CHARLOTTE, NC (March 11) – The Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super
Late Models and PASS Late Model Trucks will have to wait one week to
begin the 2009 racing season due to inclement weather. This weekend's
forecast for Dillon, SC and much of the Southeast is calling for
cooler temperatures and rain. PASS President Tom Mayberry and Dillon
Motor Speedway owner Ron Barfield have agreed in a joint decision to
postpone this weekend's scheduled South Carolina Clash and PASS South
Awards Dinner. Both events will be pushed back one week and will be
held on March 20-21.
"We feel it is in the best interests of our race teams and fans to
have the South Carolina Clash next week," said Mayberry. "A lot of
folks are looking forward to this race, including some who are
traveling quite a distance to be in Dillon, and Ron and I think we owe
it to everybody to hold off the activities for a week when the weather
is expected to be much, much better."
Next week's festivities surrounding the South Carolina Clash at Dillon
Motor Speedway kick off on Friday, March 20th with gates opening at 1
PM and practice for both the PASS South Super Late Models and PASS
Late Model Trucks from 2 PM to 6PM. The PASS South Awards Dinner will
then be held at 8:30 PM on Friday night at the Kintyre House in
Dillon. On Saturday, March 21st, practice for both divisions will be
from 11 AM to 1:30 PM, qualifying will be at 2:30 PM, and racing will
start at 3 PM. Dillon Motor Speedway is located on SC Highway 9 just
off Interstate 95, exit 193.
