NAPLES ME (6/24/2009) The Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North traveling
road show returns to Scarborough Maine's Beech Ridge Motor Speedway
for round two at the tough third mile, and there's a whole slew of
drivers with different agendas as the series ' nears the season's
half way mark.

Ben Rowe will be looking for his third win in as many starts, and
Johnny Clark is looking to get back on top of his game after a wheel
departed at New Brunswick's' Speedway 660, sending him back across the
border with a fourteenth place finish that dropped the Hallowell ace
from first to third in the standings.

There is no doubt Rowe has momentum on his side. The four time PASS
North Champ leads the 2009 standings in the North, the South, and the
PASS National Championship. Rowe is tough no matter where the series
travels. But Adam Bates may be the driver to stop Rowe's win streak at
two. Bates has shown the necessary consistency to earn a PASS title.
He leads the series in top five finishes with four and hasn't finished
outside the top ten all season. Bates won his first PASS race in the
2008 version of Friday's 150 green flag lap event and finished second
to Chris Staples earlier in the season. He trails Rowe by just two
points in the PASS North Championship chase ( 1074-1072) and Johnny
Clark lurks in third, just one marker back from Bates. With just three
points separating the top three, there could easily be a new point
leader when the heat races are completed

While this pair will ride the Big Mo into Beech Ridge, Chris Staples
will look for a comeback after a last place (22nd) finish at Speedway
660. Don't be surprised if the relative newcomer to PASS super late
model racing contends for a second win Friday night. Speedway 660 was
Staples first finish outside the top ten this season, and this team
has too much talent to stay down for long.

Kelly Moore is another driver that has seen a bad race or two derail
his championship aspirations. Moore suffered a horrendous crash at
White Mountain Motorsports Park but the veteran bounced back at
Speedway 660 with a solid sixth place run. Moore trails Derek Ramstrom
(4th) and Chris Staples (5th) in the standings, but the former Beech
Ridge regular finished third in race number one at the Ridge and he'll
be looking for his first PASS win of 2009 Friday night.

D.J. Shaw is coming off a win and a second place finish in weekly Pro
Series competition at the Ridge, and Shaw lead more than half the
distance earlier this season before fading to fourth at the finish. If
D.J.'s 150 lap package is strong, he'll be a threat for the win this
time around

The speedway's own weekly racing series (Sport Series, Wildcats and
Road Runners) will complete the card. Racing gets the green on a
special day and time, Friday June 26th at 6:00 PM sharp.

Ryan Hayes Picks Up First Career Win at Wiscasset Raceway!

Wiscasset, ME- Ryan Hayes is a busy kid. Not only does he have
the hectic life of a 17 year old Erskine Academy Senior but the
Jefferson, ME resident is also hard at work becoming an Eagle Scout,
playing varsity basketball and being on the track team. Oh yeah and by
the way, he is also busy racing in the U.S. Cellular Mini Track
division at Wiscasset Raceway where he picked up his first career
feature victory Saturday night on Ray Haskell Ford night at the center
of speed. Ryan started on the pole and led every lap of the 15 lap
event, holding off Russ Anderson of Portsmith, NH and Gray's Kevin
Oliver for the win. Anderson and Oliver would finish second and third
respectively while Josh Hajula and Bruce Oren rounded out the top
five.

In the Aable Auto Parts Mini Stock division Waldoboro's Ryan
Ripley was able to overcome lapped traffic and a lot of pressure from
Thomas True to get the feature victory. True would finish second and
Mike Mason would get his first Wiscasset Raceway trophy finishing in
the third spot. Mike Wilson took home fourth in his first trip to
Wiscasset this year and Pete McCollet would finish fifth after coming
from the back of the pack after a racing incident with point leader
Kevin Douglass.

The New England Transmission's Strictly Street division saw a new
face in victory lane this year. Litchfield's Wally Henderson got his
first win at Wiscasset Raceway this year. The win was Wally's first in
six years. The win did not come easy for the veteran driver though as
he had to hold off point leader Mike Moody over the closing laps.
Moody would finish second with Mike Hodgkin's driving for Maurice
Young Motorsports taking home third. Wally's son Jamie Henderson would
end up fourth with Ian Bresnehan fifth.

Your Verizon Wireless Super Street division had current point
leader Shawn Austin picking up the checkered flag. About half a
straightway back from him Jeremy Glasier of Appleton held of Josh
St.Clair to take home second. Allan Moeller Jr. would get fourth with
Jason Gaboury settling for the fifth position.

The Clark's Car Crushing Pro Stock's put on a great show. Scott
Moore and Jeff Burgess ran side by side for about twenty laps before
the two tangled coming into turn one. With the caution period lasting
a long time and the rain starting to come down track officials decided
to call the race. Charlie Colby would end up getting the feature win.
Youngster Dave Farrington turned in his best career finish coming home
second. Third would go to Joe Creamer. Moore would end up fourth with
Scott King in fifth.

OXFORD, Maine - The same, old Mini Stock domination by Justin Karkos
and a fresh, new Late Model winner highlighted Saturday night at
Oxford Plains Speedway.
Karkos cruised to victory by a margin of more than nine seconds in the
Subway 100 main event.
He was forced to share the spotlight, however, with 18-year-old Nick
Brown, who became one of the youngest headline division feature
winners in OPS history with his 40-lap triumph.
Mike Short (Strictly Stock), Jim Davis Jr. (Outlaw) and Cathy
Manchester (Ladies) also scored victories.
Karkos drove around former division champion Dan Morris on lap 36 and
set sail from the second-place battle between Morris, Jimmy Childs and
Ashley Marshall.
With no caution flags to slow his progress over the second half of the
event, Karkos' only threat was slower traffic. He calmly slowed his
pace just enough over the final 20 laps to steer clear and still
finish a half-lap ahead of runner-up Childs.
It was the third win in the last four weeks for Karkos, who has led at
least one lap in five of the first six races after winning seven times
in 2008.
"That was fun. I think we put on a show," said Karkos, who bowed to
the crowd Kyle Busch-style with his pit crew at the start-finish line.
Ashley Marshall made a late-race move around Morris to claim third,
with Jake Burns edging Shane Kaherl for fifth. Kaherl was the last
driver on the lead lap.
Brown missed a race late last month to attend his senior prom at Morse
High School. Mercifully, graduation ceremonies were last Sunday,
preventing the second-year Late Model racer from having to skip a
second Saturday night.
He wouldn't have wanted to miss this one for the world. Brown snagged
the lead from Ron Charpentier Jr. on a restart shortly before the
halfway point and survived another resumption with 10 laps to go for
the breakthrough victory.
"You can't imagine the smile on my face right now. I can't believe I'm
even out here after all those years of watching up there (in the
grandstands)," said Brown, who was a multi-time champion in Oxford's
JARRacing Photography Go Kart Series in his early teens.
Shawn Knight matched his Late Model career-best second place in
controversial fashion, as contact from his front bumper sent mentor
and runner-up Tim Brackett for a spin with under two laps remaining.
The two drivers typically park side-by-side in the OPS garage.
"I feel terrible, and I hope he'll understand," Knight said. "I was
having to hold the car in gear on that last green-flag run and steer
it with one hand, and unfortunately that's what happened. I think I
had enough car to get to the outside and fight for the win without
that problem."
Kenny Harrison held off four-time champion Travis Adams by a fender
for third, with Shawn Martin fifth.
Short earned a measure of vindication for last week, when he was
disqualified from a Strictly Stock win after the post-race inspection.
This time, he dominated the final 21 laps to snag his second official
victory in three weeks by a wide margin over Tommy Tompkins.
Larry Emerson hopped the curb to miss a wild scramble in the final
turn to claim third, less than a foot in front of reigning champion
Skip Tripp. Tripp's team scrambled to get the car ready in time for
the feature after a crash at the end of his qualifying race.
Davis won his third straight Outlaw start, backing up consecutive
triumphs in the Wednesday night Acceleration Series.
David Childs (second) and Chris Burgess (third) whittled Davis'
dominant early lead to nothing but fell a car length shy.
"My set-up wasn't real hot tonight," said Davis. "I got out to a
pretty big lead, and all of a sudden I saw those guys coming and said
I'd better step it up."
Twenty-three cars started the caution-free Outlaw scramble, with Guy
Childs and Jerry Goss rounding out the top five.
Manchester led all 20 laps of the Ladies tangle, matching second-place
Dottie Patria and third-place Vanna Brackett in the wins category with
her second of the season.
"Starting up front was a stroke of good luck," said Manchester. "I
love it when Dottie and I finish one-two."
Patria, the defending Ladies champion, secured that status by passing
Brackett to the outside in the final corner.

Scarborough,Maine- Mike Ramsey used a late race caution flag to his
advantage and captured the annual 50 lap race for the Wildcat division
on Saturday night. D.J. Shaw, Bobby Nadeau and Matt Dow also shared
victory lane on this fog filled evening of racing.

Shawn Gilpatrick jumped into the lead at the wave of the green flag
for the 50 lap Wildcat race. Gilpatrick would soon go under attack
from Gary Babineau as the 2 leaders started a side by side duel for
the lead at lap 9. Babineau went in front on the 10th trip around the
oval but Gilpatrick still had the inside lane.

Gilpatrick poked his nose back in front on lap 15 and then Babineau
went back in front 1 lap later as Gilpatrick wiggled exiting turn 4.
Babineau was now in cruise control opening up a comfortable lead as
the race appeared to be headed to a green-to-checkered run. The
complexion of the race changed when the caution flag waved on lap 46
setting up a Babineau- Mike Ramsey front row restart.

Coming to the green flag, Ramsey got a quicker start and took the lead from

Babineau but it was not over yet. Ramsey was driving hard and
washing up in the corners and Babineau was trying to get to the inside
as they swapped paint and bumps for the final 4 laps until Ramsey got
to the finish a half car length in front for the win. Babineau was
second with Darin Kilton third, Gilpatrick fourth and Dan Bean fifth.

D.J. Shaw won for the first time at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway
Saturday night taking a dominating victory. Walt Pugsley led for the
first 14 laps until Dan McKeage took over on lap 14 following a
restart. McKeage would stay in front until lap 20 when Shaw went to
the inside and took over. Once in front Shaw pulled away from the
field in commanding fashion despite having to start the race at the
rear of the field.

Bill Rodgers finished second with McKeage third. Bub Bilodeau and Jay
Sands were fourth and fifth at the finish.

Bobby Nadeau passed Frank Wear 21 laps into the 35 lap Sport Series
race and went on for his first checkered flag of the season. The race
was slowed 5 times by the caution flag and despite the field staying
bunched up Nadeau was able to cruise into the win. Wear finished
second and Doug Wolfe third. Russ Morse was fourth and Dalton Gagnon
fifth at the end of the 35 lap run.

Matt Dow rounded out the evening of winners as he took down the 20 lap
Road Runner feature race honors. Dow took over the lead on lap 3 and
was chased to all the way from that point to the finish by Shawn
Brackett. Point leader Ray Letellier was third with Clayton Loubier
fourth. Ed Connolly rounded out the top 5 finishers.

Naples ME (June 14) Ben Rowe hung out in the top five for the majority
of Saturday night's Pro All Stars Series (PASS) 200 at Geary New
Brunswick's Speedway 660 and took the lead from Kirk Thibeau for good
on lap 149 to claim his second PASS North super late model win of
2009.

Adam Bates chased Rowe to the checkers and Nova Scotian John Flemming
returned to PASS competition with a third place finish. Kirk Thibeau
hung on to finish fourth with Travis Benjamin fifth. Kelly Moore
rebounded from a spectacular wreck at the touring series' last outing
at White Mountain Motorsports Park with a sixth place run. Lonnie
Sommerville dominated the first half of the 200 lap grind, but a flat
shortly after the half way break set him back to seventh Richie
Dearborn, Shawn Tucker, and Greg Fahey completed the top ten.

Problems beset a number of the PASS front runners. Johnny Clark lost a
right front wheel on lap 68, sending the point leader into the sand
banks. Clark returned many laps down to salvage a 14th place finish.
DJ Shaw started on the pole but suffered a flat tire and lost several
laps, eventually finishing fifteenth. An early race wreck claimed
Cassius Clark, local racer Brent Wiggins and Scott Alexander. Local
super late model favorite Dave O'Blenis was out at the half-way mark.

Nine cars completed the 200 lap distance. The lead changed hands six
times amongst five drivers; eleven cautions slowed the race. DJ Shaw,
Kelly Moore and Adam Bates claimed the qualifying races.

Next weekend it's a doubleheader for the PASS super late models. The
PASS South warriors head for Georgia's New Senoia Raceway for the
Dixie 150 on Saturday night June 20th. The PASS North teams will take
on "Maine's toughest oval", Unity Raceway on Sunday afternoon June
21st for the NAPA 150. The PASS Mod and PASS Sportsman series complete
that card, and there are two-for-one admission coupons available now
at all northern New England NAPA stores.

Fredericton N.B., June 13, 2009-It was another great turnout tonight
for the Pro All Star Series 200. After last year's Pro All Star Series
event was cancelled due to rain and was unable to be re-scheduled fans
were excited to see racing from drivers from Eastern Canada & the
United States. Pro All Star Series visits many speedways throughout
the United States each year and Speedway 660 was very lucky to have
them come here, as this was their only stop at a Canadian speedway in
2009.

Fans saw regular weekly points racing in the Coast Tire Street Stock
and Martin's Home Heating Sportsman Division. These two classes
feature some of the most exciting racing action each week and this
week was no exception.

Fans saw some very exciting racing the Coast Tire Street Stock
division. It was really a family affair tonight and the big story was
Heidi Cooper winning the 20 lap feature holding off the hard charger
#88 of Brian Fox and #11 Rocket Rodney Ness. Heidi started the race on
the pole and led every lap of the caution free race. This was a very
special evening for Heidi, not only because she dominated the feature
and took her #1car to the Auto Pride Victory Lane but that she got to
share a podium finish with her father. Both Heidi and Rodney have had
podium finishes in the past but not at the same time. This is what
racing is all about.

Randy Moore was the big story in the Martin's Home Heating Sportman
division as he started on the outside pole and sprinted out on the
high side to take the early lead in the 30 lap feature. Moore
dominated the race holding off challengers and leading the race until
the only caution of the evening on lap 24 when Dave Biggar and Cody
Price got together and spun between turn 3 and 4. In the closing laps,
Moore was being challenged for the lead by Cal Hatfield. The two of
them battled back and forth until the last lap when the two got
together and Hatfield spun coming to the checkers in turn 3 and 4.
This resulted in Moore being disqualified, which gave the win to Myles
Harris. Finishing a close second was Michael Banks and rounding out
the top three was Glyn Nott.

It's not over till the last lap. This was the case in the Pro All Star
Series 200. In the early laps of the race pole sitter, DJ Shaw and
Kelly Moore battled for the lead. It wasn't long before Saint. John's
Lonnie Sommerville had moved up to challenge for the lead from Kelly
Moore. Sommerville soon had the #28 Ford of Kirk Thibeau knocking on
his door. The two of them battled for most of race. Restart after
restart they would take turns sprinting out into the lead. Quietly
moving up was the #4 of Ben Rowe. He had been in the top five for most
of the race. Throughout all the cautions and mechanical problems
Sommerville had remained up front until after the break at half way.
After that Sommerville experienced minor mechanical problems causing
him to lose positions and eventually spin out. After the problem was
fixed Sommerville began moving back up towards the front but ending up
a little short. He still had a very good finish after all that.

In the closing laps of the race Ben Rowe had moved in into the lead
and never looked back. Rowe held off the #98 of Adam Bates and the
#97 belonging to John Flemming for the win. Rowe is a 4 time Pass
Tour points champ and has won many races. Of the local cars Lonnie
Sommerville finished in the highest position finishing seventh on the
grid. Also, Shawn Tucker finished in 9th and Greg Fahey rounded out
the top ten.

The Pro All Star Series next race on the schedule is in Unity, ME.

Sunday, June 14 will be the second day of the double header weekend
featuring the Enduro 200.

White washes Oxford Networks LM field; Childs holds off Karkos in Mini showdown

OXFORD, Maine - Jeff White's total destruction of his Oxford Networks
Late Model ride last week was the worst thing that could have happened
... for his competition.
The White Lightning race team put the No. 50 back together better and
faster than before, as evidenced by a convincing victory in Saturday
night's 40-lap feature victory at Oxford Plains Speedway.
White, who picked up his first top-division win in 10 seasons of
trying late last summer, took the lead on lap 5 and dominated the
caution-free encounter. He beat former OPS champion Tim Brackett to
the checkers by a margin of more than 1.3 seconds.
"If you saw the race last week, you know how bad (the wreck) was. We
busted our humps to get here," White said.
Teenager Ben Ashline finished on the podium for the second straight
week, taking away third from impressive Gerald Parlin over the final
five laps. Parlin was a career-best fourth, with four-time champion
and two-time 2009 feature winner Travis Adams making a late-race
charge in the outside lane to fifth.
One winning streak continued and another ended in accompanying
Championship Series feature action.
Mike Short backed up his 100-lap victory in last week's Allen's Coffee
Flavored Brandy Strictly Stock main event with a 30-lap triumph on Sun
Journal Night.
Short went three-wide to move from fifth to second on lap 10 before
taking the top spot away from Kim Tripp on the following circuit.
Nobody was able to challenge Short without the help of a caution down
the stretch. Reigning division champion Skip Tripp was second, with
B.J. Chapman holding off 2007 champ Tommy Tompkins -- making his first
start of the season -- for third. Jeff Merrill emerged from a tense,
five-car battle for fifth.
Jimmy Childs, who returned this year the Allen's Mini Stock division
where he won a pair of division championships, snapped Justin Karkos'
two-race run when he held off the red-hot Karkos by less than a car
length.
It was the first win of the season for Childs, who scored a Late Model
victory in 2008.
Darrell Moore was third after his runner-up effort a week ago,
followed by former champion Dan Morris and Larry Melcher. After a
rough 30-lap race one week ago, the Minis went flag-to-flag without a
stoppage.
Troy Jordan (Macdonald Motors Runnin' Rebel) and Ryan Farrar (Call of
the Wild RV Center Sport Truck) were tops in Agren Appliance Saturday
Showdown action.
Jordan led his teammates Matt Dufault and Jason Berry in a 1-2-3 sweep

Twenty-five cars started the race, with Derek Cook dominating early
before his mechanical woes allowed Jordan to speed away with ease.
Charlie Webster took fourth, with Gerard Cote enjoying his second
straight fifth-place finish.
Farrar ascended to the top of the podium after three consecutive
runner-up finishes to start the season. John Lizotte, Jeff Schmidt,
Herb Farrar and Kevin Oliver completed the top five in the 10-lap
sprint.
OPS gets the green flag again this Wednesday, June 17 with the
Acceleration Series at 6:30 p.m. Next Saturday's Double T Fence Night
includes a 100-lap Mini Stock showcase.
