Laperle Wins Milk Bowl, Steals ACT Championship

Laperle Wins Milk Bowl, Steals ACT Championship

BARRE, VT – Patrick Laperle of Montreal had a career-defining
day at Barre, VT's Thunder Road, winning the 45th Annual
Chittenden Bank Milk Bowl stock car event, and stealing the
American-Canadian Tour Late Model Championship from rival Scott Payea
of Milton, VT. Laperle took a narrow two-point Milk Bowl win over
Eric Williams in the three-segment, cumulatively scored race,
and crept past Payea for the championship by just a single point,
unofficially, for the season crown.
"(Today) was about the championship," said the emotional
Frenchman. "You race all year for a championship. The Milk Bowl
was like, how do you say it, the cherry on top of the ice cream."
For Laperle, it was his second consecutive Chittenden Bank Milk
Bowl win – his third Milk Bowl win in four years – and his
first ACT Late Model Tour championship; he won the
Quebec/Ontario-based Serie ACT-Castrol title a year ago. The race
victory was
worth $10,000, plus bonuses, and a chance to repeat Milk Bowl
tradition and kiss the beauty queen – an Ayrshire dairy cow
named "Miss Kitty."
Laperle posted finishes of first, eleventh, and eighth in the
three 50-lap segments for a total score of 20 points (one
point awarded per finishing position, lowest total score wins the Milk
Bowl). Hyde Park, VT driver Williams, who was crowned the
2008 Thunder Road Track Champion a month ago, had finishes of ninth,
sixth, and seventh for a total score of 22 points to finish
as the runner-up. Ryan Nolin of Georgia, VT sandwiched a tough
20th-place middle segment with finishes of third and first to
score 24 points and finish third overall.
Dennis Demers of Shelburne, VT finished fourth overall (6+16+6=28
points), with Graniteville, VT driver Chip Grenier taking a
career-best ACT Late Model Tour finish in fifth (11+9+9=29 points).
John Donahue of Graniteville, VT won the second segment, but
slumped in the other two rounds to finish 13th overall.
Payea was the victim of an accordion-like incident during a
restart on lap 14 of the third segment, pushing the nose up on
his car and forcing him to slow his pace. He entered the final
segment as a contender for the overall Milk Bowl win after
finishes of seventh and tenth, but managed only a 13th in the final
round. His total score of 30 points left him sixth overall in
the Chittenden Bank Milk Bowl, earning him 80 ACT championship points
to Laperle's 100 championship points. Using ACT's "Pick 10"
championship format that counts only the best ten of 12 events for
each driver, Laperle's final tally was 914 points to Payea's
913.
Four-time Milk Bowl winner Robbie Crouch of Tampa, FL finished
seventh overall (8+13+10=31 points), with Lancaster, NH
driver Quinny Welch eighth (13+3+17=33 points). ACT Late Model Tour
Rookie of the Year Nick Sweet of Barre, VT finished ninth
(19+4+11=34 points), with Williston, VT's Brian Hoar tenth
unofficially (5+15+14=34 points). Sweet won the tie-breaker for
overall position with Hoar due to his better final-segment finish.
Laperle's championship marks the first by a Canadian driver on
the ACT Late Model Tour since the series' inception in
1992, and ends a streak of five consecutive championships won by
Milton, VT driver Jean-Paul Cyr. Cyr finished third in
championship standings, unofficially. For more information, visit

“Joey Pole” on the Milk Bowl Pole Again

"Joey Pole" on the Milk Bowl Pole Again

BARRE, VT – Nineteen year-old stock car sensation Joey "Pole"
Polewarczyk, Jr. won his third consecutive Booth Bros./H.P.
Hood Pole Award at the 45th Annual Chittenden Bank Milk Bowl at Barre,
VT's Thunder Road on Saturday afternoon. The Hudson, NH
driver earned the $1,000 top prize after posting a single-lap time of
13.165 seconds around Thunder Road's high-banked 1/4-mile
oval, besting 56 other cars in attendance.
"We always post great times here in qualifying, now we have to
put the pieces together to take that next step and win the
race," said Polewarczyk, who finished third in the event in 2006. "My
team is firing on all cylinders, we have two ACT (American-
Canadian Tour) wins this year, and now we want to win the big one, the
Milk Bowl."
Seven-time ACT Late Model Tour Champion Jean-Paul Cyr of
Milton, VT will start outside Polewarczyk on Row 1 in Segment 1
of the Chittenden Bank Milk Bowl on Sunday. Cyr and Craig Bushey of
Cambridge, VT posted identical best-lap times of 13.268
seconds; Cyr won the tie-breaker with a better first-lap time of
13.469 seconds to Bushey's 13.617 seconds. Bushey, the NAPA
Tiger Sportsman division point leader at Thunder Road, is making his
first Late Model-division start of the season.
Brad Leighton of Center Harbor, NH will start in fourth place
after winning his Booth Bros./H.P. Hood "Triple 50"
qualifying race. Cyr and Bushey won their respective Triple 50s as
well. Five-time ACT Champion Brian Hoar of Williston, VT,
also making his first start of the year, will start in fifth place.
Ryan Nolin of Georgia, VT, Patrick Laperle of Montreal, Scott
Payea of Milton, VT, Brent Dragon of Milton, VT, and Trampas Demers of
South Burlington, VT will round out the top ten starters in
Milk Bowl Segment 1.
The Chittenden Bank Milk Bowl is a three-segment, cumulatively
scored race that awards points in each 50-lap segment – 1
for first, 2 for second, etc. The finish of each segment is inverted
to begin the next, and the driver with the lowest three-
round total score is the overall winner. Top prize is $10,000 and a
kiss of the beauty queen – a Vermont dairy cow! The Milk
Bowl is 12th and final round of the American-Canadian Tour
Championship; Payea leads Laperle by just 19 points for the title.
General admission is $25 for adults and $5 for children 6-12.
Gates open at 10:00am, with the last-chance "B" Feature
qualifying race set to begin at 1:00pm, followed by pre-race

RAIN EXTENDS WISCASSET'S SEASON ONCE AGAIN

WISCASSET RACEWAY PRESS RELEASE 9/26/08

RAIN EXTENDS WISCASSET'S SEASON ONCE AGAIN

If you you're a diehard race fan that wants to see racing action
through the month of October, Wiscasset Raceway will be your place to
go. After a lengthy string of sunny days over the past two weeks a
weekend of heavy rain throughout the northeast has once again forced
track management to pull the plug on its weekly racing program; a pair
of shows Saturday and Sunday that were already makeup dates from
earlier rainouts. Track owner / promoter Doug White wasted little time
cancelling the double header weekend of action, making the call early
Friday morning. For the second straight season Wiscasset Raceway has
had a third of its scheduled season effected by inclement weather. The
two race programs will now be rescheduled on consecutive Sunday
afternoon's in mid October on the 12th and 19th. Division
championships are still up for grabs in all six weekly racing series
divisions including the Clark's Car Crushing Prostocks. Freedom's
Randy Turner will carry an 8 point lead over Jeff Burgess of East
Madison heading into their final points race October 12th sponsored by
Harold C. Ralph Chevrolet and Motor Supply Company. Former champ John
Phippen is also in contention for the title and $10,000 champion's
check as he trails by just 20 points. The five other weekly divisions
have two more points races and division titles will be settled on
October 19th. The program on the 19th, sponsored by Central Maine
Motors Group and Sno-Pro Trailers, will also feature a 100 lap
Prostock open main event.

Wiscasset Raceway next returns to action with Ray Haskell Ford
"Fall Brawl Weekend" Saturday October 4th and Sunday 5th. The Saturday
program will start at 4:00pm with the return of the Pro All Stars
Series. The PASS Tour will wrap up its northern division season with a
150 lap Super Late Model main event along with action in other
supporting PASS divisions. Sunday's program rolls out at 2:00pm and
will feature several high paying "Nationals" non-points races
including a $10,000 to win 100 lap Super Street / Sportsman National
event; a $3,000 to win 100 lap Street Stock National event; a $1,000
to win 50 lap Pure Stock Mini Stock National event; and a $500 to win
Mini Truck National event. A complete schedule and payout information
for all October races is posted on the Wiscasset Raceway website at

PASS South Over The Mountain 150 Postponed Due To Weather, Gas Shortage

PASS South Over The Mountain 150 Postponed Due To Weather, Gas Shortage

CHARLOTTE, NC (September 25) – Pro All Stars Series (PASS) President
Tom Mayberry and Hickory Motor Speedway promoter Sherry Clifton agreed
Thursday to postpone Saturday night's PASS South Super Late Model
event due to weather concerns and a gas shortage in western North
Carolina. The possibility of rescheduling the Over The Mountain 150
is being looked upon, but a date has yet to be announced.

Weather forecasters have increased the chance of precipitation in the
Hickory, N.C. to 60 percent on Saturday because of a low pressure
system situated off the coast of North Carolina. Circumstances have
been further complicated in part due to a severe gas shortage in
western North Carolina. North Carolina Governor Mike Easley announced
late Wednesday that relief is coming to the area, but it is unclear
how much gas can be freed up from the Tennessee and Spartanburg, S.C.
terminals because those areas are experiencing gas supply shortages as
well.

"We would like to thank Sherry Clifton and everybody involved in their
understanding during this tough situation," said Mayberry. "But, you
need gas to travel and you need gas to race, and with the weather
situation factored in, we didn't feel like it was fair to put our fans
and teams in jeopardy."

PASS South Super Late Model action returns on Saturday, October 18thth
for the 2nd Annual Howler 150 at the Greenville-Pickens Speedway. The
Howler will be the final race of the PASS National Series.

RC2 Race City Race Cars to Sponsor PASS South Pole Award

CHARLOTTE, NC (September 22) – Pro All Stars Series (PASS)
President Tom Mayberry announced today that RC2 Race City Race Cars
will be the presenting sponsor of the pole award for the four
remaining races of the 2008 PASS South Super Late Model season. PASS
South Super Late Model qualifying will now be known as RC2 Pole Award
Qualifying. The fast qualifier at each of the last four events will
receive $100 as long as they have an RC2 contingency sticker on their
race car. The RC2 Pole Award will go to the fast qualifier regardless
of where he lines up following PASS South's traditional redraw for the
top 10 qualifiers.

"We're really glad to have a sponsor like RC2 Race City Race Cars step
up and give something back to our drivers who go fast in qualifying,"
said Mayberry. "RC2 is a brand new company and it means a lot to us
for Jack [Dudkiewicz] and David [Null] to believe in the PASS South
Super Late Models and want to be a part of what we're doing."

of the pole award in 2009 and is trying to put together a house car to
race full time with PASS South next season.

"The PASS South series is something we really wanted to be a part of
when we started RC2 because Super Late Models are cool and what we
like to work on," said Jack Dudkiewicz, co-owner of RC2 Race City Race
Cars. "Becoming the sponsor of the RC2 Pole Award is exactly what we
wanted to do because we want to make cars go fast. In our business,
we want to be able to help that guy out whose running 8th or 12th and
make him a top five car or better. This is a perfect fit between RC2
and PASS South."

Morse wins wild PASS Pluffybilt Sportsman 100 at Beech Ridge

Morse wins wild PASS Pluffybilt Sportsman 100 at Beech Ridge

Naples ME – (September 22, 2008) Donnie Morse Jr. looked like he
would have a solid top five finish as the laps ran down Sunday in the
Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Pluffybilt Sportsman 100 . But with four
laps to go, Morse found himself scooting under the top four and taking
over the lead as a four car melee at the front took out the rest of
the front runners. Morse then cruised to victory over Russell Morse
and Steve Bennett Sr. to score the win in the season's biggest race
for the PASS Sportsman division.

Until that point it looked like Terry Merrill, and Wayne Helliwell Jr.
were going to duke it out for the win. The pair had swapped the top
spot several times, often twice on the same lap as they battled side
by side for the point. But Dan McKeage had raced his way up through
the field to third as the laps wound down and was looking to challenge
the top two McKeage got his chance to make a run on a lap 96 restart,
trying to get under Helliwell on the bottom. The move didn't work, the
pair came together and the end result was a new leader as Mckeage,
Helliwell, Merrill and Carey Martin all went spinning.

It was a wild finish to a wild race that was slowed thirteen times by
caution flags

PASS Pluffybilt Sportsman regular Richie Morse finished fourth with
Jeff Irish fifth. Helliwell recoverd for sixth and Reggie Leeman was
seventh. Clyde Hennessey, McKeage, and Alan Moeller rounded out the
top ten.

Richie Morse now leads Steve Bennett 276-250 in the Sportsman point
standings .The PASS Pluffybilt Racing Tractors Sportsman Championship
will be determined when the series heads to Groveton New Hampshire's
Riverside Speedway for their season finale on Saturday October 11th
as a part of Riverside's popular Frost Bite 250 event.

PASS South Title Contenders Hope To Get Back On Track at Hickory

PASS South Title Contenders Hope To Get Back On Track at Hickory

CHARLOTTE, NC (September 22) – In order to become a championship
contender, you first have to race well and hopefully win a race or two
along the way. Well for the drivers in contention for the 2008 Pro
All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Model championship that is
true, with a few notable exceptions. In particular, the last two
races. At both the Caraway (NC) Speedway and the Newport (TN)
Speedway, the championship chasers have been eliminated due to a
myriad of problems.

Perhaps the hardest hit driver in PASS South points has been the point
leader Corey Williams…literally. Williams has been involved in hard
crashes at Caraway and at Newport. And, Williams was challenging for
the lead late in both races when the accidents have occurred. It's
been a tough month, full of late nights and lots of work for Williams
and his underfinanced team. With the Over The Mountain 150 on the
horizon this weekend at the Hickory Motor Speedway, Williams looks to
get back and stretch his points lead at the site of his only 2008 win.

Alex Haase comes to Hickory second in points and trailing Williams by
only 24 points. However, Haase probably would be leading the points
had he not his own share of problems. Over the last three races,
Haase's Kyle Busch Foundation Toyota has suffered flat tires at Dillon
and Newport while in a position to have at least a top three finish in
both of those races. Haase comes to Hickory in a much different
position this weekend than he did for the Easter Bunny 150 back in
April. In April, Haase finished 21st after being involved in a couple
of different incidents. In that first race at Hickory, Haase was only
competing in his second PASS South event and now has two wins heading
back there on Saturday.

The last month for Perry Brown has seen a mix of adversity and a sense
of triumph. First, the adversity. On lap one of the Piedmont Pride
125 at Caraway, Brown slammed his Ford hard into the turn two wall,
nearly sending the machine onto its lid. The car was almost destroyed
and Brown finished in 22nd. The Floridian and his team spent all week
in North Carolina, burning the midnight oil, in an effort to get the
machine fixed in the short week leading up to the Daniel Boone Classic
at Newport. After struggling through qualifying and the early part of
the race, Brown was able to get his problems corrected and managed an
eighth place finish. With all the ups and downs he has experienced,
Brown is still third in PASS South points, 36 points out of the lead.

Mark Gibson and Heath Hindman have had their own opportunities to move
up within the top five only to have their hopes destroyed. At
Caraway, Gibson had the best run of his PASS South career leading 99
laps, sometimes as far ahead as a straightaway over his nearest
competitor. Gibson would lose the lead to Haase on a late restart and
was then sent to the back of the field by PASS officials after contact
with Haase sent him spinning. Still, Gibson rallied to a strong
fourth place finish. Gibson's hopes for a repeat performance were
dashed the following week at Newport due to a blown engine in
practice. After starting Jason Grant's machine to get valuable PASS
South points, Gibson finished with a disappointing 15th place finish.

Defending Over The Mountain 150 winner Heath Hindman was one of the
fastest cars in practice at Caraway and Newport but had less than
expected finishes in both races. A mechanical problem knocked Hindman
out early at Caraway sending him back to Tennessee with a 20th place
finish. At Newport, Hindman blistered the field in qualifying and
seemed to have the car to beat. A late race skirmish, a wrecked race
car, and an upsetting 12th place finish were all Hindman was left with
leaving Newport.

Justin Wakefield appeared to have the hot hand with back to back wins
at Dillon and Caraway, but an early accident at Newport has slowed
Wakefield's momentum. Despite that setback, Wakefield should rebound
and be hard to contend with heading to Hickory.

All of the top contenders have had their moments in the sun in 2008,
but the Hickory Motor Speedway will have a list of its own new
challenges for them this weekend. The real Super Late Models of the
PASS South series will use every groove imaginable around the .363
mile stock car racing icon. Over the years, it has been common place
to see the PASS South Super Late Models use both the bottom line and
the high line and there is no clear answer to which groove is really
the best. And the championship contenders are not the only drivers
looking for a win at the Hickory Motor Speedway. Alex Fleming, John
Batten, Tim Pinion, Bradley McCaskill, John Stancill, and Brian
Royalty should all be contenders in the Over The Mountain 150.
Stancill finished third in the Easter Bunny 150 and returns after a
few races off in PASS South. Royalty brought out a brand new engine
and took it to a fourth place finish at Newport. All the PASS South
regulars will also have to battle a full field of Super Late Model
contenders looking to get into Hickory's hallowed victory lane.

Real Super Late Model action returns to Hickory this weekend as the
PASS South Super Late Models return for the 3rd Annual Over The
Mountain 150. It all starts on Friday, September 26th at Hickory
Motor Speedway for the PASS South Super Late Models with practice from
4 PM to 7 PM. On Saturday, September 27th, pit gates will open at
12:30 PM, qualifying will be at 6 PM, with racing starting at 7 PM.

Shaw Shines in PASS 400 Weekend Mod Feature

NAPLES ME  (September 22, 2008) The PASS Mods added extra distance for Sundays' PASS 400 weekend feature at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, and Andy Shaw returned to victory lane for the first time since the PASS Mod opener at the Scarborough Maine oval. Shaw claimed the lead on lap seventeen and dominated the remaining thirty three laps for the convincing win. Troy Morse raced home second, with PASS Mod newcomer Glen Bradbury third, Rod Henry fourth and Tom Oliver fifth.

Greg Ellis and Scott McDaniel brought the field down to the green, and Ellis grabbed the early lead. McDaniel slid up the speedway and fell back through the field, while Bill Dixon ad Ronald Gooden raced up to second and third. Dixon took the lead away from Ellis one lap later and Troy Morse charged past Gooden on lap three for second.

By lap six Shaw was up to fourth from his ninth place starting position, methodically working his way to the front. Morse took his turn at the point, passing Dixon on lap nine, but Shaw was on a mission. He moved up to challenge Morse on lap twelve, and five laps later he took over the top spot and was never headed.

Shaw dedicated his win to the memory of Alan Tripp, a well known and liked figure in northern New England motorsports who passed away suddenly last week.

Mark Lucas, Tom Oliver and Shaw are locked in a three way battle for the PASS Mod title, and they'll duke it out for the 2008 PASS Mod Championship at Wiscasset (ME) Raceway on Saturday October 4th for The Fall Brawl.

UNITY RACEWAY - SEPTEMBER 19

Mother Nature was kind to Unity Raceway this week, but Jack Frost made
his first appearance. The cold weather didn't keep the drivers from
putting on one of the best shows of the year. The Sportsman division
raced at 50 lap qualifier race for the Nationals to be held at

Hickory Looms Large In Record Books for PASS South

Hickory Looms Large In Record Books for PASS South

CHARLOTTE, NC (September 16 2008) – It doesn't matter who they are or
where they are from; race car drivers want to win at Hickory. Nestled
in the foothills of North Carolina's Blue Ridge Mountains, the Hickory
Motor Speedway has played a huge part in the history of stock car
racing. It is fitting that on the inside wall of the speedway it
reads, "Birthplace of the NASCAR Stars." Names like Ralph Earnhardt,
Junior Johnson, Ned Jarrett, Bobby Isaac, and Harry Gant have all
raced and won at the Hickory Motor Speedway. And, very little has
changed about the .363 mile oval since it first opened with a red clay
surface in 1951. Today's present configuration still resembles the
one that Curtis Turner and the like slung clay on adoring fans. If
you look at archival film of classic races at Hickory, nothing is
different with the exception of an asphalt surface and the outside
wall that encloses the speedway.

So, when looking at all of the great battles that have helped create
history at Hickory, you might wonder how the PASS South Series fits
in. Yes, the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Models have
only been around since 2006, but it all started at the Hickory Motor
Speedway. Maine legend Mike Rowe out dueled Kentucky's Chuck Barnes
to take the win in that first running of the Easter Bunny 150. The
following year Ryan Lawler marched to the win in the Easter Bunny.
Both Rowe and Lawler went on to win the PASS South Super Late Model
championship. This year's Easter Bunny 150 winner Corey Williams
hopes to continue that trend.

While the spring race at Hickory has gone on to produce champions,
September's Over the Mountain 150 has produced both history and
surprises. In the 2006 Over the Mountain 150, Lawler took his first
career PASS South win. It was not that easy, though. Earlier in the
day, Lawler and his Robert Hamke led team lost their primary engine in
practice. The team regrouped, put a lower horsepowered crate engine
in, and went on to take the victory in dominating fashion over Rowe
and Preston Peltier. Last year's Over the Mountain 150 started off
with a whopping field of over 40 cars attempting to qualify for the 28
car starting grid. Contenders like Williams, Cassius Clark, Lee
Tissot and others were eliminated through crashes and mechanical
problems. Meanwhile, Lawler appeared to be on the way to a third
straight win at Hickory. However, alternator problems late in the
race knocked Lawler from contention allowing Tennessee's Heath Hindman
to take his first career PASS South victory.

The 2008 Over the Mountain is sure to be another historic battle at
Hickory. Currently, the top five in points are separated by a mere 72
points. PASS South points leader Corey Williams hopes to get back to
victory lane for the first time since the Easter Bunny 150 in April.
Contenders Alex Haase, Hindman, John Batten, and John Stancill look to
get in good runs at this weekend's (Sept 20-21) PASS North PASS 400
Weekend before focusing on the Over the Mountain. It's the third race
of the four race PASS National Championship Series and they are all
making the trip to Maine to duke it out in the PASS 300 for the
$10,000 top prize.

PASS South Super Late Model action returns on Saturday, September 27th
for the 3rd Annual Over the Mountain 150 at the Hickory Motor
Speedway. Action starts on Friday, September 26th at Hickory for the
PASS South Super Late Models with practice from 4 PM to 7 PM. On
Saturday, September 27th, pit gates will open at 12:30 PM, qualifying
will be at 6 PM, with racing starting at 7 PM.

NEW ENGLAND MOTORSPORTS NORTH

NEW ENGLAND MOTORSPORTS NORTH
By Lou Modestino (for 9/19-9/21/08)

The 2nd Annual Fall Free For All, sponsored by John Christman
Construction is set to go green on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at 1:30
pm, at Riverside Speedway in Groveton, New Hampshire. The open
competition style event will include a 100 lap main event for Late
Models paying a minimum of $1,000 to win. If you buy a minimum of four
new American Racer tires at the track and win the race, you will
receive $1,200. There will also be a Strictly Stock feature paying
$500 to win, a 4 cylinder Street Stock feature paying $250 to win, a
Tiger Sportsman 50 paying $500 to win, Daredevil Youth Racers features
for kids 10-14, and finally a combined four and six cylinder, 50 lap
enduro, that will pay $250 to win.

Stock car drivers from around New England and eastern Canada are
preparing for the 45th Annual Chittenden Bank Milk Bowl event at
Barre, VT's Thunder Road on the weekend of Sept. 27-28. The Milk Bowl
is a three-segment, cumulatively scored event that awards $10,000 to
the winner plus bonuses. And in a tradition that dates back to the
first running of the race in 1962, the winner gets to kiss a real
Vermont beauty, but with a twist – the lovely gal is a 1,000-lb
Ayrshire dairy cow.

Montréal driver Patrick Laperle has won two of the last three
Chittenden Bank Milk Bowls. "Her nose is usually a little wet, but I
don't mind kissing her if it means I've won the Milk Bowl," said
Laperle. The 2008 Milk Bowl queen will be announced in the coming
days. Harvest Hills Farm's "Dickens" was Laperle's leading lady last
year. Aside from the pageantry, the race is a prestigious, historic
event, and is the 12th and final race on the American-Canadian Tour
(ACT) Late Model Championship schedule.

In 2006, National Speed Sport News named the Chittenden Bank Milk Bowl
the "Outstanding Annual Short Track Event" in the United States.
Legendary short track heroes including Robbie Crouch of Tampa, FL, the
late Butch Lindley of Greenville, SC, Dave Dion of Hudson, NH, and
Jean-Paul Cabana of Sherrington, QC have each triumphed in the event.
More recently, Brent Dragon of Milton, VT joined his father, Beaver,
and uncle, Bobby, as a Milk Bowl winner, taking the honors in 2006.
Local Vermont heroes Cris Michaud, Eric Williams, Dave Pembroke, and
Phil Scott have also kissed the cow.

The Milk Bowl is a 150-lap race broken into three 50-lap segments. The
winner of each segment is given one point, the second-place finisher
two points, etc., and the driver with the lowest overall score after
three rounds is declared the Milk Bowl champion. Booth Bros./H.P. Hood
time trials and "Triple 50" qualifying races, along with a last-chance
"B" Feature, determine the first-segment starting order.

Drivers expected to challenge Laperle at the 45th Annual Chittenden
Bank Milk Bowl include ACT Late Model Tour point leader Scott Payea
and seven-time ACT champion Jean-Paul Cyr of Milton, VT, 2003 Milk
Bowl winner and 2008 Thunder Road Track Champion Williams of Hyde
Park, VT, New Hampshire stars Joey "Pole" Polewarczyk and Randy
Potter, Maine's Glen Luce, and as many as 50 more. Booth Bros./H.P.
Hood Qualifying Day begins at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27 with
Time Trials. The driver with the fastest one-lap time will earn the
pole position for the Chittenden Bank Milk Bowl and $1,000. The
last-chance "B" Feature begins at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 28,
followed by opening ceremonies for the 45th Annual

Mother Nature carried the only checkered flag at the P.A.S.S.
sanctioned, Riverside Speedway in Groveton, New Hampshire this past
weekend, as Friday night's activities sponsored by Leo Enos
Landscaping were washed out.

Riverside Speedway will be back in action this coming Saturday,
September 20 at 2 p.m., as Budweiser presents a day at the races. On
the card will be championship events for the Outlaw Sportsman. The
card will also feature Late Models, Street Stocks, Daredevils, Angels
and Cyclones, all racing for their last race prior to their
championships on Saturday, September 27 at 2 p.m. Pits open at 9:30
a.m., grandstands at noon, and the first green flag waves at 2 p.m.

WERA road racer James "The Rocket" Rispoli, formerly of Londonderry,
NH, diced it up front and scores a second place finish at the
Legendary Indy Mile dirt track race. The 17-year old young gun rode
the wheels off his stock framed and motor ApriliaUSA/Lloyd Brothers
Motorsports/American AGIP SXV550 against a mixed grid of Harley
Davidson 750, Kawasaki 650, KTM 950 and Suzuki 650 motorcycles.
Rispoli ran his bike into the corners deeper and rode it harder
through the turns against his higher-powered competition showing that
it takes more than just a fast bike to get on the podium. The sell
out crowd at the famed Indianapolis Fairgrounds was attended by an
International crowd, many of whom were seeing dirt track racing at its
best for the very first time.

Patrick Laperle of Montréal served notice last Saturday evening that
he is ready to challenge Scott Payea for the 2008 American-Canadian
Tour Late Model stock car championship, following a dominant victory
in the New England Dodge Dealers 150 at Maine's Oxford Plains
Speedway. Laperle's Systèmes Intérieurs Descoste #91 Chevrolet charged
from 16th starting position to take the lead from Turner, ME's Glen
Luce on lap 50, then blitzed the 36-car field for his second ACT
championship event win of the year.

"That was a lot of fun," said Laperle. "We started 16th and took the
lead early, the car was awesome. We changed a lot of things just
before the race, I knew we had to make the car tighter, and it was the
right thing to do. We found something last week (in winning the
non-points all-star ACT Showdown at Quebec's Autodrome Chaudière) and
it's working."

How about Eddie MacDonald winning the Camping World East 125 at NHMS
in Loudon, NH for the second time this season! As a result, the
Rowley, MA driver is two-for-two in '08. In the process MacDonald
handed a lot of more well funded teams another defeat. His take for
that last Saturday morning run was $15,050.

Brad Leighton of Center Harbor, NH led 44 laps of the NASCAR Camping
World Series East's Heluva Good Fall 125 at New Hampshire Motor
Speedway Saturday morning, but fell off the pace with only three laps
remaining when his #55 Irving Oil Chevrolet seemingly ran out of fuel.
The four-time NHMS track champion was credited with a disappointing
22nd place finish.

"We didn't really run out of gas, it just didn't pick it up. We've got
gas in the tank," said Leighton. "We were a few laps short. It's
pretty frustrating, but the fact is these guys work hard and we were
competitive. It looked like we were going to pull it off. I thought I
had it in June and I thought we had it here today."

Joey Pole of Hudson, NH ended the morning in sixth place with Mike
Olsen of N. Haverhill, NH next. Not so fortunate was Mike Johnson of
Salisbury, MA 35th while Laine Chase of Beverly, MA was 38th. Both
drivers ran into problems.

All-Star Speedway in Epping, NH got its ISMA Classic in after the
second try last Saturday night, one week later. Chris Perley of
Amesbury, MA was the winner. NASCAR Craftsman Truck driver Johnny
Benson ended the night in sixth. Bobby Santos, III had better luck at
All-Star, after his problems at NHMS in Loudon in the NASCAR Modified
Tour race, earlier in the day, and finished eighth.

Here's what else is going on this weekend in the North Country.
Friday's offerings have the Canaan (NH)dirt track adding Granite State
Mini Sprints while Oxford Dragway in Maine has Final Point night while
Unity in Maine offers Last Call for '08.

Saturday is very busy with the True Value Modifieds, NEMA Midgets and
NEMA Lites added to the card at the All-Star Speedway in Epping, NH.
The Canaan NH dirt track comes back Saturday with the NEDTS Flat Track
motorcycles and Quads. Legion in Wentworth, NH schedules Open
Competition while it's dubbed Super Saturday at the Monadnock Speedway
in Winchester, NH. On the south side of Franconia Notch White
Mountain has five stockcar divisions. For the draggers it's another
busy weekend at New England Dragway in Epping, NH Friday night through
Sunday afternoon. Beech Ridge Motor Speedway is another busy venue
with the PASS 400 all weekend.

Sunday's northern schedule includes stockcar action at Hudson, NH,
Speedway 95 in Hermon, Maine and Spud Speedway in Caribou, Maine.
Winterport Dragway on the coast of Maine offers dragracing all day
starting at 8 a.m.

Biffle holds off Johnson for win at New Hampshire Motor Speedway

LOUDON, N. H. -- Greg Biffle, a true, hard-charging stock car driver,
hasn't been talked about that much in the buzz leading up to NASCAR's
Sprint Cup Chase for the Championship. Some might say he was "The
Forgotten Man." Not anymore. Biffle won Sunday.

He made the top 12 with an up-and-down season and started getting up
to form in the races leading up to Sunday's Sylvania 300 at New
Hampshire Motor Speedway.

On Sunday, he grabbed his first victory since last year at Kansas
Speedway, the 13th of his Sprint Cup career. Biffle passed two-time
champion Jimmie Johnson with 11 laps remaining and held Johnson off
for the win.

Carl Edwards was third, Jeff Burton fourth and Dale Earnhardt Jr.
placed fifth. Rounding out the top 10 were Kurt Busch, Martin Truex
Jr., Tony Stewart, Denny Hamlin and Kevin Harvick.

Eight of Sunday's top 10 finishers are eligible for the championship.
Pre-race favorite Kyle Busch had a terrible day and wound up numerous
laps behind in 34th position. A series of mishaps ruined his day.

Former champion Matt Kenseth also had a miserable day, the victim of a
multi-car crash that stopped the race for 10 minutes or so after 220
of the 300 laps had been completed. Kenseth wound up 40th. The red
flag waved while officials cleaned up debris from the 220th lap
accident.

The crash started when former Indy winner Sam Hornish Jr. ran out of
room on the bottom of the track and bumped Kyle Petty, triggering a
melee that also involved Casey Mears, David Gilliland, Kyle Busch, and
Kenseth.

Jeff Gordon, a four-time champion, wound up 14th and Clint Bowyer,
another Chase driver, was 12th.

Edwards showed what he had pretty early, zipping to the front on the
eighth lap.

Points leader Busch suffered a sway bar problem and dropped back in
the field. His crew fixed his car when NASCAR called a competition
caution at lap 35 to allow the teams adjustments.

The track was very green at the start after a drenching overnight rain.
Edwards still led on the restart at lap 44. Stewart, Johnson, Kurt
Busch and Hamlin were in the top five.

The younger Busch, a favorite to win his first NASCAR Sprint Cup Chase
for the Championship after pacing the field through its first 26
races, had dropped to 43rd position by the time his crew fixed his
problem. Busch didn't help himself when he passed several cars when
coming into the pits, which cost him a lap. Busch had eight wins and
a 30-point lead as the first race of this year's Chase unfolded.

Johnson took the lead from Edwards on the 65th lap and Stewart moved
up to second.

On lap 84, Busch lost control out of turn two, spun and was hit by
Jamie McMurray, which pretty much ended Busch's chances for the day.

David Ragan also spun after being hit in the rear during the accident.
Johnson still led on the restart, with Earnhardt right behind him, but
Earnhardt took over shortly.

At 150 laps (halfway), it was Earnhardt, Biffle, Johnson, Kurt Busch,
Hamlin, Burton, Edwards, Montoya, Bowyer and Truex Jr.

JEFF BURGESS CONTINUES TO ROLL AT WISCASSET RACEWAY

WISCASSET RACEWAY PRESS RELEASE 9/14/08

JEFF BURGESS CONTINUES TO ROLL AT WISCASSET RACEWAY

Jeff Burgess has picked the right time of the year to hit his
stride and turn in his best racing of the season. The veteran racer
from East Madison started mid pack for the 50 lap Clark's Car Crushing
Prostock feature and picked his way to the front for his 3rd win of
the season and second straight in Wiscasset's top division. With his
recent hot streak, winning three of the last five races, Burgess cut
point leader Randy Turner's advantage in half and now trails by just
ten heading into the final points race on September 27th. Both drivers
are shooting for their first Wiscasset track championship. The win
highlighted a full card of racing action Saturday night at "Maine's
Center of Speed". Other winners included Appleton's Darren Ripley in
the Smith Construction Late Models; Kevin Douglass of Sidney in the
Unicel / Budweiser Super Streets; Steve Peirpont of Cushing in the
Keystone Automotive Strictly Streets; Pete McCollet of Readfield in
the Aable Autoparts Mini Stocks; and Chris Doucette in the White &
Bradstreet Mini Trucks. Dale Cullivan and Chuck Lachance lined up on
the front row to lead the field of twenty drivers to the green flag
for Saturday night's main event. Lachance took the lead on lap one and
held it through a pair of early cautions while others including
Burgess and Turner moved up through the field into contention. As
Lachance, John Phippen and Ryan Deane were lined up nose to tail on
the inside lane Burgess, who started tenth, moved up the outside and
took over second by lap twelve. Six laps later Burgess drove around
Lachance and into the lead. Lachance then faded back out of contention
as Phippen and Deane continued their heated battle for 2nd. Five
cautions through the second half of the race would bunch up the field
and bring two new drivers into the picture. Turner who started at the
back of the field in 20th and Chuck Colby who started beside him in
19th moved up into the top five and into contention. While Turner
couldn't get any higher than 5th, Colby's car got stronger late in the
race and he drove around Phippen and Dean into second by lap 43. He
was not able to catch Burgess however and chased the winner across the
line just two car lengths behind. Deane picked up a strong 3rd place
finish and Phippen settled for 4th. Defending champ Scott Moore made
it by Turner to finish 5th. Heading into the division's final points
battle on Saturday September 27th, Turner leads Burgess by just 10
points and Phippen by 20. Chuck Colby still has an outside shot as he
moved within 40 points of Turner. The drivers will be shooting for the
$10,000 championship payoff for winning Wiscasset Raceway's track
championship.
In the 30 lap feature for the Smith Construction Late Model
Sportsman division Appleton's Darren Ripley took advantage of a front
row starting position and survived five cautions to post his 3rd win
of 2008. Defending champ and current point leader Chris Thorne gave
Ripley a run for the money but had to settle for 2nd. Thorne actually
edged out Ripley for the lead by a bumper following a lap 18 restart,
but that was the only time he was able to mount a serious challenge.
Adam Chadbourne, the division's top rookie and Thorne's only
competition left for the division title, battled the champ hard for
position through the first half of the race but he lost his hold on a
top three finish following a lap 20 restart. TJ Watson of Harpswell
slipped under Chadbourne on lap 23 to take over the 3rd positition and
he would hold that all the way to victory lane. Jimmy Childs started
10th and finished 4th with Chadbourne slipping to a 5th place finish.
With just two points races left for the division Thorne stretched his
lead over Chadbourne to 22 points heading into championship weekend.
The Unicel Super Streets 25 lap feature had just one caution, but it
took away what was shaping up to be one of the best races of the year.
Front row starters Jeremy Glasier and Kevin Douglass raced side by
side through the first 20 laps with the pair trading the lead back and
forth in an exciting battle that looked like it would come down to the
wire. As they were heading through turn three rookie Sulo Burbank was
just ahead of the lead pair and in danger of going a lap down. Burbank
would spin in turn four directly in front of the leaders sending cars
scattering. Douglass was able to drive around the outside to hold the
lead, but the traffic piled up on the inside lane taking out Glasier
as well as the 3rd place car of Nate Weston and the 4th place car of
point leader Allan Moeller. On the ensuing restart Douglass quickly
disposed of teammate Mike Landry and went on to pick up his first
career Super Street victory in his #18 Strictly Roofing sponsored
Chevrolet. Landry settled for 2nd and Shawn Austin of Norridgewock
finished 3rd, just beating out his brother RJ Austin and Josh Bailey
for the final spot in victory lane. The Keystone Automotive Strictly
Streets went 20 laps caution free with Cushing's Steve Peirpont
holding off defending champ Maurice Young for his 2nd win of the year.
It was Peirpont's first race back since rolling his car over under the
flag stand three weeks earlier. Young would settle for the second
place finish and extend his point lead in the process. Division
runner-up Ed Peirpont finished 3rd with Ian Bresnahan and Bobby
Mesimer filling out the top five. Young holds a comfortable 60 point
advantage heading into the double header championship weekend as he
shoots for his record 7th track championship. With the recent hot
streak by the young drivers in the Aable Auto Parts Mini Stocks,
Readfield's Pete McCollet and Richmond's Mike Dulaney stepped up to
represent the "older" guys in the class. McCollet took the lead from
Dulaney on lap three and never looked back on his way to his 4th win
of the year. Dulaney held on for his best finish of the year and a
second place trophy. Rookie Tom True of Wiscasset continued his latest
run of strong finishes with a 3rd place run. Point leader Dylan
Lancaster suffered a flat right front tire with two laps to go and
dropped to a disappointing 13th place finish. He still maintains a
strong hold on the top spot in the division with two races to go.
Chris Doucette of Sebego continued his dominance of the White &
Bradstreet Mini Trucks. He started 4th in the 15 lap feature and moved
up to take the lead from Jason Giggey on lap 11. He would cruise to
his division high 7th win of the year. Chad Binnette of Biddeford got
by Giggey to take 2nd and Giggey settled for 3rd in the caution free
race.
Wiscasset Raceway has a scheduled weekend off and then will return
to action for a double header championship weekend September 27th and
28th. On Saturday the 27th, the green flag drops at 5:00pm with
regular action in all six weekly racing series divisions. The show
will be highlighted by a 50 lap main event and final points race for
the Clark's Car Crushing Prostocks. Sunday September 28th will get
underway at 2:00pm with all six weekly divisions in action once again.
The Prostocks will have center stage with a 100 lap main event and the
other five divisions will have their final points races. For more
information call the Wiscasset Raceway office at (207) 882-4271 or
check the track website at www.wiscassetraceway.info.

DJ Shaw wins PASS DJ Equipment 150

DJ Shaw wins PASS DJ Equipment 150

Naples ME ( September 14 2008) Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North
rookie DJ Shaw challenged PASS North newcomer Travis Kittleson for
80 laps before making his move by Kittleson for the lead on lap 120
of Saturday nights' DJ Equipment 150 at White Mountain Motorsports
Park. Shaw then held off Johnny Clark and Ben Rowe on a key lap 134
restart to secure his second PASS North win of the season in Julio and
Rita Miglioli's Precision JLM Ford. Clark, Rowe, Kittleson and Cassius
Clark chased Shaw to the line in a race that was short on cautions and
long on the kind of hard core short track racing that only super late
models can produce.

Kittleson and Trevor Sanborn led the twenty five car field to the
green, and Sanborn prevailed only to give up the lead to Kittleson's
Cushman Competition Ford on a lap twenty restart. Cassius Clark came
up to run second a few laps later, but it was Shaw who was slicing his
way through the field. By lap 50 he was up to second from thirteenth
on the grid and looking for a way by Kittleson.

With only four cautions to interrupt the action, lapped traffic was
always a factor as the pair clicked off twelve second laps. Shaw
dogged Kittleson lap after lap in one of the best short track battles
of the 2008 PASS season. Late in the race the torrid pace seemed to
take its toll on Kittlesons ride, allowing Shaw to take away the lead
with thirty to go. Johnny Clark and Ben Rowe were able to follow suit
under Kittleson a few laps later, but neither driver could mount a
serious challenge for the win.

Adam Bates, Russ Hersey, Mike Lavoie (in a team car to Shaw), Travis
Benjamin and Trevor Sanborn completed the top ten,all on the lead lap.

The PASS North and South super late models will collide next weekend,
September 20-21, at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough Maine
for the 4th Annual PASS 400. The 300 lap super late model feature
awards both PASS North and PASS National Championship points.
Saturday card includes qualifying for all divisions plus features for
the roadrunners, wildcats and a first time PASS appearance by the
winged NEMA Midgets. Sunday its 100 laps for the PASS Pluffybilt
Sportsman, 50 for the PASS Mods and 300 for the PASS super late
models. The first green flag waves at noon each day. For a complete
weekend schedule, visit www.racewithpass.com or

Laperle dominates Dodge ACT 150; Short, Karkos capture Little Guy 100s

OXFORD, Maine - Patrick Laperle of St. Denis, Quebec, dominated the
final 101 laps to capture the New England Dodge Dealers 150
American-Canadian Tour event Saturday at Oxford Plains Speedway.
Laperle took the lead from Glen Luce on lap 50 and survived a brief
battle with ACT rookie Nick Sweet after the third and final restart of
the race on lap 144.
The result represented the second ACT win at Oxford for Laperle and
career-best finishes on the tour for runner-up Sweet and third-place
Luce.
Luce also finished second in the TD Banknorth 250 at Oxford in July.
Joey Polewarczyk Jr. and Eddie MacDonald finished fourth and 10th,
respectively, after qualifying through the last-chance 'B' feature.
Polewarczyk and MacDonald made the approximate three-hour commute from
the NASCAR Camping World East race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in
Loudon, N.H., where MacDonald won and Polewarczyk placed sixth.
OPS weekly competitor Shawn Martin rounded out the top five. MacDonald
edged Martin by a tiebreaker to win the four-race L/A Harley-Davidson
Challenge series and the $2,000 first-place check from that point
fund.
Nearly 600 laps of green-flag racing thrilled fans for 6 1/2 hours in
Oxford's season finale.
Mike Short (Strictly Stock) and Justin Karkos (MIni Stock) captured
the 13th annual Little Guy 100 open competition races.
David Childs won a pair of Chimney Tech Outlaw races, including a
50-lapper rained out from last Saturday's Acceleration Series Showdown
and the regularly scheduled 20-lap sprint.
Rick Spaulding (Outlaw), Jamie Leavitt (Runnin' Rebel), Jake Burns
(Truck), Vanna Brackett (Ladies) and Jamie Heath (Renegade) also went
to victory lane on the busy program.

Laperle Closes ACT Title Chase with Oxford Victory

Laperle Closes ACT Title Chase with Oxford Victory

OXFORD, ME – Patrick Laperle of Montréal served notice on
Saturday evening that he is ready to challenge
Scott Payea for the 2008 American-Canadian Tour Late Model stock car
championship, following a dominant victory in
the New England Dodge Dealers 150 at Maine's Oxford Plains Speedway.
Laperle's Systèmes Intérieurs Descoste #91
Chevrolet charged from 16th starting position to take the lead from
Turner, ME's Glen Luce on lap 50, then blitzed
the 36-car field for his second ACT championship event win of the year.
"That was a lot of fun," said Laperle. "We started 16th and
took the lead early, the car was awesome. We
changed a lot of things just before the race, I knew we had to make
the car tighter, and it was the right thing to
do. We found something last week (in winning the non-points all-star
ACT Showdown at Québec's Autodrome
Chaudière) and it's working."
Unofficially, Laperle cut his championship deficit to less than
half behind leader Payea, of Milton, VT.
Payea entered the New England Dodge Dealers 150 with a 42-point edge
over Laperle, but now leads by just 19
points, 833-814, after finishing sixth. The series' finale is in two
weeks at the 45th Annual Chittenden Bank
Milk Bowl at Thunder Road in Barre, VT. Both drivers are trying for
their first-ever ACT Late Model Tour
championship.
Rookie driver Nick Sweet of Barre, VT posted a career-best
effort in second place. Sweet drew even with
Laperle on the race's third and final restart on lap 144 and nosed
ahead on the backstretch following the green
flag, but was unable to overtake Laperle. Sweet held off former
Oxford Plains Speedway regular-turned-ACT Late
Model Tour driver Luce at the finish. Luce earned his best-ever ACT
finish in third place after leading 18 laps.
Nineteen year-old Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. of Hudson, NH finished
fourth after a hectic – but successful –
day. Polewarczyk made his super-speedway debut in the NASCAR Camping
World East Series event at New Hampshire
Motor Speedway in Loudon, NH earlier in the day, finishing sixth, then
drove to Oxford, ME just in time to start
the last-chance qualifying race. Polewarczyk started 29th in the New
England Dodge Dealers 150 and finished in
fourth place. Shawn Martin of Turner, ME finished fifth after an
outstanding door-to-door battle with
Polewarczyk. Martin led the race for 23 laps.
Payea finished sixth, unofficially, over Oxford Plains Speedway
driver Corey Morgan of Lewiston, ME.
Milton, VT's Brent Dragon finished eighth, the final car on the lead
lap. Oxford Plains Speedway track champion
Travis Adams of Canton, ME lead the first eight laps from the pole
position before finishing ninth, one lap down.
Rowley, MA driver Eddie MacDonald, who won the Camping World Series
event at NHMS earlier in the day, finished
tenth. MacDonald also unofficially won the L/A Harley-Davidson
Challenge Series championship, a four-race mini-
series that included all three ACT Late Model Tour events and the TD
Banknorth 250, after a tie-breaker with
Martin.
Thirty-five of the 36 starters in the New England Dodge Dealers
150 were running at the finish; only Mark
Hayward retired from the event after 15 laps with an ill-handling car.
The race was completed in one hour and
four minutes with just three caution periods. Qualifying heats were
won by Ricky Rolfe, Sweet, and John Donahue.
Laperle and Scott Luce won the consolation rounds, while Nick Brown
won the last-chance "B" Feature race.
The ACT Late Model Tour championship season will come to a
close on Sat./Sun., Sept. 27/28 at the 45th
Annual Chittenden Bank Milk Bowl at Barre, VT's Thunder Road. Booth
Bros./H.P. Hood Qualifying will be held on
Saturday, Sept. 27 at 1:30pm, with the Chittenden Bank Milk Bowl
scheduled for a 1:30pm start on Sunday, Sept.
