Marshall now leads by
four points, with Bishop third and within striking distance at 39
points off Marshall's pace.

Another second-groove clinic by Short

Short now leads all Allen's Strictly Stock drivers with four victories.
It took him five laps on the outside of Matt Williams to gain second
and another five to dispatch David Tripp, finally picking up the point
in the All-Purpose Builders #56 on lap 21.
"That's harder than I had to work all of last weekend," said Short. "I
have to thank Dave and Mr. Williams for some good, clean racing."
Tripp and the A.J. Levesque Excavation #20 topped Williams in the
tussle for second, backed by B.J. Chapman and Larry Emerson.
"It's going pretty good," said Tripp, who backed up his win earlier in
the month with the runner-up trophy. "Those guys have been back there
turning wrenches on it all day."
The same could be said for Williams' crew, who have wrestled with the
R.W. Plumbing #63 all season, helping their veteran driver to second
in the series point standings.
"Last weekend was a long weekend. I was glad it was over," Wil liams
said. "This is a shocker to me after the heat. It was just junk."
Skip Tripp maintained the division point lead, coupling his qualifying
race win with a seventh-place feature finish.
Short has won three of his last six starts since July 5.

No looking back for Agren Showdown winners

Steve Brill and Jerry Goss ruled two caution-free Chimney Tech Outlaw
20-lappers.
Brill hoped to hand over his ride to son Jon for the night. When told
that Jon was ineligible because he is a former Strictly Stock
champion, Brill roared to the lead on lap 2 and stormed to the victory
himself in the Dyer's Septic Service/Brill Lumber #53.
"I thought it would be a good idea to get up front and get the hell
out of there," Brill said.
Scott Ellis and Dennis Morang wound up at the front of a tight pack
behind Brill, second and third, respectively, for their best finishes
of the season. David Smith and Gerry Richard were next.
Goss took over from John Patria on lap 5 and extended his lead while
Rick Spaulding and David Childs worked the outside of early runner-up
Guy Childs Sr.
Spaulding crept within two car lengths but couldn't make the winning move.
"It was a good night to get out there and lead as early as I could,"
said Goss, who posted his second triumph of the season in the Dad's
Place #99.
Guy Childs held off nephew David for third at the stripe.
"This car is bent so bad," Guy Childs said. "I've got a new car, and
we've had all kinds of starter problems with it. I guess we had better
luck last year."
Patria picked up fifth, continuing his turnaround from a rough first
half to the season.
Reigning Allen's Ladies champion Vanna Brackett ran and hid from her
pole starting position and cruised to her third victory of the season.
"We never work on the car," claimed Brackett, who was chased to the
line by another former champion, Lisa Vining.
"I knew I didn't have anything for her," admitted Vining, who was
seeking her first win since her 2004 championship season.
Dottie Patria, currently the point leader on both Wednesday night and
in the Agren Appliance Saturday Showdown, couldn't make up the lost
early ground without a caution and settled for third. Lisa Brooks and
Kimberly Sessions followed.
OPS returns to action at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday with the Acceleration
Series. The New England Dodge Dealers Summer Celebration, featuring
five divisions of racing and a gigantic fireworks display, is Saturday
night at 6:30 p.m.

SPEEDWAY 95 NEWS RELEASE

July 26th, 2008

By Bill DaButler

(Hermon, Me) Budweiser night was held at Speedway 95 in Hermon on
Saturday, July 26th.

In the Pro-Limited heat race, Brenton Parritt of Steuben suffered
mechanical issues and had to leave the race, but hard work on the
vehicle between the heat and feature brought Parritt back out for the
feature race, where he took the lead early and held it to the
checkered flag. Last weeks feature winner Dale Swoboda crossed the
line for second, with Duane Seekins of Stockton Springs in third, in
the caution-free race.

Kris Watson was back on his game in the Super Streets earning the pole
and taking the win in the caution free feature. Greg Pung of Franklin
finished the race in third, and Travis Beale of Winterport grabbed the
third spot. Mike Overlock of Franklin managed to hold onto fourth
despite throttle problems in both the heat and feature race.

Heat race winner Jordan Pearson elected not to start in Strictly
Street feature race after a disagreement over a black flag penalty in
the earlier truck race, and as a result, lost his standing at the top
of the points standing. Wayne Parritt, Jr. of Steuben continued his
hot streak with another win, and moved to the top spot in the points.
Brad Norris of Ellsworth joined the winner's circle in second, with
Travis Poulin of Holden in third.

Steve Moulton of Glenburn picked up another win, making it two in the
row, after a passing Brownville's Roy Hathorn with a lap and a half to
go in the Sport-Four Feature. Hathorn was scored as second, and David
Shorey of Old Town finished third.

Jordan Pearson of Glenburn and Andrew Crosby of Hermon where running
side-by-side and rubbing hard, at lap 16 of the Full-Size Pick-up
race, when something had to give. Pearson got loose in the
backstretch, and got into Crosby, causing Crosby to spin out and draw
out the yellow flag. Assuming the move was intentional Crosby went
after Pearson under caution causing both to be black-flagged for the
night. Jim Carr, Jr. of Clifton picked up the win when the race
resumed, and Dana Harlow of Orrington took second with Crosby's father
Brett Crosby finishing third. Another competitor, Anthony Moore of
Brewer spin with just over one lap to go, and got out of his truck,
also drawing out a black flag for the night.

Kobyluck Runs Race of Patience For Adirondack Victory

Kobyluck Runs Race of Patience For Adirondack Victory

Beaver Falls, NY (July 27, 2008): Matt Kobyluck's 10-year
career in the NASCAR Camping World Series East has taught him about
one of the most important attributes a driver can possess: patience.
Saturday night, Kobyluck, driver of the #40 Mohegan Sun Casino
Chevrolet, used that virtue to his advantage when he took the lead
from Trevor Bayne on a lap 148 restart to win the Edge 150 at
Adirondack International Speedway. It was Kobyluck's second straight
win in as many weeks, and his third this season.

"There are 10 different guys that can win one of these
races every week. Anytime you can get a win is a huge accomplishment,"
Kobyluck said. "We're going for three in a row at Lime Rock!"

Kobyluck started the race from the seventh position and
was a top-five car throughout most of the event. In the final 25 laps,
however, Kobyluck came on strong and moved into second following a lap
136 restart. He took the lead on the final green-white-checker.

"When it got down to the end there, and it was time to go,
I thought I had a pretty decent car but I didn't think I had enough to
get by the 1," Kobyluck admitted. "I guess he had a problem on the
final restart there and I was able to get by him. I'll tell you, what
a battle. Trevor ran me clean, and everyone ran me pretty clean. There
was just a little bit of rubbing and nothing too dramatic out there.
It was good, hard short track racing. It was a good night of racing
for the fans."

The Mohegan Sun Casino race team is always a favorite at
Adirondack International Speedway. With two previous wins at the
track, Kobyluck knows how to get around the tricky ½ mile oval. Still,
the team changed their strategy for this race, and it paid off big.

"I look back at the years that we've ran here and I
wouldn't classify this as one of the best cars that we've had here,"
said Kobyluck. "I had a different strategy going into this race though
where I would conserve my right front tire. In past years we've ran
hard here and in the last stages of the race I hadn't had as much
right front to get through those last 15-20 laps. Tonight I kind of
laid back. I tried never getting myself to be on the outside on a
restart."

But it was the outside groove that paved the way for
Kobyluck's victory. On the final restart, Kobyluck was running second
to then-leader Trevor Bayne. Bayne appeared to miss a shift and
Kobyluck darted to the front. After taking the white flag, multiple
cars collided in turn four and blocked the track. NASCAR threw the
checkers with the caution flag and the Mohegan Sun Casino race team
secured the win.

"The outside groove I felt was the place to be on the
restarts because it had a ton of grip out there and I could get out
there and sail it right in. The track came around and was probably one
of the best it's been at anytime we've ever raced here," said
Kobyluck. "We're going for the championship this year so this is what
matters."

In eight starts this season, Kobyluck has a series leading
three wins, five top-five and seven top-10 finishes.

Kobyluck's weekend was capped off the following day when
his son, Kyle, won behind the wheel of a Junior Novice unrestricted
quarter midget at Little T Speedway in Thompson, Conn. It was Kyle's
first start in the unrestricted division.

"I won, Kyle won, and my wife Lori won a 50/50 raffle,"
said Kobyluck. "What a winning weekend! It doesn't get any better than
this."

The NASCAR Camping World Series East takes a two week
break and returns to action at Lime Rock Park on Saturday, August
16th.

OPS - Spencer storms to Late Model victory Daigle wins first in wild Mini finale

Spencer storms to Late Model victory Daigle wins first in wild Mini finale

"When I saw them battling back there, I knew it was good for me," said Spencer.
Spencer became the second different driver to win a Late Model feature
for car owners Conrad and Kerrie Childs this season. Kurt Hewins
accomplished the feat less than a month ago.
Series point leader Ricky Rolfe, winner of five of his last six weekly
starts in the top division, sat out the race. He is on a cross-country
road trip with his family.
Travis Adams reclaimed the division lead with an eighth-place finish.
Martin moved into second in the chase by driving around first Ripley,
then Stearns, over the final second laps to claim the runner-up
trophy.
Stearns was third for the best finish since his breakthrough Late
Model win in May. Ripley's fourth was the best of his brief OPS
career, while Hewins ran fifth.
Eight features highlighted a busy weekly card only five nights after
the TD Banknorth 250, where Spencer celebrated a top-10 finish for the
second straight year.
Twin 30-lap Allen's Coffee Flavored Brandy Strictly Stock features
were the primary supporting attraction.
Justin Karkos kicked off the night with his division-leading fourth
win of the season.
"I had a little bit if luck starting up front, since I didn't race at
the start of the season," said Karkos, whose points handicap was
lowered by a myriad of mechanical problems in those early starts.
Kevin Bishop charged to his best finish of the season, with Ken Daigle
Jr. notching the first trophy of his rookie campaign in third. Butch
Keene and Darrell Moore completed the top five.
The same trifecta topped the nightcap. This time, Daigle collected the
checkers for the first time in what some considered controversial
fashion.
Daigle lost the lead to Bill Childs Sr. on a lap 20 restart. As the
leaders raced out of turn four to complete the 22nd circuit, Daigle's
front bumper brushed Chidls from behind. Childs spun and was collected
by a passing Bill Thibeault, heavily damaging both rides.
Daigle, who wasn't
penalized for his role in the incident, crossed the line second on
that circuit and thus was scored as the leader.
Bishop had the first shot at Daigle on the restart. Karkos closed to
his back bumper over the final five laps, but the newcomer held on.
"He did a great job," Karkos said. "I know what a big deal that first win is."
Moore finished fourth in front of Ashley Marshall as those two drivers
continue to battle for the series point lead.
Mike Short now leads all Allen's Strictly Stock drivers with four
victories. It took him five laps on the outside of Matt Williams to
gain second and another five to dispatch David Tripp, finally picking
up the point on lap 21.
"That's harder than I had to work all of last weekend," said Short.
Tripp topped Williams in the tussle for second, backed by B.J. Chapman
and Larry Emerson.
Steve Brill and Jerry Goss ruled two caution-free Chimney Tech Outlaw
20-lappers.
Brill hoped to hand over his ride to son Jon for the night. When told
that Jon was ineligible because he is a former Strictly Stock
champion, Brill roared to the lead on lap 2 and stormed to the victory
himself.
"It was a good night to get out there and lead as early as I could,"
said Goss, who posted his second triumph of the season.
Guy Childs held off nephew David for third at the stripe. Patria
picked up fifth.
Reigning Allen's Ladies champion Vanna Brackett ran and hid from her
pole starting position and cruised to her third victory of the season.
"We never work on the car," claimed Brackett, who was chased to the
line by another former champion, Lisa Vining.
Dottie Patria, currently the point leader on both Wednesday night and
in the Agren Appliance Saturday Showdown, couldn't make up the lost
early ground without a caution and settled for third. Lisa Brooks and
Kimberly Sessions followed.
Venerable Russ Nutting, whose last previous OPS win came in 1985,
emerged victorious in a 20-lap exhibition for the Wicked Good Vintage
Racing Association.
OPS returns to action at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday with the Acceleration
Series. The New England Dodge Dealers Summer Celebration, featuring

Bobby Babb again and Frank Wear and Lewis Anderson first timers at Beech Ridge.

Bobby Babb again and Frank Wear and Lewis Anderson first timers at Beech Ridge.
By Dan Walker

Scarborough, Maine- Bobby Babb scored the NASCAR Whelan All American
Series 40 lap Pro Series win on Saturday night at Beech Ridge Motor
Speedway. Joining Babb in victory on the night were Frank Wear, Lewis
Anderson and Trevor Graffam.

The 40 lap Pro Series feature race saw Mike Maietta Jr in the early
lead with Steven Jones hanging in for second. Jones made a move for
the lead on lap 2 but Maietta Jr was still hanging to his outside.
The quest for victory ended on lap 5 for Jones when he spun while
leading sending Maietta Jr back to the front. Maietta held off T.J.
Brackett from laps 5 through 11 as Steve Carrier and Bobby Babb were
quickly coming to the front in the outside groove. On lap 20 Carrier
got to second place but that only lasted 1 lap because Babb went
flying past him on the next lap. Babb kept his foot in the gas
pedal still on lap 21 and disposed of Maietta as he took the lead.
Carrier and Maietta found themselves in a disagreement over space on
the track on lap 29 as Carrier got into Maietta and both cars spun.
The final restart would be entertaining as Babb and Brackett diced for
the lead but in the end again Bobby Babb drove to victory lane as
Brackett finished in a very solid second position. Dan McKeage was
third with Bub Bilodeau and Dave Oliver fourth and fifth.

Frank Wear earned his Sport Series win on Saturday night with hard
clean racing and a 5 lap duel to the finish with the division point
leader. Dave Lampron led the opening 10 laps and then he and Robert
Emery swapped the lead several times over the next 19 laps as the
first 8 cars raced side by side in 4 rows. The night once again would
end in disappointment for Emery on lap 29 as his car spun in turn 3
while battling for the lead.

On the restart Wear and point leader Sally Gherardi would square off
at the front of the field to settle the race. Wear inched into the
lead with Gherardi even to his outside. On lap 32 Scott Dorr riding
in third tried to move to the inside of the 2 leaders as Wear shut the
door not knowing he was there. The final 2 laps were contested
between Wear and Gherardi as they crossed the finish line in that
order. Don Morse was third and Nate Leavitt and Bradley Babb rounded
out the top 5.

Lewis Anderson showed in his heat race that if he kept his cool in the
feature for the first few laps he could win the Wildcat feature race
on this night. Anderson moved into the lead on the opening lap but a
caution on lap 4 slowed his progress to victory lane. When racing
resumed it was Anderson back to the front with Steve Benincasa on his
bumper. The race would stay green to the finish but all Anderson had
to do or not do, was look in his mirror and he would have seen 6 cars
side by side behind him. Anderson would keep the lead to the finish
to score a very popular victory for the low buck driver. Randy Snow
won the war for second place over Glenn Bradbury, Lyman McKeage and
Steve Benincasa. Rounding out the evening was Trevor Graffam
winning the 20 lap Road Runner feature race. Dave Cameron led until
lap 5 when Mark Boutin took over. Boutin was pulling away from the
field when suddenly he suffered a mechanical problem ending his race.
Graffam took over at that point and held off Ed Pierce for the win.
Shawn Brackett was third with Boutin pitting at the caution and
coming back to finish fourth. Dave Cameron ended up in the fifth
position.

CHARLOTTE, NC (July 25, 2008) – Every time it seems like somebody is
ready to step up and take control of the Pro All Stars Series (PASS)
South Super Late Model points standings, something happens that shakes
them up again. PASS South points leader Corey Williams started the
2008 season out much as he ended 2007 and that had competitors
worried. Williams won three out of the last six races of 2007 and
started out 2008 with a win at Hickory's Easter Bunny 150. While not
a shoe in for the championship, Williams has been the most consistent
PASS South driver and that's what has him leading the points.

Kyle Busch development driver Alex Haase had won two straight races
heading into the Southern Sizzler at Orange County and seemed poised
to make a run at Williams for the PASS South points lead. However,
Haase's Toyota was involved in an early accident at Orange County that
relegated him to a 24th place finish. Too bad for Haase since
Williams had a terrible night and only managed to finish in 17th place
himself.

Enter back into the championship fray Perry Brown. The Florida native
found himself as the early point leader following a surprisingly
dominant win at Watermelon Capital Speedway in Georgia. Following
Watermelon Capital, Brown quietly averaged a ninth place finish over
the next four races. Another ninth place finish at Orange County,
coupled with troubles for Williams and Haase, has allowed Brown to
leap back to second in PASS South points just 30 points out of the
lead.

Behind the trio at the top are several drivers still looking for their
first wins of the season and more overall consistency. Heath Hindman
appears to be the strongest of those drivers, but has struggled in the
last two races. Handling problems relegated Hindman to an eighth
place finish at Greenville-Pickens and, despite being viewed by many
as the car to beat in the Southern Sizzler, was involved in an early
accident and finished in 28th place.

Mark Gibson had back-to-back fourth place finishes at Wake County and
Greenville-Pickens, but was never a factor at Orange County and
finished 13th. Alex Fleming has without a doubt been the hard luck
driver of 2008. Fleming has led 57 laps this season and shown moments
of brilliance, but a combination of mechanical and on the track
problems have caused him to fall out of every race so far this season.
And, then there's Justin Wakefield. Again, a driver who has led a
lot of laps but has struggled to find the combination to make it work
every week. After leading at Motor Mile, Orange County's Orange
Blossom, and having the strongest car for much of the Firecracker 125
at Greenville-Pickens, Wakefield struggled throughout the Southern
Sizzler until a late charge gave him a sixth place finish.

The one thing that is clear is that the PASS South Super Late Models
are experiencing their most competitive season to date. There have
been five different winners in seven races with only Haase and Trevor
Sanborn winning more than once. Of the 66 drivers who have competed
in PASS South, 19 different drivers have led laps. Expect that trend
to continue as PASS South heads to Dillon Motor Speedway, a track the
series has never competed on.

PASS South will be in action again coming up on Saturday, August 2nd
for the third annual South Carolina Clash at the Dillon Motor
Speedway. Also in action will be the SuperTrucks, Chargers, and
Street Stocks. Dillon Motor Speedway is located in Dillon, SC, just
off Interstate 95 exit 191 on SC Highway 9.

Harvick takes $37,300 to the bank, takes 35th annual TD Banknorth 250

Harvick takes $37,300 to the bank, takes 35th annual TD Banknorth 250

OXFORD, Maine - The ringer arrived with bells on Thursday, waited out
a weekend awash with rain and basked in a deluge of adulation in TD
Banknorth 250 Presented By Nee England Dodge Dealers victory lane.
Kevin Harvick won the 35th annual summer classic at Oxford Plains
Speedway on Monday night, dominating the second half of the event and
becoming the first to carry the checkered flag as an active NASCAR
Sprint Cup driver.
The 32-year-old California native, a champion of both the Daytona 500
and Indianapolis 500, denied runner-up Glen Luce and third-place Joey
Polewarczyk Jr. the victory of a lifetime.
Just don't assume with his thick resume that Harvick puts this grass
roots short track win in small print.
"This race is a big deal," said Harvick. "You look at the history of
it and see names like Harry Gant, Jeff Gordon, and those true short
track drivers like Junior Hanley who have won it. Chuck Bown, too.
They can keep the check if they want. I wanted that trophy."
Harvick took the lead from early dominator Eddie MacDonald on a lap
126 restart. It followed a mid-race competition caution necessitated
by a wet pit road, giving everyone in the field a chance to change
tires and refuel safely.
MacDonald battled back to put a fender in front on lap 132 before
Harvick dived to the inside and returned the favor, forging ahead to
stay.
"Ever since we got here, people have been telling me you've got to run
the outside to win the race," Harvick said. "Then all weekend the
outside was slow as hell. Finally tonight, after about 60 or 70 laps
into the race, it was really good."
Luce was the comeback story of the night.
After racing into a qualified position in both his heat and
consolation race, only to fall from the top four due to bizarre
circumstances at the end of each, Luce led the second of three 20-lap
last chance races to make the starting grid.
He avoided falling a lap down to MacDonald's blistering early pace and
then stormed through the field after the mid-race caution.
Luce crept within about three car lengths with 30 laps remaining
before Harvick, seeming to sense that surge, turned up the wick.
"Finishing second to a guy like that is the same as a win for us,"
said Luce, 40, who has competed regularly at OPS for 20 years.
He embarked on a rookie-of-the-year effort this season on the
American-Canadian Tour, where he logged top-five finishes at Airborne
International Raceway (Plattsburgh, N.Y.) in May and his home track in
June.
"My dad (the late Glen Sr.) raced here in the 1960s. Tracy Gordon is
my step-brother. Mike Rowe is my ex-father-in-law," Luce said. "It's a
lot of tradition. We love this place. We just wanted to do something
different this year, go to some different places and get some
experience in these long races, and I think it paid off tonight."
Polewarczyk, who won the Dunkin' Donuts ACT 150 here last month, led
two laps and ran in the top five all evening.
He fell two spots shy of becoming the second teenager to win the TD
Banknorth 250. Tom Rosati was the same age, 19, when he prevailed in
1979.
"To be here at my age in this race is pretty unbelievable,"
Polewarczyk said. "We tried to make it for the first time last year
and didn't even qualify."
Shawn Martin was fourth for his best career finish in the 250,
followed by two-time race champion Ben Rowe.
Nicholas Sweet ventured into the top three before settling for sixth,
followed by Brent Dragon, MacDonald, Dennis Spencer Jr. and Randy
Potter.
MacDonald led 120 of the first 132 laps, cashing in $12,000 in lap
leader bonus money.
Tommy Ricker and Scott Robbins each briefly led the event before
MacDonald took over on lap 6.
Harvick started 11th. He's the third consecutive driver to win the 250
in his initial start, following Jeremie Whorff in 2006 and Roger Brown
in 2007.
"I won't be back next year, but I would love to come back," Harvick
said. "We always try to go to new tracks in parts of the country where
we haven't been, so that's what we'll try to do next year. But I can't
say enough about the way that we've been treated or these fans who
stayed all weekend. I don't think I've ever seen a bigger crowd at a
track on a Monday night."
For only the third time in its proud history, the TD Banknorth 250 was
not held on its scheduled day. Only five heat races were contested
Sunday before intermittent, day-long rains turned torrential and
halted the show.
Monday's resumed qualifying started at 2 p.m. and was complete at 4
o'clock, only to have another 3 1/2-hour rain delay muddle the works.
Bown's win in 1986 also was held on a Monday night.
Two local features wrapped up the intense, unforgettable weekend
shortly before the clock turned to Tuesday. Butch Keene (Allen's
Coffee Flavored Brandy Mini Stock) and Joe Hutter (Allen's Strictly
Stock) each celebrated their first win of the season.

SPEEDWAY 95 NEWS RELEASE July 19th, 2008

By Bill DaButler

(Hermon, Me) The Dysart's Pro-Limited Series ended its 2008 run with
its final race, under a full moon, Saturday, July 19th at Maine's
Family fun track, Speedway 95. Steuben's Brenton Parritt won the
series championship, despite a blown engine in the closing laps. Pole
sitter Parritt led through 3 cautions until lap 45, when his engine
blew, drawing out the caution. Due to a series of caution flags, black
flags, and race attrition, three cars remained on the track with 5
laps to go, only two of which were on the lead lap. Both lead lap
drivers elected to end the race, due to the oil left behind in the
wake of Parritt's blown engine. Dale Swoboda of Hermon was declared
the race winner, with Duane Seekins of Stockton Springs, in Second.
Parritt was honored with third place, and Deane Smart of Bradley,
although several laps down, was awarded fourth. Parritt's finish put
him in the front of the series points, earning him the championship in
the three race series.

Greg Pung of Franklin took over the top spot in the Super Street
division, at lap two when pole sitter and race leader Artie McGuire of
Bucksport blew his engine. Pung held the top spot through 5 more
cautions to lead ever lap and pick up the win. Winterport's Travis
Beale finished second, and Jeff Overlock, Jr. crossed the line for
third.

Wayne Parritt, Jr. of Steuben picked up the win in the Strictly Street
race, with almost a half-track lead over second place finisher Bradley
Norris of Ellsworth. Shawn Hamel of Bangor took home the third place
trophy in the caution-free event. With the win Parritt takes the
points lead away from Glenburn's Jordan Pearson, who drops back to
third in the standings 74 points behind Parritt, and 68 point shy of
Norris.

There were only two cautions in the Sport-Four race. It was Steve
Moulton of Glenburn who picked up the win. Defending champion Lewis
Batchelder of Dixmont entered the winters circle in the second spot,
and Jason Trundy of Old Town continued his second half of the season
hot streak in the third spot.

A caution early on put several drivers down one lap in the Full Sized
Pick-up Truck division. Jordan Pearson of Glenburn earned the race
win, with Dana Harlow of Hampden second. Jim Carr, Jr. of Clifton was
awarded third as the checkered flag flew. The win puts a comfortable
cushion between Pearson and the race of the division in the standings
with just 7 races remaining.

OPS - Home, sweet home for David Pinkham, car owner Greeley in True Value Mod 100

Home, sweet home for David Pinkham, car owner Greeley in True Value Mod 100

OXFORD, Maine - On a weekend when drivers converge upon Oxford Plains
Speedway from all six New England states and multiple Canadian
provinces, Maine bagged the first bragging rights with a victory that
was a dozen years in the making.
David Pinkham out-powered Late Model star Jean-Paul Cyr on a lap 85
restart and drove away his second career True Value Modified Racing
Series checkered flag with the Maine-Ly Action Sports 100.
Pinkham, who ended a 12-year absence from open-wheel racing three
summers ago by winning his TVMRS debut at his home track, Beech Ridge
Motor Speedway in Scarborough, snapped an identical drought from OPS
victory lane.
His last Oxford win came in a Pro Stock in August 1996. It was also an
emotional triumph for car owner Tom Greeley of neighboring Auburn.
"This car was sitting without an engine on Wednesday, nothing but a
bare block," Pinkham said. "Warren Johnson put it all back together.
We weren't going to miss this race for the world."
In another interesting twist, Pinkham borrowed the same car that Cyr
drove to second place and wheeled it in a race at Lee USA Speedway in
New Hampshire eight days earlier.
That team, owned by Gary Casella of Saugus, Mass., also provided the
transportation for Pinkham's initial True Value Mod triumph at Beech
Ridge.
"Jean drove a great race," said Pinkham, "but I was the last guy to
win a race in that car, so there was no way I was letting him win."
Cyr's car was the strongest all night during long green-flag
stretches. Three times, however, the seven-time American-Canadian Tour
champion lost the lead on restarts.
Kirk Alexander and Dwight Jarvis each swiped away the lead for a lap
or two before giving it back. Pinkham's third try was a charm.
It was still the best performance of the season for the Casella #25,
which has seen eight different drivers behind the wheel. Cyr, who does
have limited experience in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Series, made two
previous starts in Casella's car this season.
"He offered me the chance to drive it this afternoon," said Cyr. "I
thought he was a fool for asking, but I would have been a fool not to
take it."
Cyr closed his newfound deficit to two car lengths with five laps
remaining, but Pinkham maintained that advantage until the checkers.
Jarvis, a former champion of the series, was a strong third.
Jon McKennedy made a late charge after a lengthy mid-race battle for
position with Eddie Dachenhausen to grab fourth in front of Les
Hinckley.
Dachenhausen's departure due to an expired engine brought out the
fateful fourth and final caution with 15 laps to go.
Fifteen of the 18 starters finished on the lead lap.
Justin Karkos (Allen's Coffee Flavored Brandy Mini Stock) and Mike
Short (Allen's Coffee Flavored Brandy Strictly Stock) each matched the
leading total in their division with their third feature victories of
the season in supporting, 30-lap action.
Those classes kicked off their abbreviated doubleheader weekend after
friday's rainout.
Mayhem ensued over the final five laps of the Mini Stock main event.
Karkos was so far ahead of the confusion that it didn't matter.
"It looks like drama still continues here," said Karkos, who was in
the middle of many memorable victory lane sequences last season.
After taking the lead from Don Frechette on lap 6, Karkos crossed the
stripe nearly a half-lap ahead of Kevin Bishop in the Roy's All-Steak
Hamburgers/Polymer Repair Technology #51.
"Joe Decker painted the car this week. We wanted it to look like Rowdy
Busch's car," said Karkos, referring to NASCAR star Kyle Busch's alter
ego borrowed from a character in the racing movie "Days of Thunder."
"I've got to thank Rich Sirois. I bought this car off him. I've had a
lot of problems with it, but he stuck with it and helped me out."
Bishop moved into second when Frechette and Adam Polvinen tangled late
in the race.
"If I can get this thing running all four cylinders, all the way
around the track, we're really going to have something for them
tomorrow," said Bishop, whose runner-up trophy was his best effort of
the season to date.
Polvinen was penalized one lap for his role in the late activity.
Randy Kimball survived the scramble to collect third, the third podium
finish of his rookie campaign.
"I've got to thank my dad for giving me a job so I can afford to feed
this bad habit," Kimball said of his racing endeavors.
Rick Giguere moved up the ladder to a career-best fourth. Shane Kaherl
was next, posting his fourth top-five finish in his last five starts.
Championship leaders Darrell Moore (10th) and Ashley Marshall (15th)
both struggled on the night, with Moore borrowing a ride from his
cousin Matt simply to run the feature.
Short didn't have the benefit of a caution flag to bunch up a
spread-out Strictly field. The 1997 division champion conducted a
clinic in the outside lane at the helm of the All-Purpose Builders
#56, though, concluding that drive by dislodging Joe Hutter from the
top of the leader board on lap 21.
"I've got to give him credit for a good run,." Short said. "It was a
little slick out there tonight."
Hutter fell one spot shy of his first victory in three years. He has
run a partial season in the Brown's Construction #2, handing the reins
to Mike Blue for two races before returning to the fray.
Zach Emerson, separated only two seasons from a terrific championship
battle with Ben TInker in 2006, made his first appearance in the
victory lane photo all summer by holding off Matt Williams and Skip
Tripp in a seven-car battle for third.
"This is my third year with Ron Abbott Jr. (on my team), and I think
this is my first time up here in that time," Emerson said. "It's been
a long drought for all of us, and he works real hard."
The main attraction is on tap at 2 p.m. Sunday with qualifying for the
35th annual TD Banknorth 250. Eighty-three cars practiced Saturday in
anticipation of the race, which will pay up to $50,000 to the
champion.

Sixteen year old Corey Bubar shows the way with Beech Ridge Sport Series win.

By Dan Walker

Scarborough, Maine- Corey Bubar in just his first full season of
competition at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway took his first career
checkered flag on Saturday night in the 35 lap main event. Bubar took
the lead at the drop of the green flag and stayed there until a lap 6
caution flag slowed the field.

When racing resumed it was youth on display as Bubar and Bobby Nadeau
put on a side by side race that any veteran driver should have taken
notice in. For 22 laps Bubar and Nadeau stayed side by side with each
driver taking the lead on several different occasions.

Finally Bubar was able to pull to the front on lap 28 taking the
victory over Nadeau in second place. Current point leader Sally
Gherardi was third with Nate Leavitt and Scott Dorr fourth and fifth
at the finish.

Bobby Babb padded his Pro Series division point lead with another
feature win on Saturday night. Steven Jones and Chris Smith shared
the early lead until lap 9 when the 2 drivers made contact with each
other sending Aaron Ricker into the lead.

Ricker opened up some distance over the field until Dan McKeage took
aim at his lead position unsuccessfully following a lap 20 restart but
Babb was in position to pounce on the young driver. Babb went to the
outside groove and took the lead from Ricker on lap 30 and led the
final 10 laps for the win.

Ricker finished a solid second place with Bub Bilodeau third. Steve
Carrier and David Oliver rounded out the fourth and fifth place
finishers.

Gary Babineau won the 30 lap Wildcat feature race despite the race
being slowed by 5 caution periods. Steve Benincasa led early until
Richard Randall took over on lap 12. Babineau made his move to the
front on lap 17 following a restart and despite 3 more cautions
Babineau endured to take the win.

Lyman McKeage finished second with Randall finishing in the third
position. David Wildes is leading the points chase and place a fine
fourth with Paul Lund recovering from an early incident to finish
fifth.

Ed Pierce made a last lap pass to take the 20 lap Road Runner feature
race. Mark Sylvain appeared to be headed to the win until the leaders
caught slower traffic on the white flag lap. Sylvain hesitated and
then went low as pierce went to the high side and took the lead and
the win. Sylvain was second with Dan Bernier third. David Turner and
Mark Hill were fourth and fifth at the finish.

Four Time NASCAR BUSCH East Champion Andy Santerre to Compete in Peterbilt 250 New England Legend looking to contend for top prize in Labour Day Classic

Four Time NASCAR BUSCH East Champion Andy Santerre to Compete in
Peterbilt 250 New England Legend looking to contend for top prize in
Labour Day Classic

Fredericton, NB – The stage is starting to set for the 8th Annual
Peterbilt 250. New England Legend and Four Time BUSCH East Champion
Andy Santerre has announced his intentions on entering the Peterbilt
250.

Santerre last raced in 2005 where he wrapped up his 4th consecutive
NASCAR BUSCH East Championship (now dubbed the NASCAR Camping World
Series). Santerre holds the record for all time BUSCH East
championships with four (4). He was also the NASCAR Nationwide series
Rookie of the Year in 1998. In addition Andy won the NASCAR
Nationwide event at Pikes Peak in 1999.

In recent years Santerre has operated successful racing programs under
Andy Santerre Motorsports (ASM) out of Harrisburg, North Carolina.
ASM Motorsports has become the most recognizable and successful name
in the NASCAR Busch East Series. In 2006, under his leadership, ASM
Motorsports guided sophomore driver Sean Caisse within striking
distance of the championship. ASM Motorsports is regarded as the most
esteemed team in the series.

Santerre is very excited about return to his roots in a Pro Stock car
and competing against the best in the region which includes long time
friend Kirk Thibeau. "For the past few years, my good friend Kirk
Thibeau has been racing these Pro Stock cars up there in Fredericton
and for the past few years he's been telling me I need to go up there
and race with them," Andy said. "In the past it had never worked out
that I could be there. This year we happen to have that weekend off,
and I needed a good excuse to get away, and there's no better place
than my place up in Aroostook County, Maine, which is not too far from
the track."

Another interesting first for Santerre will be racing north of the
border. "I'm looking forward to racing in Canada, I've never raced
there. There are a lot of great race fans there, and I have a lot of
friends up in northern Maine and around the Canadian border, I'm
excited to get up there."

This news has also got the management at Speedway 660 energized. "We
are thrilled to have someone of Andy's calibre compete in the
Peterbilt 250" said Speedway 660 co-owner Chris Johnston, "Andy is a
class act and nothing short of a genius when it comes to producing
competitive race cars".

Early predictions are that the 2008 event could break the record for
entries (44 in 2006). Throw in a name like Andy Santerre and it's not
hard to realize why the event has become one of the Premier Pro Stock
races in the Northeast.

Andy will drive a car prepared by the Graham Racing in Centreville in
co-operation with Kirk Thibeau out of Fort Fairfield. ME. The Ben
and Andy Graham are no strangers to Speedway 660 having logged
thousands of laps over the years and Thibeau, a former Peterbilt 250
champion has been on a roll this summer winning both of the Best of
the Best 100 lap pro stock events and the Best of the Best Mini Series
Championship.

Hogan has high hopes for PASS National Championship Summer Sizzler 200

Hogan has high hopes for PASS National Championship Summer Sizzler 200

Cleveland, GA 7/14/08- Jason Hogan's' last Pro All Stars Series (PASS)
super late model start was almost as good as it gets. Hogan finished
second in his 2008 PASS South series debut in the Orange Blossom
Special Orange County Speedway in Rougemont, NC. Just a car length
separated him from race winner Trevor Sanborn who earned his first
PASS super late model feature win at "the OC".

"We came up just a spot short there last time, I probably could have
gotten into Trevor (Sanborn) a little bit to rattle his cage if I
wanted to, but he had raced me clean all race long so that's the same
way I wanted to race him. But going into this weekend we should have a
little bit better car than last time which means as long as we can
qualify up front and stay there then we should have a good shot at
winning the thing," explained Hogan.

The team will have their work cut out for them as the 200 lap PASS
South event this weekend at Orange County is also round number two of
the four race PASS national championship series, paying $10,000 to the
winner. The race will attract teams from all over the country. Some
forty-four cars showed up at the first national event at the Hickory
Motor Speedway back in March. But Hogan welcomes the challenge of this
weekends' talent-laden field.

"I say the more the merrier. It's a chance for us as drivers to
compete against the best from not only the south but all over North
America really. It also makes the quality of racing better for drivers
and fans alike. Nobody wants to see five or six good cars race against
twenty-five others who aren't. Everyone wants to see a full field of
ultra competitive race cars battling it out and I think that's what
you'll see this weekend," stated Hogan.

Hogan has momentum on his side for the weekend's Summer Sizzler 200,
but he'll have to beat the best of the best in super late model
circles to stand in victory lane Saturday night.

In addition to 200 green flag laps of PASS super late model
excitement, the Orange County's own Tag-Out Late Models will share the
bill with a 150 lap special event with a hefty payout. For more

PASS North: Ben Rowe declared Full Fendered Frenzy winner

PASS North: Ben Rowe declared Full Fendered Frenzy winner

NAPLES, ME, JULY 14, 2008 – The Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North
super late models made their annual trip to Thompson International
Speedway Saturday night for a 75 lap shootout and The Full Fendered
Frenzy definitely lived up to its billing. The wild night featured
great racing, two attempts at a green, white, checkered finish and a
post race ruling by PASS officials that declared Ben Rowe the event
winner. Although Rick Martin took the checkers first, he was penalized
for jumping the final green flag and relegated to second place in the
official order of finish.

Martin took the lead at the initial green with Trevor Sanborn in tow.
The duo was able to pull away from the pack early on. A lap six
restart allowed Sanborn to take away the top spot for three laps
before Martin regained the point.

Sanborn continued to challenge Martin and retook the lead on a lap
fifty restart. Sanborn's lead would once again be short lived as the
bumps in turn one sent him skating up the track ,allowing Martin and
local PASS stand out Derek Ramstrom by for first and second.
Ramstrom's run through the field was well received by the Thompson
faithful, who have witnessed three consecutive weekly super late model
wins by the West Boylston Massachusetts teenager.

Ramstrom and Martin put on a fearsome battle for the lead, but Martin
slammed the door on Ramstroms' repeated attempts to make a move on
the bottom. The first green, white, checkered attempt of the night
proved to be Ramstrom's undoing; Martin moved up the speedway ,
making contact with Ramstrom who in turn made contact with the
concrete, ending a great run that could easily have resulted in
Ramstroms' first PASS North victory.

The second green, white, checkered attempt saw Martin jump out in the
lead with teammates Ben Rowe and Trevor Sanborn in hot pursuit. When
the checkers flew the unofficial top five were Martin, Rowe, Johnny
Clark charging by Sanborn for third and Ramstrom back to fifth. But
Martin's two car length jump prior to the drop of the green prompted
series officials to declare the finish unofficial and the resulting
review reversed the top two in the order of finish.

PASS North has the upcoming weekend off, allowing many teams to travel
to Orange County Speedway in Rougemont North Carolina for round two of
the inaugural PASS National Championship series, The Southern Sizzler
200, on July 18th and 19th. PASS North makes its' annual visit to
Groveton New Hampshire's Riverside Speedway on July 26th.

SPEEDWAY 95 NEWS RELEASE

July 11th, 2008

By Bill DaButler

(Hermon, Me) The Pro-Limited Division at Speedway 95 suffered three
cautions Saturday July 11th at laps 13, the restart of lap 13, and lap
22. What started as a much larger field, ended with a win for Rowland
Robinson, Jr. of Stueben, the fastest car of the four cars still on
the track. Duane Seekins of Stockton Springs finished second, and
Scott Modery of Hermon finished third. Four place and the last car on
the lead lap was Steuben's Mike Parritt.

In the Super Street division, Doug Sinclair of Hermon started on the
pole, and make contact with the outside pole sitter, Kris Watson of
Hermon, drawing out the caution with one lap completed. The tire was
changed, but Sinclair found himself a lap down. At lap 12,the third
caution flag flew, and Sinclair found himself the recipient of the
groove selection lucky dog rule, and gained back his lost lap. Watson
held the front of the field to take the win, while Sinclair worked his
way back up, to finish second. Jeff Overlock, Jr. of Hermon finished
third.

Derek Pearson was in third when his brother Jordan Pearson of Glenburn
spun out with two laps to go. Seeing an opportunity, to get to the
front, Derek slipped underneath the back fender of the leader, Wayne
Parritt, Jr. of Stueben who had led every lap of the Strictly Street
race so far. Derek and Parritt banged together, and Parritt spun,
handing the win to Pearson, second place was Travis Poulin of Holden,
and in third, Ellsworth Brad Norris.

Rookie Jason Trundy of Old Town led every lap of the Sport Four race,
to earn his first win in the division, there were two cautions, and a
red flag in the race. The red came at lap 14 when Brent Fletcher of
Old Town spun, and Gene Stimpson of Belfast and David Ogden crashed
hard outside turn four. Stimpson was alert, and talking, but taken in
the ambulance to be checked out. Steve Moulton of Glenburn ended the
night in second place, and David Green took third.

Ernie Wallace, Jr. of Winterport crossed the line at the checkered
flag to win in the Full Size Truck Division, with Andrew Crosby, of
Hermon in second. Jordan Pearson of Glenburn took third. Pearson
strength in the heat race, allows him to hold the points lead by 7
points over Wallace.

The Maine Supercup Racing League returned to the track with win from
Josh Ireland of Howland, despite a hard charge from Francis Bernard of
Howland who dove many times into the low groove to try to pass for the
win, but settled instead for second in the caution free affair.
