RAIN EXTENDS WISCASSET'S SEASON ONCE AGAIN

WISCASSET RACEWAY PRESS RELEASE 9/26/08

RAIN EXTENDS WISCASSET'S SEASON ONCE AGAIN

If you you're a diehard race fan that wants to see racing action
through the month of October, Wiscasset Raceway will be your place to
go. After a lengthy string of sunny days over the past two weeks a
weekend of heavy rain throughout the northeast has once again forced
track management to pull the plug on its weekly racing program; a pair
of shows Saturday and Sunday that were already makeup dates from
earlier rainouts. Track owner / promoter Doug White wasted little time
cancelling the double header weekend of action, making the call early
Friday morning. For the second straight season Wiscasset Raceway has
had a third of its scheduled season effected by inclement weather. The
two race programs will now be rescheduled on consecutive Sunday
afternoon's in mid October on the 12th and 19th. Division
championships are still up for grabs in all six weekly racing series
divisions including the Clark's Car Crushing Prostocks. Freedom's
Randy Turner will carry an 8 point lead over Jeff Burgess of East
Madison heading into their final points race October 12th sponsored by
Harold C. Ralph Chevrolet and Motor Supply Company. Former champ John
Phippen is also in contention for the title and $10,000 champion's
check as he trails by just 20 points. The five other weekly divisions
have two more points races and division titles will be settled on
October 19th. The program on the 19th, sponsored by Central Maine
Motors Group and Sno-Pro Trailers, will also feature a 100 lap
Prostock open main event.

Wiscasset Raceway next returns to action with Ray Haskell Ford
"Fall Brawl Weekend" Saturday October 4th and Sunday 5th. The Saturday
program will start at 4:00pm with the return of the Pro All Stars
Series. The PASS Tour will wrap up its northern division season with a
150 lap Super Late Model main event along with action in other
supporting PASS divisions. Sunday's program rolls out at 2:00pm and
will feature several high paying "Nationals" non-points races
including a $10,000 to win 100 lap Super Street / Sportsman National
event; a $3,000 to win 100 lap Street Stock National event; a $1,000
to win 50 lap Pure Stock Mini Stock National event; and a $500 to win
Mini Truck National event. A complete schedule and payout information
for all October races is posted on the Wiscasset Raceway website at
www.wiscassetraceway.info.
