Bobby Babb wins Coors Light 100 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway.

By Dan Walker

Scarborough, Maine- Being a 5 time track champion at Beech Ridge Motor
Speedway helped Bobby Babb secure the biggest win of the season as his
experience paid off in winning the Coors Light 100 on Saturday night.
Babb bolted from the outside pole position to lead the early laps
over David Oliver and Brockie Gerry. The first caution waved on lap 4
setting the table for Oliver to lead a lap before Babb went back in
front on lap 6.

Bub Bilodeau moved to second place on lap 15 and tried to chase down
Babb for the next 27 circuits but Babb stayed 4 car lengths in front.
On lap 42 the caution flag waved setting the stage for the anticipated
battle between the 2 fastest cars all season. Bilodeau shot into the
lead on the restart but Babb went back to the outside groove and took
back the top spot on lap 47.

The race stayed green thru the next 30 laps with Bill Rodgers and T.J.
Brackett moving into second and third as Bilodeau faded a little bit.
The final caution flag waved on lap 86 setting the stage for the
veteran Babb against the young driver in T.J. Brackett. As the green
waved Brackett took the lead but Babb quickly moved to the faster
outside groove and took back the lead on the 91st lap.

The final 9 laps were all about Bobby Babb as T.J. Brackett made a
last lap mistake and spun his car out of second place. Babb sailed
under the checkered flag with Bilodeau getting second place over
Oliver in third. Rodgers was fourth with Tim Brackett fifth.
Rounding out the top ten were D.J. Shaw, Brockie Gerry, Shawn
Twomey, T.J. Brackett and Mike Maietta Jr.

David Vaughn won his first Sport Series main event on Saturday night
in convincing fashion. Patrick Thorne had his best run as a Sport
Series rookie as he led the first 19 laps of the race. The only
caution flag of the race came on lap 19 and that was where Vaughn took
the lead and pulled away for the win. Jeff Charland was second
followed by Andy Field in third. Jason Gammon and Clyde Hennessey
filled fourth and fifth.

Richard Randall was the surprise winner of the night, not that the
reigning champion winning a race should be a surprise but it looked
like second place would be all he could get on this night. Jesse
Tolman was in control of the entire race with Randall behind by a few
car lengths as the race headed for the final laps. On the final lap
Tolman was blocked by the lapped car of Glenn Bradbury for some reason
and Randall made an inside pass for the lead on the final half lap to
steal the win. Tolman was second with Dan Bean third. Gary Babineau
and Cole Watson rounded out the top finishers.

Shawn Brackett led only the final 2 laps to take the Road Runner
feature win. Casey Corkum led 17 laps before he spun handing the lead
to Mark Hill. Brackett moved around Hill on the next lap and took the
win. Hill finished second and David Palmer third. Dan Bernier and
Corkum rounded out the top five.
