Showdown Champion Helps Extreme Makeover In Connecticut

Showdown Champion Helps Extreme Makeover In Connecticut

The Kobyluck Companies To Be Featured On "Extreme Makeover: Home
Edition" February 8th

Waterford, Conn. (January 30, 2009): The Kobyluck
Companies, a family of businesses dedicated to providing quality
concrete, construction aggregate, site development and trucking
services to residential and commercial builders in southeastern
Connecticut, announced today that it will be featured on an upcoming
episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition as the providers of the
demolition, site work, and concrete for the Girard Family home in
Voluntown, Conn.

The Girard family lost their home to a fire a year ago.
The Girards moved from a tent to a tiny camper then to their mother's
house, which is almost 40 miles away from where the children go to
school. Shortly afterwards the Girard's faced a double tragedy when
husband Thomas and their eldest son Marc drowned.

"I'm proud that our companies and employees can make a
difference in the life of this family," said President, Matt Kobyluck,
who recently won NASCAR's biggest short track race of the year at
Toyota Speedway at Irwindale (Calif). "I believe strongly that we
should all help out where we can in our community. The guys here
volunteered their time to come and do the work – sometimes spending
more than 24 hours here without any sleep. My father, Dan, even
canceled a trip to Florida so that he could be a part of it. It's
amazing what was accomplished in such a short time. I never thought it
could be possible."

The Kobyluck Companies, which is owned and operated by
brothers Matt, Mark, Chris, and Josh Kobyluck and their parents Dan
and Maureen Kobyluck, joined local builder Home Designs by Bruno and
hundreds of volunteers and workers to build a castle-themed house
complete with solar panels and a geothermal heating and water system.
The house is one of only a handful in the state of Connecticut to be
certified as green.

The Kobyluck Companies crew endured severe weather
conditions, including near-zero degree temperatures and torrential
downpours that made portions of the area a huge mud pit.

"We brought down some gravel to make some of the muddy
areas a little more passable, but it was pretty challenging conditions
to work in," said Kobyluck. "I hope that they show what these workers
endured during the week-long process. I think everyone here at the
Kobyluck Companies took a great deal away from this experience. Being
a part of it really brought out the best in everyone."

Matt Kobyluck, the 2008 NASCAR Camping World Series East
Champion, won the Toyota All-Star Showdown in a wild three-car battle
on the last lap of the race. His win, which was nationally televised
on SPEED Channel, was the first time a driver has ever repeated a
victory in what has been dubbed short track's Daytona 500. Rib Hillis,
one of the designers from Extreme Makeover: Home Edition attended the
event as Kobyluck's guest.

The Girard Family episode airs on ABC Sunday, February 8 at 8 pm ET.

All-Star Showdown Proves To Be Tough Night For Schrader Racing

All-Star Showdown Proves To Be Tough Night For Schrader Racing

Irwindale, Calif. (January 26, 2009): The All-Star
Showdown held at the Toyota Speedway of Irwindale proved to be a
disappointing night for the Ken Schrader Racing trio of Ricky
Carmichael, Jamie Hayes, and Dakoda Armstrong. Carmichael and Hayes
fell out of the race due to accidents and finished 34th and 37th
respectively. Armstrong was unable to start the feature event after
failing to qualify through time trials or the open race.

Rain halted all but a 45-minute practice session Friday
and postponed qualifying until Saturday morning, however, more rain
pushed the schedule back and teams were forced to time trial without
any further practice Saturday afternoon.

Armstrong's lap of 19.089 seconds was not enough to get in
the field on his time alone, and he was forced to start the open race,
which gave the winner a starting position in the field. Armstrong went
a lap down in the 50-lap race, but gained some valuable seat time
behind the wheel of a full-fendered stock car.

"We only got five laps of practice so I turned pretty much
all of my laps in that race. The last couple of laps we got better and
better. It was a neat experience and I have to thank Ken Schrader for
giving me the opportunity to race in these cars," said Armstrong.

Hayes started the Showdown from the 31st position while
Carmichael started 29th. Eight laps into the event, Hayes got caught
up in a three-car accident in turns three and four. The damage was too
extensive to continue the race, and the team parked the J.L. Hendrick
Auto Chevrolet for the night.

"It is what it is, but we broke the lower control arm and
there was a small hole in the radiator," explained Hayes. "We would
have been laps down before we got it fixed and would have been out
there risking the equipment. This isn't a points race so we cut our
losses and parked it for the day rather than go out there and try to
gain one or two spots."

Carmichael, on the other hand, seemed to have the most
promising run going for him at the conclusion of the first segment.
The No. 4 Monster Energy Drink Chevrolet did go a lap down prior to
the break, but Carmichael was the receipient of the beneficiary award,
which gave him his lap back prior to the green flag.

On lap 142, Carmichael became a victim of circumstance
when he got collected in an accident that occurred when Ron Hornaday
and Brian Ickler got together. He, too, was done for the night.

"It was just a crappy weekend for me. We missed the set up
in practice and I didn't qualify well. Right there put me in a bad
position. I started getting up there (through the field) and I got
tangled up in a caution and got hit. It was a downhill slide from that
point," explained Carmichael. "We started off in a bad position and
didn't do anything with it really."

racing PASS. Adam finished fourth in PASS points after his nine top five

Kobyluck The First To Make It Two - Earns Second Toyota All-Star Showdown title

Kobyluck The First To Make It Two - Earns Second Toyota All-Star Showdown title

IRWINDALE, Calif. - Matt Kobyluck emerged from a wild three-way battle
for first Saturday night to became the first driver to win two NASCAR
Toyota All-Star Showdown.

Joey Logano slid up into Peyton Sellers while going for the lead in
Turn 4 coming to the checkered flag. Kobyluck, who was running third,
came across the start-finish line a nose behind Logano. Logano was
penalized for his move, though, giving Kobyluck a second NASCAR Toyota
All-Star Showdown to go with the one he won in 2006.

Trevor Bayne wound up second, followed by Jason Bowles. Logano finished 40th.

"I saw it coming," Kobyluck said. "So I laid up a little, got on the
brakes and cut to the bottom so that I could miss it all.

"The writing was on the wall. I've been here and doing this enough to
know what the outcome was going to be one way or the other. I just
didn't want to get caught up in it."

Johnny Borneman and Matt Crafton rounded out the top five.

Kobyluck's win in the 2006 event also featured a three-car,
side-by-side skirmish for the win. In that one, it was Eric Holmes
that went spinning while Kobyluck held off Sean Caisse for the win.

Kobyluck won his first NASCAR Camping World Series East championship in 2008.

This was the first year the event - which has earned the title the
'Daytona 500 of short-track racing' - was held in January after the
first five were held in the fall.

Chris Johnson won the Coors Light Pole Award, while Andrew Myers won
the 50-lap 'Last Chance' race.

Mike Johnson won the Late Model race; Travis Thirkettle won the Super
Late Model race.

Former NASCAR Rookie of the Year Mike Johnson to Join 10th Annual
Busch Sport Scene Charity event

2000 NASCAR Busch North Series Rookie of the Year Mike Johnson will be
among the racers heading to Maine for the 10th annual Busch Sport
Scene Snowmobile Ride for Charity.

Johnson is among the top 20 in all time NASCAR Busch North / Camping
World Series wins and pole awards. His seven career wins are one shy

Johnson made his NASCAR debut in 2000, joining a very select few to
win a race in their rookie season. Mike followed up his great rookie
year just missing a championship title in 2001 when he finished the
year second in points behind Mike Olsen. He finished in the top ten in
points each year he ran a full schedule. Two of his seven career wins
came at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Maine. Mike's
biggest career win was actually a non-points win that came in 2004
when he won the prestigious NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown.

Johnson will bring many members of his race team with him to Rangeley
for the weekend. He will join many racers at the event including 2008
NASCAR Camping World Series Champion Matt Kobyluck. He will also join
Kobyluck as a guest on the Mainely Motorsports TV show, that will be
taping at the Club House on the day of the event.

"Mike has been a great supporter of this event over the years," event
organizer and Busch Sport Scene publisher George Campbell said. "He
and his team have been regular riders for the past few years, and
always add a lot of fun to the mix at the party that night. It makes
me very happy that one of the NASCAR Grand National Series best
drivers of this decade is such a strong supporter of our event."

RMR Snocross News: Verona, NY Event Recap

Poirier, O'Malley split Pro finals at Pit-X for Rock Maple Racing
snocross series

VERONA, NY (Jan. 19, 2009) - It's been said that momentum plays
a huge role in almost every form of motorsports. That rang true for
veteran snocross racer Danny Poirier last weekend in central New York,
splitting the Pro finals with John O'Malley as Rock Maple Racing (RMR)
completed Round 3 on the 2009 schedule at Bob Pawlowski's Pit-X track.
Poirier has been almost unstoppable this season, sweeping the
season opener and winning at least one Pro final in each of the
series' first three stops.
RMR's West series opened up its 2009 campaign at Pit-X as well,
providing teams from New York, Pennsylvania and points beyond a chance
to strut their stuff.
Poirier (Hulten Speed Sports/Polaris), of St. Theodore, QC,
held off O'Malley and talented Pro rookie Jason Stone to record his
fourth win of the season in the Pro Open final. After days of practice
the previous week, O'Malley was No. 1 qualifier on a stock sled!
In Pro Stock, O'Malley, of Ajax, Ontario, jumped out to an
early lead and never looked back. Quebec native Renaud Alexandre
(HSS/Polaris) followed O'Malley across the line for second, while
former champion Matt Boron was just off Alexandre's rear bumper in
third. Poirier tangled with Stone in this one and had to settle for a
disappointing 12th place finish.
Defending Central series Pro Vet champion Joe Lemieux got back
on track in Verona, winning the final in convincing fashion over
fellow Vermonter Rene Desrochers and Malone, NY, native Joel Santy.
Joe's niece Michelle kept the family atop the podium with her victory
in the Pro Women's final. Lemieux led Team Malone's Janell Smith
across the line, while Ingles Performance rider Paige Calderwood, of
Phoenix, NY, came home third.
In Central series Semi-Pro action Sunday, RMR veterans Jake
Melville and Aaron Pfeifer each posted a victory. Melville, of Pownal,
VT, claimed a wild Open final over New York native Shaun St. Onge and
Florence, Massachusetts-based rider Nick Kelley. Pfeifer, of
Blossvale, NY, led Kelley and St. Onge across the stripe in a
hotly-contested Stock 600 final. Three of RMR's top Semi-Pro racers
suffered injuries in Verona; Brennan Berardo, Corin Todd and Lucas
Brunelle. All of us at Rock Maple wish a complete and fast recovery to
these valued racers.
In West series action Sunday, Joey Stock registered a hat trick
with three final round wins. Stock, of Otego, NY, claimed the Semi-Pro
Open final over Cory Roman and Andrew Bailey. In the Stock 600 class,
Tim Randall chased Stock across the line with Kyle Becker a solid
third. Bailey and Clinton Ballou filled out the podium in Semi-Pro 400
as Stock capped a great weekend of racing in his home state.
Michelle Lemieux made her trip from Cabot, VT, worthwhile with
a second win of the weekend in the Pro Women final. Just as they did
in Central series action, Smith and Calderwood posted second and third
place runs respectively. Jason Riffle took top honors in Plus 35 Stock
Pro Am action, while Ballou bounded back to claim Saturday's Sport
Super Stock final.
On Sunday, it was Jake Lux's turn at the front in Super Stock,
with Chris Coleman second and Ballou third. Ryan Jabs notched his
first win of 2009 in Sport Stock 600, holding off a hard-charging Nate
Leclaire and Lux for top honors. John Kent prevailed in a wild Sport
500 final, with AJ Tornatore and Michael Sickler filling out the
podium.
Other final round winners in West series action at Pit-X
include Brent Herrmann (Plus 35 Masters); Adrian Colabello ( Plus 25
Stock); Amanda Kirschmeyer (Saturday's Women Stock 600 and Sunday's
Stock 500); Janell Smith (Women Stock 600 Sun.); Liz Storti (Women
Stock Novice); Jake Scott (Saturday and Sunday's Jr. 14-15 Stock 500,
Jr. 14-15 Stock 600 Fan, and Sunday's Jr. 16-17 Stock 500); Leo
Patenaude (Jr. 10-13 Stock Fan Sat. and Sunday); Matt Cameron (Jr.
10-13 Stock 380 Fan Sat. and Sunday); Hunter Patenaude (Jr. 8-10 300
Freestyle Saturday); Hunter Sherwood (Jr. 8-10 300 Freestyle Sunday);
and John Kent (Trail 600 Saturday and Sunday).
Rock Maple Racing would like to thank Bob Pawlowski of Pit-X
for hosting last weekend's West series opener. Cold temperatures
greeted race teams and fans on Saturday, while Sunday brought fresh
snow and slightly warmer air. Track conditions were excellent, which
made for a full weekend of close competition.
Up next for RMR is the debut of snocross at historic New
England Dragway in Epping, NH, this coming weekend, Jan. 24-25. For

RMR Snocross News: Epping, NH Event Preview

Debut at historic New England Dragway next stop for Rock Maple Racing
snocross series

DERRY, NH (Jan. 16, 2009) - For more than four decades, race
fans have gathered at New England Dragway to enjoy motorsports
entertainment from some
of the top names in national and regional drag racing.
Yet on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 24-25, a different type of
high-performance engine will draw attention to the historic facility.
For the first time ever, the high-flying excitement of snowmobile
racing comes to Epping, as Rock Maple Racing (RMR) gets set for Round
4 on the 2008-09 snocross schedule.
Spectator gates open at 8 a.m., with racing getting under way
promptly at 9 a.m. Admission is $12 per day for adults, with weekend
passes available for $20. Children age 10 and under will be admitted
free with a paying adult. Pit passes valid through the entire weekend
will be available for an extra $10.
Leading the charge into Epping is veteran Pro rider Danny
Poirier, of St. Theodore, Quebec. Poirier is off to a terrific start
this season, sweeping the finals in Round 1 before adding another win
in Round 2 in upstate New York. As amazing at it seems, Poirier has
never won a Pro title in RMR competition. He and the entire Hulten
Speed Sports Polaris team are out to change that in 2009.
Other Pro riders to watch in Epping include former champions
Matt and Jason Boron. The talented brother act from Leverett, MA, ride
for Campton-based D&Z Racing, owned by respected businessman Dana
White. Matt missed most of last year while recovering from an injury,
while Jason hasn't missed a beat in snocross since he started way back
in 1997. A trio of hard-charging rookies will be striving for their
first victory in Epping. Former Semi-Pro stars Chris Chico (Arctic
Cat), Derek Graham (Polaris) and Jason Stone (Ski-doo) have the skills
and determination to succeed at this level.
In the equally-exciting Semi-Pro division, there are a handful
of riders to watch. Among the top contenders are Corin Todd (Ski-doo);
Brennan Berardo (Ski-doo); Lucas Brunelle (Ski-doo); Trevor Bouchard
(Ski-doo); Brad Davis (Polaris); and Garrett Mees (Ski-doo). These are
the true rising stars of regional snocross, and they'll put on a big
show in Epping.
New England Dragway is the only 1/4-mile drag strip in New
England. It first opened on September 11, 1966, thanks to the efforts
of the New England Hot Rod Council. Since then, the track has evolved
into one of the nation's premier drag racing facilities. New England
Dragway hosts the Amalie Oil IHRA North American Nationals each
September, along with a host of other national touring programs
throughout the season.
New Hampshire-based riders to watch at the dragway include
Bouchard (Derry); Jake DaSilva (Salem); Joey Mosher (Salem); Scott
Edwards (Contoocook) and Martha Wells (Colebrook). The Granite State
is well-represented in the RMR pit area each and every week.
Rock Maple Racing is now in its 17th consecutive season of
snocross competition. Along with the Central, West and East snocross
tours, RMR also sanctions the Can-Am ATV Series during the summer
months. For more information, go to www.rockmaple.com.

specials and drink specials exclusively for those with a ride
credential. The proceeds from the ride will all go to several great
charities including the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Maine Special
Olympics, Travis Roy Foundation, Rangeley Snowmobile Club, Busch Sport
Scene Scholarship Fund and the Camping World Series Women's Auxiliary
and their various charities.

What is a poker run? Once you get a ride credential, you ride to five
separate checkpoints, getting your credential stamped at each
checkpoint. At the end of the ride, you get one card dealt for each
stamp on your card. The person with the best five-card poker hand will
be the winner! For example, if the five cards you drew were two jacks,
two aces and a two of hearts that would be your hand for the event.
The winner will be awarded a full prize package that will include some
great snowmobile gear, gift certificates and more. There will be
prizes for second and third best hand as well.

The ride by snow machine can be as quick as less than two hours or as
long as you like if you take longer trail routes. Poker Run stops will
be announced soon. Participants will meet back at the Club House at 6
PM. The cards will be dealt to see who has the best hand, which is
announced at 7 PM.

"The event is held rain or shine, snow or not. Many of the
participants at the event don't even ride snow machines," event
organizer and Busch Sport Scene Publisher George Campbell said. "If
anyone is concerned about the weather, or does not ride snowmobiles,
each check point is accessible by car as well as snow machine, making
it possible for those that do not ride snowmobiles to participate
equally."

Much of the fun takes place inside the Club House during the evening
festivities, which are capped of by a comedy show featuring nationally
known comedians Larry Myles and Rob Steen. Rob is a favorite of this
event, having performed at this event several times in the past. His
resume includes several appearances on the David Letterman Show as
well as performances on MTV and the Comedy Channel.

There will be 100's of raffle prizes and great auction items at the
event. Some of the auction items will include great sports items
including race tickets and signed memorabilia. Among the items
included in the auction are several Patriots items including an NFL
football signed by Teddy Bruschi as well as several Red Sox signed
items including one of Jonathan Papelbon. There will be plenty of
great NASCAR items including signed Kevin Harvick, Joey Logano and
Martin Truex items.

There will be lots of great non-sports items as well. Comedian Larry
Myles will also serve as a guest auctioneer! Larry has performed in
front of audiences from Los Angeles and Las Vegas to New York and
Boston. He has also been featured on MTV and appeared on the hit TV
show Law & Order. Raffle tickets for the 100+ raffle items will be
just $1 each or $10 for a dozen!

Steve Perry, host of the popular Mainely Motorsports television show,
will be at the annual event with his crew riding & taping for a future
episode. Mainely Motorsports airs on Time Warner Cable channels weekly
through out northern New England.

"This is the tenth year I have been involved in this event," Campbell
said. "We are closing in on $100,000 raised over those years. We have
some great plans for this year's event, including several specials
guests and many terrific auction items. If you are a race fan or a
sports fan, you do not want to miss this year's event. Even if your
not, it will be a great time for everyone and all the proceeds go
directly to some great charities."

Credentials for the event can be purchased for $10 in advance either
at the Club House, the Rangeley Chamber or from Busch Sport Scene. The
tickets will be $15 the day of the event. Busch Sport Scene is a New
England based sports magazine. Current Busch Sport Scene subscribers
will receive a $5 discount on the day of the event, as will NASCAR;
PASS & ACT team members that present their licenses.

Skip Barber, a five-time national champion sports car racer and the
present owner/operator of Lime Rock Park, heads up an impressive list
of presenters at the New England Auto Racers Hall of Fame Induction
Banquet Sunday Jan. 25 at LaRenaissance Banquet Hall in East Windsor,
CT.

A one-time Formula 1 competitor, Barber is the perfect choice to
induct Northeast Connecticut neighbor John Fitch. A racer of
international acclaim, Fitch's accomplishments also include design
work on the original Lime Rock.

Harvard educated, Barbers resume includes success in Formula Ford,
Formula 5000 and GT cars. His driver's school is among the best in the
world.

Other inductors include John McCarthy (Bob Bahre), George Summers (Art
Barry), Bones Boucier (Rollie Lindblad), Dave Moody (Tom Curley), Lew
Boyd (Paul Richardson), Cho Lee (Bobby Dragon) and Tommy Elliman (the
late Jim McConnell).

McCarthy and Summers are Hall of Famers. The Bahre-McCarthy
association began when both were car owners in the Northeastern Midget
Association. McCarthy went on to serve as NEMA president and later was
a consultant at Bahre's New Hampshire International Speedway

Summers won his final start, one of a hundred-plus victories, in a
Barry car. He is one of many Hall of Famers to drive for Barry.

Moody, an award winning writer and announcer and a nationally known
radio personality, has a long history with Curley as well. Moody is
the announcer at Curley's much heralded Thunder Road Speedway in
Barre, VT.

Boucier is arguably the premier auto-racing writer in the country, his
walls filled with awards. The long-time contributor to Stock Car and
Speedway Illustrated is well versed on Lindblad's revolutionary
affects on New England racing.

Like Bourcier, Boyd is no stranger to induction speeches. A writer and
publisher (Coastal 181), Boyd, a long-time competitor, brings a unique
view to the sport. He and Richardson are Northern Massachusetts
neighbors and close friends.

Lee, an accomplished historian and researcher, and Elliman, a
long-time announcer at Beech Ridge Speedway, have long been strong
supporters for their respective areas. They are appropriate choices
for Maine's McConnell and Vermont's Bobby Dragon.

The late Bert Brooks, the late Bertha Small and Hanaford will be
inducted as well, the latter three choices of the Veterans Committee.

SpeedwayEXPO and Williams Distributing, of Chicopee, MA, have
announced that Budweiser will be the presenting sponsor of the
Riverside Park Speedway Reunion, which will take place at XPO. Those
who attend the Reunion's opening, on Friday night, February 27, will
have a chance to go home with great gifts from Budweiser, including
racing jackets, shirts and other racing-related prizes. The grand
prize will be a Budweiser Mini Chopper worth more than $1,000, which
will be won that night by a lucky individual at the Reunion.

Budweiser has long been associated with racing. The brand's
sponsorship of Daytona's Bud Shootout begins each year's stock car
racing season and the Budweiser brand has long been part of some of
racing's more colorful teams. Bud currently sponsors Kasey Kahne, who
races out of the Gillette-Evernham stable in NASCAR's Sprint Cup
series. Budweiser has been around New England racing for a long time,
too. Ten years ago Williams Distributing, which sells Budweiser in the
region, was honored as "sponsor of the year" at Riverside Park
Speedway. Sadly, 1999 turned out to be the final year for both the
amusement park and its popular racetrack.

In 2009 SpeedwayEXPO is honoring Riverside Speedway with this Reunion,
and Budweiser is pleased to once again be associated with the
memorable track. Anthony Frasco, Director of Sales & Marketing at
Williams, said, "It will be a thrill for us to be associated with this
greatly anticipated reunion. The Great American Lager will have the
opportunity to be reunited with thousands of fans and drivers at the
2009 SpeedwayEXPO."

The Reunion will run all three days of the show--February 27 and 28,
March 1. Admission to the Reunion is free with paid admission XPO.
Tickets for SpeedwayEXPO can purchased in advance to save nearly
one-third of the price at the gate. These money-saving tickets are
available at 978-465-9099 x 103 (ask for Barbara) or online at
SpeedwayEXPO.com.

Produced by Speedway Illustrated Magazine and sponsored by Sunoco,
SpeedwayEXPO will be at the Big E, in West Springfield, MA, Feb. 27 -
March 1, 2009. It is the largest event for drivers, teams, tracks,
and racing vendors in the Northeast. SpeedwayEXPO will launch the 2009
racing season with more than 200 new racecars and old favorites, and
hundreds of exhibits for drivers, crews, and fans from a dozen states
and Canada. Thousands of enthusiasts pack more than 130,000 square
feet of exhibit space to take part in seminars and demonstrations; see
retailers of racing gear and memorabilia; and meet today's and
yesterday's racing celebrities.

After a successful 21-year run that brought some of the biggest names
in auto racing to central Maine, promoter Tim Attaya is turning over
the reigns of his Northeast Motorsports Expo & Trade Show. Held at the
Augusta Civic Center every January since 1989, the Northeast
Motorsports Expo has become a tradition among northern New England's
racing enthusiasts. Effective at the conclusion of this year's 21st
annual show, the event will be managed and run by well-known and
respected motorsports personality Steve Perry.

Perry, of Windham, Maine, is best known as the host of "Mainely
Motorsports," a weekly television show on Time Warner Cable that
showcases all forms of motorsports action. Racing insiders also know
Perry from his days as half of the famed SP2 Motorsports team, for
which Maine racing legend Mike Rowe drove with great success on the
Pro All Stars Series.
Attaya and wife Cathy have been synonymous with the Augusta show since
they founded it over two decades ago. Unlike other racing-related
shows, Attaya chose to include all forms of racing vehicles in his
event, bringing in everything from vintage and current stocks cars,
pulling tractors, motocross bikes, drag cars, snowmobiles and
go-karts. If it had an engine and raced within Maine, New Hampshire or
even Vermont, Attaya welcomed it to the show.

At the official announcement, Attaya spoke with passion about his
"baby," and how much he enjoyed the show despite the countless hours
of work involved to put it on. He talked about his choice for a
successor and what it meant to host the unofficial kickoff to each new
year of short track excitement. "I had three possible buyers for the
show," explained Attaya. "I chose Steve because I felt he would do the
most with it. He's ambitious, has good ideas and has a good working
knowledge of the sport. I had 21 great years, thanks to a lot of help
from a host of dedicated sponsors, staff and fans. I wish Steve all
the best in the future and feel confident he will take the show to new
heights." Attaya says planning for each year's show was
time-consuming, but also led to many lasting friendships from people
involved in the sport. The show became a big part of his life, but he
will cherish the memories from those many weekends in the Civic
Center.

"It was very rewarding for me see the reactions from fans when meeting
big-name drivers. We were lucky to have had some of the sport's
biggest heroes come up here to Maine. Fans loved it, and I enjoyed
seeing them smile when getting an autograph or taking a photo." Perry
has been a life-long race fan and has years of experience in various
aspects of the sport. Just prior to the announcement of this venture,
he spoke about the vision he has for the show and how he hopes to
rejuvenate this once-prestigious annual gathering.

"I was honored when Tim approached me to see if I was interested in
taking over the show," Perry said. "I know what he put into it for 21
years, and he didn't want just anybody at the helm. I'm excited about
this opportunity to not only continue a great motorsports tradition,
but to bring back the excitement this show once had by making it
attractive to national racers, their sponsors and of course more
fans." Perry says Attaya's philosophy of including all forms of racing
vehicles and displays is similar to that of his television show. That
philosophy will not change under the direction of SP2 Promotions.

"I feel the inclusion of all types of racing into the show has always
worked. It keeps it interesting for fans and racers from all those
groups. Our goals for the first couple of years are to enhance the
displays, add new vendors and try to bring in a national star people
will want to come see. It will take time and money to achieve these
goals, but with hard work to attract new sponsors and build momentum,
I believe we can bring this show back to where it was during its
heyday." The dates for the 22nd annual Northeast Motorsports Expo &
Trade Show were also announced here Friday. The show will be held on
Jan. 8-10, 2009.

Let's see what's happening in northern New England this weekend. SCCNH
has their Awards Banquet at the Windmill Restaurant in Concord, NH on
Friday night at 5 p.m. Sunday will see stockcar racing on the ice at
Berry and Lee Ponds in Moultonborough, NH, Lake Contocook in Jaffery,
NH and the Mi-Te-Jo Campgound in Milton, NH. Those events get the
green flag at 1 p.m.

Matt Kobyluck Heads For Busy Off Season

Matt Kobyluck Heads For Busy Off Season

Uncasville, Conn. (January 11, 2009): The 2008 season came
to a close last month when Matt Kobyluck, driver of the #40 Mohegan
Sun Casino Chevrolet's in the NASCAR Camping World Series East, was
crowned champion, but Kobyluck will have little time to spare this
month as he begins a full slate of appearances. It kicks off this
weekend with an autograph session at the 24th Annual Len Sammons
Motorsports Race Car & Trade Show in Atlantic City, NJ.

"We definitely have a lot of things going on," said
Kobyluck. "Probably more than we do during the race season! I'm happy
to go and be an ambassador for this series. I'm pretty excited about
it actually. It's a great time to have a chance to sit and talk with
the fans."

Kobyluck will sign autographs alongside 2008 Whelen
Modified Tour Champion Ted Christopher on Saturday, January 17th from
1-1:30 p.m. at the Racing With Jesus display booth (#1219). The #40
Mohegan Sun Casino Chevrolet will be on display in the booth for the
duration of the show, and will be complimented by Kyle Kobyluck's
winning quarter-midget racer from Little T Speedway.

Kobyluck leaves for California the following day to take
part in a three-day Champion's Tour that will include a photo shoot
for all of NASCAR's national and regional title holders. From there,
Kobyluck will head for Irwindale Speedway, where he will attempt to
defend his 2006 win in the NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown January
23-24th. The competition will air live on SPEED beginning at 7 p.m. PT
both nights.

"No one has ever had a repeat win at the Showdown so we're
hoping to become the first team to do that," said Kobyluck. "We've had
a lot of firsts this year – first championship, first Native American
to win a championship – so it would really be icing on the cake to be
the first team to win this thing twice."

Kobyluck will return home and leave for Maine, where he
will participate in the 5th Annual Andy Santerre Sno-Run. The event
raises money for Aroostook Mental Health Center's sexual assault
victim services. The Saturday, February 7th, 2009 event will kick-off
with a 100 mile snowmobile run led by four-time Busch North Champion,
ASM team owner and event leader, Andy Santerre. The event day also
offers an autograph session, social hour, benefit dinner and charity
auction.

Kobyluck will also attend SpeedwayExpo presented by Sunoco
at the Big E in Springfield, Mass. Feb. 27-March 1st, where he will
have the car on display in the Lime Rock Park booth. The 38-year-old
driver will also sign autographs at the show.

Bill Ryan one of eight national finalists for RPM Promoter of the Year

Bill Ryan one of eight national finalists for RPM Promoter of the Year

OXFORD, Maine - Oxford Plains Speedway owner Bill Ryan is one of eight
national finalists for the 33rd annual Auto Racing Promoter of the
Year Award, chosen by fellow promoters in balloting through Racing
Promotion Monthly.

Ryan is one of four first-time nominees for the ARPY honor, joining
Billy Thomas, East Alabama Motor Speedway; Toby Kruse, Marshalltown
(Iowa) Speedway; and Randy & Deb Queensland and their family, Deer
Creek (Minn.) Speedway.

"It is an honor to be nominated for Auto Racing Promoter of the Year,"
said Ryan. "I have been blessed to have a great team of employees here
at the Speedway. Their dedication to short track racing is incredible.
I would also like to thank our drivers and fans for their tremendous
support. Oxford Plains Speedway has an impressive national reputation
due to the quality of the racing and the enthusiasm of our fan base."

The 2008 season completed Ryan's first decade as owner and promoter at
OPS. During his tenure, the speedway has gained renewed notoriety on
the national scene for the growth of its showcase event, the TD
Banknorth 250 Presented by New England Dodge Dealers.

NASC AR champions Matt Kenseth and Kurt Busch became the first Sprint
Cup champions to compete in the 250 in 12 years when they entered the
event in 2004. Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin and Terry
Labonte are among the other superstars to compete in Oxford's crown
jewel, with Harvick winning the 2008 classic.

Other highlights of Ryan's tenure include the introduction of a highly
successful, midweek Acceleration Series in 1999, and a complete
repaving of the 3/8-mile oval track after the 2002 season. Hundreds of
drivers have enjoyed the opportunity to drive a stock car for the
first time as a result of the low-cost Acceleration Series.

Ryan and OPS have received two past awards from RPM in 2000 and 2007,
both for outstanding continuing short track operations.

The Auto Racing Promoter of the Year is short track racing's most
prestigious award. It is awarded each year after voting by promoters.
The award was originated in 1976 by the editors of Racing Promotion
Monthly, the ideas newsletter for auto racing promoters.

Voting is conducted in two phases. A preliminary ballot in the
newsletter nominates candidates in eight regions. The eight candidates
become Regional Promoters of the Year and then appear on a second
ballot for final voting. Ryan represents New England and the
northeast.

Multi-time nominees for promoter of the year are: Bruce Rogers,
Grandview (Pa.) Speedway, his third nomination; the Doellefeld
brothers, Stateline (Idaho) Stadium & Speedway, nominated fo r the
fourth time; Jim Nuckles and family, Columbus (Ohio) Motor Speedway,
nominated for the seventh time; and 2002 Auto Racing Promoter of the
Year Lanny Edwards, Devil's Bowl (Texas) Speedway. Edwards won his
record 10th regional award and becomes the 10th promoter re-nominated
after winning the national award.

Past winners from New England include Anthony Venditti of Seekonk
(Mass.) Speedway in 1978 and American-Canadian Tour promoter Tom
Curley of Thunder Road International Speedbowl of Barre, Vt., in 2004.

The ARPY will be presented during the 36th annual RPM Promoters
Workshops at the Orlando Marriott in Lake Mary, Fla., on Feb. 9.

Davis And Logano To Face Off Again At NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown

Davis And Logano To Face Off Again At NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Jan. 6, 2009) – In a race where there are no
points at stake and the only thing on the line is bragging rights,
Marc Davis will get the chance to even the score with Joey Logano, his
friend and teammate at Joe Gibbs Racing, when he heads out to
Irwindale, Calif., in two weeks for the NASCAR Toyota All-Star
Showdown.

"It's going to be a pretty cool experience," said Davis. "I can't wait
to get out there and run it again. It's the Showdown – it's big.
Everybody is going to be there."

Including the defending champion, Logano.

As the initial batch of entries for the prestigious event arrived in
Daytona Beach, Fla. for the race, the names of the two 18-year-old
up-and-coming superstars were among those to first to finalize their
intentions of running in the postseason showcase at the Toyota
Speedway at Irwindale.

The NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown will feature two days of exciting
action Jan. 23-24 among some of the top drivers in NASCAR Camping
World Series and NASCAR Whelen All-American Series action. The
competition will air live on SPEED beginning at 7 p.m. PT both nights.

"I can't wait to go back," said Logano of returning to the fast,
multi-grooved half-mile track. "I've got the same car and that track
is just a real cool race track. And we had a great time out in
Southern California. I really enjoyed being out there.

"It's pretty much the Daytona 500 of short-track racing, and it would
be awesome to go back and win it again."

Logano knows that returning to Irwindale as the defending race winner
he will carry a big target on his back. And nobody may be gunning for
him more than Davis.

Davis qualified fourth in the last NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown,
starting one row behind his teammate. But carburetor issues that
surfaced at the start of the race quickly put him 16 laps down. Once
he got back on the track, his time was among the leaders but the
opportunity to contend for the win was gone.

"We have a lot to prove this year – being so strong last time and
having nothing to show for it," Davis said. "We're taking the same
baseline as last year. We should be pretty good off the truck and we
have a whole lot of stuff to experiment with and see how the track has
changed."

In his NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown win, Logano led the final 87
laps and held off a fierce challenge from Peyton Sellers on a
green-white-checkered finish.

"In the beginning of the race, we weren't a bolt of lightning," Logano
said. "We made a couple of changes and got it to the front. It was
exciting."

Among those joining Davis on the early entry list looking to dethrone
Logano is three-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion Ron
Hornaday Jr., 2008 NASCAR Camping World Series West champion Eric
Holmes, former NASCAR Whelen All-American Series national champions
Peyton Sellers and Greg Pursley, and Eddie MacDonald – who swept the
NASCAR Camping World Series East races at New Hampshire last year.

The list of top short-track drivers who have already committed to the
event includes NASCAR Camping World Truck Series veteran Matt Crafton,
2008 NASCAR Camping World Series East champion and 2006 NASCAR Toyota
All-Star Showdown winner Matt Kobyluck, and 2008 NASCAR Canadian Tire
Series champion Scott Steckly.

Also confirmed to compete are four drivers who have earned rookie of
the year honors in the NASCAR Camping World Series in the last three
seasons (Jason Bowles, Sellers, Jeff Barkshire, and Austin Dillon),
and Brian Ickler, winner of the NASCAR Camping World Series
combination race in Iowa this past May.

Champions of each of NASCAR's developmental series earned secured
spots in the event. In addition to Holmes, Kobyluck and Steckly, those
champions include Philip Morris (NASCAR Whelen All-American Series),
Antonio Perez (NASCAR Mexico Series), Ted Christopher (NASCAR Whelen
Modified Tour) and Brian Loftin (NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified
Tour).

Logano won the NASCAR Camping World Series East title in 2007 and
became the youngest winner in the NASCAR Nationwide Series in 2008. He
is preparing to make his debut in the Daytona 500 at Daytona
International Speedway in February in his brand-new NASCAR Sprint Cup
Series ride, the No. 20 Home Depot Toyota.

His first on-track racing action of the 2009 calendar, though, will be
at the NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown – where he capped his
breakthrough rookie season in NASCAR in Victory Lane.

Logano won the event in October of 2007. The event has been moved to
January, where it will share the racing weekend with the Grand-Am
Series Rolex Daytona 24. The move provides a break in the monotony of
winter and an opportunity to get back to racing.

"I can't wait to get back into a race car," said Logano, who has got
his racing fix running go-karts against his friends and participating
in the Whelen Bodine Bobsled Challenge at Lake Placid, N.Y. "It's been
a while and I'm just getting antsy to race. It's going to be great to
get back on track at the Showdown."

Davis is coming off a 2008 season in which he finished fifth in points
in the NASCAR Camping World Series East. He led a race-high 57 laps at
Iowa Speedway in the combination race between the NASCAR Camping World
Series East and West.

He also made his debut in the NASCAR Nationwide Series and NASCAR
Camping World Truck Series.

Davis again plans a mixed schedule of the three national series in
2009, but not before taking care of some unfinished business.

"We had a car to win it last year but came up empty," Davis said.
"We're just going to have to go out there and perform and win it all."

In addition to competition for the NASCAR Camping World Series, which
is NASCAR's top developmental series, action in the NASCAR Whelen
All-American Series will feature a Late Model race and a Super Late
Model race.

New engine combination eligible for PASS South competition

New engine combination eligible for PASS South competition

Naples ME - (January 6 2008) Pro All Stars Series (PASS) President Tom
Mayberry has announced a new engine package that will be eligible for
competition in the PASS South super late model series for the upcoming
season. In 2009, PASS South competitors will have the option of
utilizing "Pro Cup" spec engines in PASS South super late models.

According to Mayberry, "Since we started the Pro All Stars in 2001
we've permitted a variety of engine options in an effort to allow
racers to utilize the equipment they have already invested in. This
addition to the PASS South rules gives our super late model teams
access to yet another readily available and affordable engine option."

"This package has undergone comparison testing and has proven to be
very competitive and will compliment the engine options we currently
permit," stated Mayberry. "With the proper weight assignment to this
package, the inclusion of the "Pro Cup" spec engine will make PASS
South super late model racing a viable option for even more race
teams."

2008 PASS South Rewind: Alex Haase Wins Championship

2008 PASS South Rewind: Alex Haase Wins Championship

CHARLOTTE, NC (January 6) - Since the inception of the Pro All Stars
Series (PASS) South Super Late Model division in 2006 the series has
seen a varied group of drivers claim the championship. In 2006, PASS
North veteran Mike Rowe made the long trek down from Maine to compete
in every race that season, winning two races to become the first ever
PASS South champion. Last year, Texas native Ryan Lawler used
experiences gained from his championship battle with Rowe the previous
year to win two races and bring the championship back to the South.
Coming into 2008, most racing minds agreed that the 2008 championship
could very well go to Corey Williams. After all, he was coming off a
season that saw him win three PASS South races in just seven starts.
And, at the 2008 PASS South season opener at Hickory Motor Speedway,
Williams dominated the second half of the Easter Bunny 150 to take his
fourth career win. It looked to be a long season for anybody else
hoping to win the title in 2008, but along the way, somebody forgot to
tell Alex Haase.

Haase came to the PASS South Super Late Model division after a long
tenure of racing on the West Coast. Wins in the Bandoleros and
Legends Car division led to races and wins driving Super Late Models
at The Bullring at Las Vegas and at the Irwindale Speedway in
California. It was his Legends Car racing, though, that led to
Haase's opportunity with NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Kyle Busch

"His dad and my dad worked at a Ford dealership in Las Vegas years and
years ago," said Busch of his relationship with the Haase family.
"Alex started racing Bandoleros and I sort of helped him out and was
talking to him about maybe doing more. I was looking for something
that was a good series to put him [Haase] in and something that he
could go after a points championship with and get some recognition out
of and that's why we decided to go with PASS."

Coming into the 2008 season, Haase had little PASS South experience to
fall back on having attempted only one race and failing to qualify for
that one (the 2006 Mason-Dixon Meltdown at South Boston Speedway).
Being a virtual rookie with PASS South in 2008, the results showed in
Haase's first two starts. Haase finished 21st at Hickory after being
involved in a couple of accidents and followed that up with an eighth
place finish at the Watermelon Capital Speedway in Georgia. From
there, Haase began to find his stride. Haase finished third at the
Motor Mile Speedway despite an incident with Trevor Sanborn that sent
him to the rear of the field and followed that up with a sixth place
finish in his first trip to Orange County Speedway.

Entering the summer months, Haase was fully entrenched as a
championship contender along with Williams. In June, the PASS South
Super Late Models made their first trip to the tight quarter-mile Wake
County Speedway just outside of Raleigh, NC. The race looked to be a
duel between former Wake County Speedway champion Alex Fleming and
Williams, who was used to racing on this type of track from his days
back in Maine. Surely enough, Fleming led the early laps before
fading back, handing the lead to Williams. All the while, Haase was
methodically making his way up from the middle of the field. Near the
halfway point, Haase would take the lead from Williams and never
looked back to take his first PASS South victory in the Capital City
Clash.

From there, PASS South teams and drivers headed to the legendary
Greenville-Pickens Speedway for the Firecracker 125. In front of a
packed house, Haase looked to gain points on Williams after Williams
had to start in the back after a problem in qualifying. At the drop
of the green flag, Justin Wakefield established himself as the driver
to beat opening up a straightaway lead over Haase. While this was
going on, Williams wowed the crowd by passing cars on the extreme
outside groove of the flat half mile track. Wakefield would be
eliminated in a crash on a late race restart leaving Williams and
Haase to duel it out for the win. Despite being the stronger of the
two cars on long runs, Williams did not have enough laps on the
green-white-checker restart and Haase would go on to score his second
straight victory.

The middle of the year would see Haase and all of the championship
contenders struggle. Haase was eliminated in an early crash at Orange
County's Southern Sizzler and would finish 24th. At Dillon, Haase
suffered a flat tire while leading forcing him to pit under green
which resulted in a ninth place finish. Haase came back from a spin
at Caraway to finish second and at Newport another flat tire resulted
in a disappointing tenth place finish.

Coming back to Greenville-Pickens for the Howler 150, the championship
battle was down to a three man fight between Williams, Haase, and
Perry Brown. The weekend started badly for Haase after he lost an
engine in practice and had to qualify his back-up car with very little
practice in it. In qualifying, Haase was barely able to crack the top
20. The early stages of the race would be dominated by Greenville
regulars Toby Porter and Randy Porter. Williams' championship hopes
took a nosedive when he had to retire his car due to a mechanical
issue. Meanwhile, Haase had been slowly making his way to the front
to challenge new front runners Adam Bates and Jeff Fultz. The three
drivers waged war over the final 15 laps with Haase nearly losing
control down the back straightaway. Haase managed to take the lead
and hold on for his third win of the 2008 season. Haase's win coupled
with Williams' problem allowed Haase to take the points lead heading
into the final race at South Boston.

Early on in the Mason Dixon Meltdown at South Boston, Haase and
Williams had strong runs going behind race leader and PASS North
champion Johnny Clark. Haase made a charge on Clark prior to the
halfway mark, but a mechanical problem heading into turn one sent
Haase's Toyota hard into the outside wall. Despite a setback that
could have cost him the championship, Haase's Kyle Busch Foundation
crew worked hard to get their car repaired for the second half of the
race. The hard work paid off when Williams' championship hopes were
dashed due to a crash just past the halfway break. Haase soldiered on
to finish 12th and would win the 2008 PASS South championship by 16
points over Williams.

Haase looks to defend his title in 2009, but it will be a tall order
indeed with many new teams coming to PASS next year and many existing
teams upgrading their equipment for the new season. On behalf of
everyone with PASS, we wish you a Happy and Safe New Year and look
forward to seeing all of you in 2009!

Although the 2008 season is over, it won't be long before the 2009
season begins. The 2009 PASS South schedule was recently released and
will begin on Saturday, March 14, 2009, with the Fourth Annual South
Carolina Clash at the Dillon Motor Speedway in Dillon, SC. The 2009
PASS North Super Late Model schedule is nearing completion and will be
released in the coming weeks.

RMR Snocross News: Malone, NY Event Recap

Boron, Poirier split Pro finals in Malone for Rock Maple Racing snocross series

MALONE, NY (Jan. 5, 2009) - Canadian veteran Danny Poirier and
former champion Matt Boron split the Pro finals on Sunday afternoon,
as Rock Maple Racing (RMR) completed Round 2 on the 2009 Central
series snocross schedule at the Franklin County Fairgrounds.
Poirier (Hulten Speed Sports/Polaris), of St. Theodore, QC,
steadily chased down and passed fellow Quebec native Dave Allard
(full-time Pro on the national circuit) to claim the Pro Open final.
Allard made a big move to catch Poirier late-race, but went off the
track slightly. Allard got right back on-track to finish second, while
Jason Boron was third.
Boron, of Leverett, MA, prevailed in Pro Stock after two
runner-up finishes in Round 1 at Black Mountain. Poirier got the
holeshot and led for several laps with Allard on his tail. As the
leaders worked lapped traffic, Poirier landed on Derek Graham, ending
his chances for victory. Boron, who had kept his nose clean the whole
race, led his older brother across the line (giving D&Z Racing/Ski-doo
a 1-2 finish), while talented independent John O'Malley, of Ajax, ONT,
claimed third. After sweeping both classes at Black Mountain, Poirier
is off to a terrific start in 2009.
Defending Pro Vet champion Joe Lemieux bounced back from a
tough season opener to win Sunday's final. Lemieux, of St. Johnsbury,
led Newport's Rene Desrochers and Manchester's Brent Herrmann to the
finish making it an all-Vermont podium in Pro Vet. Jennifer Pare rode
her Polaris to victory in the Pro Women's final, with former champion
Michelle Lemieux second and Malone native Janell Smith third. The Pro
classes offered plenty of side-by-side racing in Malone, keeping the
crowd on its feet much of the weekend.
In Semi-Pro action Sunday, CSRA regular David Joanis made his
presence known. Joanis, of Cochrane, ONT, won the Open final over RMR
mainstays Aaron Pfeifer and Brad Davis. Nick Kelley got the holeshot
in a race filled with mechanical failures, but flipped off his sled in
the closing stages.
Corin Todd carried some momentum forward from Black Mountain,
backing up his Open victory there by winning the Semi-Pro Stock final.
Shaun St. Onge dominated the early laps but faded to fourth at the
finish. Joanis was a strong second while Jake Melville claimed third.
Joey Stock earned the Stock 440 victory, with Clinton Ballou and
Andrew Bailey filling out the podium.
Stock (Southside Sales/Polaris), who competes primarily in the
Sport division, was on top of his game in Malone. The young athlete
from Otego, NY, won Saturday's Sport Super Stock final, then repeated
the performance on Sunday. Stock also claimed Sunday's Sport Stock 600
final, with Jake Dasilva and Joe Mosher second and third respectively.
Bailey found redemption with a victory in Sport 500 over Scott Edwards
and Michael Sickler.
In Junior division action Sunday, Leo Patenaude and Nick St.
Amand enjoyed a great deal of success. Patenaude, of Hartland, VT,
earned victories in 10-13 380 Fan and 10-13 600 Fan. St. Amand, of
Fairfield, ME, prevailed in the 14-15 Stock 500 and 16-17 Stock 500
classes. Hunter Patenaude was also celebrating on Sunday, as he
claimed Saturday's 300 Freestyle final over Lucas Livingston and
Hunter Sherwood. Not one to go home empty-handed, Sherwood bounced
back to win Sunday's final in convincing fashion.
Other final round winners from Central series action in Malone
include Joe Klimas (Sport Stock 600 Fan); Robert Desrocher (Plus 35
Masters); Scott Edwards (Plus 25 Stock); Sarah Acker (Jr. Girls 10-13
Stock 600 Fan); KC Anderson (Women's Stock 500); Jennifer Pare (Women
Stock 600 Sat. and Sunday); Amanda Patenaude (Women Stock Novice);
Will Fletcher (Jr. 16-17 Stock 600 Fan); Jake Scott (Jr. 14-15 Stock
600 Fan); and Beau Brand (Trail 600 Saturday and Sunday).
RMR's West series teams were also in action over the weekend in
Malone. Final round winners there include Arctic Cat pilot David
Duchnik (Semi-Pro Open); Jennifer Pare (Women Stock 600); Chad Miller
(Pro Stock and Pro Open); and mighty Jake Dasilva (Semi-Pro Stock).
RMR would like to thank everyone at the Malone Chamber of
Commerce for hosting Round 2 last weekend. The chamber and area
merchants make RMR's annual visit to Malone a real pleasure. The level
of hospitality extended to racers makes this a favorite stop on the
schedule.

10th Annual Busch Sport Scene Snowmobile Ride for Charity on January 31st

10th Annual Busch Sport Scene Snowmobile Ride for Charity on January 31st

(Rangeley, ME) The 10th Annual Busch Sport Scene Snowmobile Ride for Charity
will take place on Saturday, January 31st, at the Club House Restaurant in
Rangeley, Maine. There will be many NASCAR Camping World Series drivers and
team members joining the ride again this year, as well as PASS, ACT and
local track racers. The ride is open to everyone: teams, fans and all, so
make your plans to ride with the best racers in the northeast!

The day will start with an optional 10:30AM drivers meeting at the Club
House - which was formerly the People's Choice (for those of you that
attended in the past). Ride credentials can be purchased for $15 at the Club
House starting at 9AM. You can ride with the 11AM group or ride with your
own group at any time during the day. You can even purchase more than one
ride credential, allowing better odds of holding the winning hand!

The $15 ride credential also gets you admission into the full night of
entertainment at the Club House that evening. There will be dinner specials
and drink specials exclusively for those with a ride credential. The
proceeds from the ride will all go to several great charities including the
Multiple Sclerosis Society, Maine Special Olympics, Travis Roy Foundation,
Rangeley Snowmobile Club, Busch Sport Scene Scholarship Fund and the Camping
World Series Women's Auxiliary and their various charities.

What is a poker run anyway? Once you get a ride credential, you ride to five
separate check points, getting your credential stamped at each checkpoint.
At the end of the ride, you get one card dealt for each stamp on your card.
The person with the best five card poker hand will be the winner! For
example, if the five cards you drew were two jacks, two aces and a two of
hearts, that would be your hand for the event. The winner will be awarded a
full prize package that will include some great snowmobile gear, gift
certificates and more. There will be prizes for second and third best hand
as well.

The ride by snowmachine can be as quick as less than two hours or as long as
you like if you take longer trail routes. Poker Run stops will be announced
soon. Participants will meet back at the Club House at 6 PM. The cards will
be dealt to see who has the best hand, which is announced at 7 PM.

"The event is held rain or shine, snow or not. Many of the participants at
the event don't even ride snowmachines," event organizer and Busch Sport
Scene Publisher George Campbell said. "If anyone is concerned about the
weather, or does not ride snowmobiles, each check point is accessible by car
as well as snowmachine, making it possible for those that do not ride
snowmobiles to participate equally."

Much of the fun takes place inside the Club House during the evening
festivities, which are capped of by a comedy show featuring nationally known
comedians Larry Myles and Rob Steen. Rob is a favorite of this event, having
performed at this event several times in the past. His resume includes
several appearances on the David Letterman Show as well as performances on
MTV and the Comedy Channel.

There will be 100's of raffle prizes and great auction items at the event.
Some of the auction items will include great sports items including race
tickets and signed memorabilia. Among the items included in the auction are
several Patriots items including an NFL football signed by Teddy Bruschi as
well as several Red Sox signed items including one of Jonathan Papelbon.
There will be plenty of great NASCAR items including signed Kevin Harvick,
Joey Logano and Martin Truex items.

There will be lots of great non-sports items as well. Comedian Larry Myles
will also serve as a guest auctioneer! Larry has performed in front of
audiences from Los Angeles and Las Vegas to New York and Boston. He has also
been featured on MTV and appeared on the hit TV show Law & Order. Raffle
tickets for the 100+ raffle items will be just $1 each or $10 for a dozen!

Steve Perry, host of the popular Mainely Motorsports television show, will
be at the annual event with his crew riding & taping for a future episode.
Mainely Motorsports airs on Time Warner Cable channels weekly through out
northern New England.

"This is the tenth year I have been involved in this event," Campbell said.
"We are closing in on $100,000 raised over those years. We have some great
plans for this year's event, including several specials guests and many
terrific auction items. If you are a race fan or a sports fan, you do not
want to miss this year's event. Even if your not, it will be a great time
for everyone and all the proceeds go directly to some great charities."

Credentials for the event can be purchased for $10 in advance either at the
Club House, the Rangeley Chamber or from Busch Sport Scene. The tickets will
be $15 the day of the event. Busch Sport Scene is a New England based sports
magazine. Current Busch Sport Scene subscribers will receive a $5 discount
on the day of the event, as will NASCAR, PASS & ACT team members that

Northeast Motorsports Expo Changes Hands

Northeast Motorsports Expo changes hands for 2010
Tim Attaya passes torch to Steve Perry after 21-year run

AUGUSTA, Maine (Jan. 2, 2009) - After a successful 21-year run
that brought some of the biggest names in auto racing to central
Maine, promoter Tim Attaya is turning over the reigns of his Northeast
Motorsports Expo & Trade Show.
Held at the Augusta Civic Center every January since 1989, the
Northeast Motorsports Expo has become a tradition among northern New
England's racing enthusiasts. Effective at the conclusion of this
year's 21st annual show, the event will be managed and run by well
known and respected motorsports personality Steve Perry.
Attaya and wife Cathy have been synonymous with the Augusta
show since they founded it over two decades ago. Unlike other
racing-related shows, Attaya chose to include all forms of racing
vehicles in his event, bringing in everything from vintage and current
stocks cars, pulling tractors, motocross bikes, drag cars, snowmobiles
and go-karts. If it had an engine and raced within Maine, New
Hampshire or even Vermont, Attaya welcomed it to the show.
At the official announcement, Attaya spoke with passion about
his "baby," and how much he enjoyed the show despite the countless
hours of work involved to put it on. He talked about his choice for a
successor and what it meant to host the unofficial kickoff to each new
year of short track excitement.
"I had three possible buyers for the show," explained Attaya.
"I chose Steve because I felt he would do the most with it. He's
ambitious, has good ideas and has a good working knowledge of the
sport. I had 21 great years, thanks to a lot of help from a host of
dedicated sponsors, staff and fans. I wish Steve all the best in the
future and feel confident he will take the show to new heights."
Attaya says planning for each year's show was time-consuming,
but also led to many lasting friendships from people involved in the
sport. The show became a big part of his life, but he will cherish the
memories from those many weekends in the Civic Center.
"It was very rewarding for me see the reactions from fans when
meeting big-name drivers. We were lucky to have had some of the
sport's biggest heroes come up here to Maine. Fans loved it, and I
enjoyed seeing them smile when getting an autograph or taking a
photo."
Perry has been a life-long race fan and has years of experience
in various aspects of the sport. Just prior to the announcement of
this venture, he spoke about the vision he has for the show and how he
hopes to rejuvenate this once-prestigious annual gathering.
"I was honored when Tim approached me to see if I was
interested in taking over the show," Perry said. "I know what he put
into it for 21 years, and he didn't want just anybody at the helm. I'm
excited about this opportunity to not only continue a great
motorsports tradition, but to bring back the excitement this show once
had by making it attractive to national racers, their sponsors and of
course more fans."
Perry says Attaya's philosophy of including all forms of racing
vehicles and displays is similar to that of his television show. That
philosophy will not change under the direction of SP2 Promotions.
"I feel the inclusion of all types of racing into the show has
always worked. It keeps it interesting for fans and racers from all
those groups. Our goals for the first couple of years are to enhance
the displays, add new vendors and try to bring in a national star
people will want to come see. It will take time and money to achieve
these goals, but with hard work to attract new sponsors and build
momentum, I believe we can bring this show back to where it was during
its heyday."
The dates for the 22nd annual Northeast Motorsports Expo &
Trade Show were also announced here Friday. The show will be held on
Jan. 8-10, 2009. To stay informed throughout 2009 regarding news and
plans, visit the show's Web site at www.northeastmotorsports.net.
