Pelletier, Davis, Hendsbee and Rich first-time 2009 winners on fast Friday

OXFORD, Maine – Four drivers captured their first feature wins of the
season in their current division on a closely contested Friday night
of JARRacing Photography Go Kart Series action at Oxford Plains
Speedway.
Dan Pelletier Jr. pulled off the most exciting move of many on the
evening, getting underneath leaders Charlie Tyler and Brandon Douglas
in three-wide formation with only three laps remaining in the 13-kart
Unrestricted main event.
Pelletier, a champion in three different youth divisions, pedaled on
to his initial victory of the season in the 15-and-up Sportsman ranks.
Tyler finished second with rookie Douglas third.
Troy Davis, like Pelletier a frequent winner and multi-time champion
in the entry-level divisions, captured his first victory in only his
second try at Gold Plate.
Jacob Hendsbee (Blue Plate) and Zachary Rich (Purple Plate) also
visited victory lane for the first time on the young campaign.
Mike Ricker (Star Champ) and Kyle Mooney (Box Stock) each pulled off
their second triumph. Mooney has four in all through the first three
weeks.
Davis=2 0swapped the lead with Spencer Thompson three times before
taking command for good on lap 7 of the Gold Plate encounter.
Thompson, also a champ in supporting classes, held off opening-night
winner Avery Spear for second.
Hendsbee led all 20 laps of the Blue Plate battle while Wade
Blanchette, Evan Armington and Brandon Varney tussled behind him.
It was heat winner and division point leader Blanchette getting the
best of the runner-up battle. Armington backed up last week's victory
with a third-place trophy.
Rich led the first half of the Purple Plate scramble, then lost it to
Varney for three circuits before reclaiming it for the duration.
Mooney shadowed him much of the way in pursuit of his third straight
win in the division to start the season, but the young lion settled
for second. Owen Poisson enjoyed his best run to date in third.
Ricker lost the Star Champ point to Stephen Beattie, but night-long
ignition problems sent Beattie to the pit during a lap 16 caution flag
for Douglas' spin.
That allowed Ricker to reclaim the top spot and his second win of the
spring. Douglas, making his first Star Champ start, stayed a wide
margin in front of the ailing Beattie for second.
M ooney watched Ethan Matot and Ethan Brown lead the Box Stock sprint
early, but he had no problems breezing to his second win after moving
to the head of the class on lap 3.
Heat winner Chase Staples put up a worthy fight before claiming
second, with Matot third.
The JARRacing series resumes next Friday, June 19 at 6:30 p.m.
OPS cranks it up again Saturday with Sun Journal Night. Five divisions
of racing hit the historic, 3/8-mile oval starting at 6:30 p.m.

OXFORD, Maine - The cars and even the technology have changed since
Jim Davis Jr. last competed in the Acceleration Series at Oxford
Plains Speedway. Getting to victory lane in the Chimney Tech Outlaw
division where Davis was a champion six years ago still isn't a
problem.
Driving a car he once built and pronounced a little bit outdated,
Davis nevertheless held off Chris Burgess to capture the first of two
20-lap features in the headline division on a cool, misty Wednesday
night.
In what is believed to be a first for the 11-year old midweek series,
all seven features (130 green-flag laps) were completed without a
caution flag.
Dan Brown, Zach Bowie and Addison Bowie chased Davis and Burgess
across the line in the hotly contested Outlaw 'B' feature.
Outlaw 'A' produced the closest finish of the night when Jim Drake and
rookie Ryan Robbins ran side-by-side through the entire final lap,
bumping in the fourth turn before Drake crossed the line first.
That result was soured when both cars failed the post-race technical
inspection, however, handing the victory to Jerry "The Shoe" Goss.
David Childs moved up to second, maintaining his streak of five races
to start the season without a finish worse than runner-up.
Fred Clavet, Chris Coolidge and Bubba Collins rounded our the top five.
Kevin Oliver highlighted other action with his first OPS victory in
six years of trying in the Call of the Wild RV Center Sport Truck
division.
"Flyin'" Ryan Farrar settled for his third straight second-place
finish, while Ross "The Boss" Spurling saw his winning streak end with
a third-place trophy. John Lizotte edged Jeff Schmidt for fifth.
John Childs and early-season dominator Kyle Hewins took the two
Macdonald Motors Runnin' Rebel features.
Childs spent most of his 20-lap race with Derek Cook as a shadow. Cook
didn't get through the tech inspection line unscathed, vaulting
Charlie Webster and Craig Bartlett to second and third, respectively.
Nate Dubuc was fourth and Roger Bourgoin fifth, the best career finish
for each in the four-cylinder division.
Hewins needed less than half the event to charge from his mid-pack
starting position to the lead. He cruised to his third win in four
2009 starts.
Early leader Brady Romano faced no challenges for second. Troy Jordan
landed third for the second straight Wednesday, followed by teammate
and opening-night winner Matt Dufault and Gerard Cote.
Cathy Manchester nearly lapped the field in the Allen's Coffee
Flavored Brandy Ladies feature, although she had some help when the
2-3-4 battle of Christina Spaulding, Vanna Brackett and Dottie Patria
briefly ventured off the track in turn one around the halfway point.
The trio straightened it out without any damage. Brackett steered
through the near-disaster to run second. Patria finally wheeled around
Spaulding on the final lap to claim third, with Missy Blash fifth.
Bill Grover joined Oliver as a first-time Oxford winner by ruling the
10-lap Goulet Home Inspections Renegade sprint. Division champion
Jason Hannigan was a close second throughout after following Grover
past early leader Gerard Cote.
Cote kept Bob Morey at bay for third.
OPS returns to action Saturday with Sun Journal Night. Five divisions
of racing hit the track at 6:30 p.m.
The Acceleration Series continues Wednesday, June 17 at 6:30 p.m.

Naples ME ( June 9, 2009) The super cars and stars of the Pro All
Stars Series (PASS) North return to Speedway 660 in the Geary Woods
0f New Brunswick Canada on Saturday June 13th and the super late
model series regulars are looking forward to their only event in the
Maritimes for 2009.

PASS has two previous appearances at Speedway 660 (a 2007 event was
lost to rain) and some familiar faces were on the podium. The late
Scott Fraser topped the field in 2003, with Ben Rowe second and Johnny
Clark in third. Rowe came home first in the series' inaugural
appearance in 2002, with "Sud'n" Sam Sessions in the runner up spot
and Kirk Thibeau third.

While this will be the first extra distance PASS sanctioned event at
Speedway 660, PASS regulars have fared well in the tracks annual open
competition Peterbilt 250. Johnny Clark has a win in the 2007 edition,
and Kirk Thibeau has visited victory lane in Speedway 660's extra
distance event as well.

Clark, Rowe and Thibeau will all be on hand for Saturday's showdown,
and entries have been filed for Travis Benjamin, Kelly Moore, Richie
Dearborn, Super Sophomore DJ Shaw, Adam Bates, Scott Alexander, Rookie
John Danbrowski and Nick Ribbe.

Cassius Clark, Chris Staples, Rookie Steve Legendre and Derek Ramstrom
are all expected to make the trip to take on the Maritime racers on
their home turf. Shawn Turple, Lonnie Somerville, John Flemming and
Marty Prevost have all competed successfully with the PASS touring
regulars this season.

After four of the fourteen event 2009 PASS North schedule, Johnny
Clark is on top of the points heap , leading a surprisingly strong
Chris Staples by sixteen points (875-858). Derek Ramstrom trails
Staples by just six points in third. Ben Rowe sits in fourth, two
points back from Ramstrom (852-850) and Adam Bates rounds out the top
five with 849. Clark has two feature wins (Unity Raceway, Speedway 95)
while Staples (Beech Ridge Motor Speedway) and a resurgent Rowe
(White Mountain Motorsports Park) each have a win a piece.

Gates open at 1:00 PM for the Pro All Stars 200, with practice slated
from 3:00 until 6:00 PM. The racing goes green at 7:00 PM. The
Speedway is located at 588 Branch Road in Geary, New Brunswick,

Wiscasset, ME- Wiscasset Raceway hosted another great event on
Saturday, June 6th. On top of it being a great day outside for racing
action, Wiscasset Raceway also had the Kora mini racer there to help
raise money for the Shriners on Napa Auto Parts night.
In the U.S. Cellular Mini Truck division it was Chad Binette picking
up the feature victory for the second week in a row in his #96 truck.
Rookie Ryan Hayes would cross the line in second, giving the youngster
out of Jefferson, ME. His third straight top 3 finish and after
missing last week Kevin Oliver came back to grab 3rd . Josh Harjula
and Jon Reynolds would finish 4th and 5th.
The Verizon Wireless Super Street division started out with a bang as
several cars made contact shortly after the start/finish line on lap
one leaving then current point leader Brian Fortin out for the rest of
the night. Opening day winner Shawn Austin would go on to win his
second race of the year. 2007 division champion Bernie Dinsmore would
finish second just ahead of Jeremy Glasier who would take home 3rd.
Allen Moeller Jr. would finish 4th and last weeks apparent winner Ryan
Gero would grab 5th.
The Clarks Car Crushing Pro-Stocks had a lot of good side by side
racing though the entire race but in the end it would be the defending
champ Randy Turner picking up his second win a row with a vary excited
Charlie Colby in 2nd. Scott King turned in another good run as he
would take home 3rd. Jeff Burgess and Ryan Deane would round out the
top 5. Big news surrounding the Pro-Stocks. The defending champion of
The Center of Speed 300 has confirmed that he will be fielding an
entree for this years big event on August 16th.
The Aable Auto Parts Mini Stock's division saw Waldoboro's Ryan Ripley
grab the lead from Natasha Dyer early on in the race and he would hold
onto that lead to become the division third different winner this
year. 15 year old Natasha Dyer of Arrowsic did manage to hold on for
second. She held off 2007 division Champion Kevin Douglass for the
better part of the race. Douglass would get 3rd followed by Thomas
True of Wiscasset and defending champion Dylan Lancaster of Skowhegan.
In the New England Transmissions Strictly Street division Carl
McAlpine who won a 50 lap feature the night before at Unity Raceway
made it two for two this weekend as he beat point leader Mike Moody to
pick up the feature victory at the "Center of Speed". Moody would
finish 2nd with Unity regular Dustin Hubbard 3rd. Jamie Henderson
would finish 4th and Ian Bresnehan of Bath would round out the top 5.
The Steel's Real Rod's and Custom's Late Model division feature race
was full of action right from the green to the checkered flag. Not
only did the race involve great side by side racing action but a few
hard wrecks as well. The then top two in points T.J. Watson and
Maurice Young were involved in a bad wreck in turn three as Watson's
car was sideways and Young had no were to go. That ended both drivers
night. After mechanical issues the last two weeks Duane Love was able
to capture the win, his first since 2006. Ajay Picard driving to help
support the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital would get 2nd with Seth
Raven coming home 3rd. Adam Chadboune 4th and Tyler Robbins of
Montville had an impressive run finishing 5th.

Barre, VT – NASCAR Sprint Cup point leader Tony Stewart told
GWC blogger Travis Barrett at Dover, Delaware last week that he is
excited about his upcoming June 25th visit to Thunder Road. Stewart
will compete in the CARQUEST Governor's Cup 150 with 30 of the best
Late Model teams of the American Canadian and Thunder Road regulars.

Stewart, coming off his first NASCAR Sprint Cup victory as a car owner
at Pocono Raceway last Sunday, is now perhaps the premiere racing star
of the NASCAR Cup circuit. Stewart transcends 'old school' drivers
like Dale Earnhardt, Rusty Wallace and Darrell Waltrip and the new
breed drivers like Carl Edwards, the Busch brothers and Jimmy Johnson.
Stewart has raced in multiple disciplines of racecars, including Indy
open wheel cars, sprint cars, and all forms of stock cars. He has made
it clear to track owners that he is coming to Thunder Road to race.

The appearance by Stewart at Thunder Road will highlight the track's
50th Anniversary season. Thunder Road would appear to fit Tony
Stewart's passionate love for racing like a glove. Tough and
challenging, lots of history, heavy-duty competition, along with avid
and knowledgeable race fans ---- Tony Stewart is expected to have a
lot of fun at the CARQUEST Governor's Cup 150. Thunder Road is selling
a 50th Anniversary souvenir ticket to mark the special occasion.
Stewart will attempt to be the first non-Vermont driver to take the
Cup out of the home state. With the appearance of Tony Stewart
competing in the Governor's Cup, Thunder Road has expanded its parking
lot to nearly double the size of the main lot. In anticipation of this
historic night of racing, Thunder Road has added another 500 seats to
the already largest spectator venue in the state of Vermont. The local
divisions will share the spotlight at the Governor's Cup and will run
extended lap features only on race night.

Stewart will be driving an American Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Model car
prepared by Joey Pole Racing (JPR) from Hudson, New Hampshire. Stewart
will drive the same car that Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. drove to the pole
position in the Chittenden Milk Bowl in 2008. "We have spent a lot of
time since March getting this car as near perfect as we can for Tony
Stewart. He is definitely our kind of racer, and I think he will be
pleased with the car. Actually, our team is as excited about watching
him race at Thunder Road as we are at getting the car set up for him.
It will be a real experience for Joey to be able to tell NASCAR Cup
Champion Tony Stewart how to get around Thunder Road!! We can't wait
to meet him and share a few laughs", said Joe 'Pole', Sr.

The 50th Anniversary CARQUEST Governor's Cup 150 will post $3,000 to
win and the best of Thunder Road and ACT teams will be looking to lock
up a qualified spot in the ACT INVITATIONAL to be held on September 19
at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The Governor's Cup winner will
join all ACT Tour winners, ACT Castrol Series winners, and other
invited teams to participate in the inaugural 50-mile ACT Invitational
at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Saturday, September 19 during
the NASCAR Chase weekend. This will be the first time local Late
Model teams will have a chance to race at the only Super Speedway in
New England. "If Tony wins the Governor's Cup, the JPR car will be
waiting for him at NHMS if he wants to have some Saturday fun, said
Joe Pole, "Now that would be something to see if he decides he wants
to show us around the 'magic mile."

Gates will open at Thunder Road on June 25th at 4 PM; post time is
scheduled for 6 PM. The CARQUEST Governor's Cup 150 is slated to begin
at 8PM. Advanced tickets for the Governor's Cup are now on sale at
only $17 for Adults and day of race tickets will be sold at $20.
Children's (6-12) tickets are $5, under 6 are admitted free. Thunder
Road has announced that it will hold a minimum of 2,000 tickets for
race day fans.

Thunder Road opens its 50th season of Thursday night racing this
coming Thursday night, June 11th, with the Ferguson Waterworks trophy
dashes. Gates open at 5 PM, post time is 6:30. Admission is only $9.50
for Adults, $3.00 for kids and a family ticket for two adults and two
kids is only $20 dollars for the 16-event show at the 'Nation's Site
of Excitement'.

Watkins Glen, N.Y. (June 7, 2009): Brett Moffitt has
already set records as the youngest driver to ever win a race and the
youngest driver to ever win a pole. Following a third place finish in
the Tioga Downs Casino 125 at Watkins Glen International road course,
Moffitt is now the youngest driver to ever lead the NASCAR Camping
World Series East point standings. It's a record that Joey Logano, who
was 16 years, 11 months, and 4 days old when he first led the series,
held until now.

"It's awesome," said Moffitt after learning he took over
the point standings. "The bigger point lead we can get right now makes
it an easier walk to go at the end of the season. Hopefully now we
have a nice little cushion and we're able to go hard at some races and
real conservative to keep that lead."

Moffitt kicked off the weekend with a qualifying lap of
118.504 mph to earn a fourth place starting position in the 22-car
field. However, the team found an exhaust leak in the car following
time trial procedures and opted to go the rear of the field so that
they could fix it.

"We cracked the exhaust actually and it was right below
the driver's area. There aren't too many cars here. It put us to the
back but it wasn't too far to go," he said.

At the drop of the green, Moffitt catapulted from the rear
of the field to eighth in less than ten laps, and was running in the
top-five by lap 22.

"There were a lot of openings to make a move. I wasn't
going to make a move that I thought was going to risk the car, but
where I could, I did and it paid off," Moffitt said about his early
progress.

On a restart at lap 35, Moffitt wheeled his No. 44 Castle
Packs Power Chevrolet into fourth, where he remained until the final
lap when he got by Patrick Long for the third position.

"This is quite the place," said Moffitt. "It's a really
fast track and it's a lot of fun to come and do this instead of just
running in circles. Overall it was a good day and hopefully we can get
a few more of these."

Moffitt signed on with ASM Motorsports for a limited
schedule in 2009, but hopes to secure a sponsor this month in order to
finish out the season.

"We are going to assess what our options are after the
race at New Hampshire, but without sponsorship, it doesn't look good
at finishing out the season. We're really hoping that a company can
see the benefit of a partnership with me and ASM Motorsports. We've
been setting records and winning races, but without that partnership,
we won't be able to continue doing it."

Wrenn Picks Up First Pro-4 Win at Seekonk

Seekonk, MA – The Pro Four Modified Racing Series of New England
(PFMNE) took to the "Cement Palace," Seekonk Speedway, on Saturday,
June 6, for their fourth event of the 2009 season. A strong field of
19 four-cylinder modifieds signed into the paddock area for the extra
distance main presented by Kraze Korlacki Speed Equipment. "Stormin'
Norman" Wrenn made it four for four this season, picking up his first
career victory at the famed Massachusetts oval.

The #73 of Jim Darlington wasn't able to make it out after the
practice due to motor problems. The remaining 18 cars competed in two
qualifying heats. In the first heat, a three-car wreck collected the
#34 of Mark Giordano, #16 of Stan Mertz, and the #99 of Billy Joerres.
The wreck proved terminal for Giordano, but Mertz and Joerres both
were able to repair their Limited Pro Fours before the main event.

The 30-lap main event started 17 strong, with the #13 of George
Sherman on the pole and the #10 of Brian Vincent on the outside. At
the drop of the green, the #4 of Cory Cleary began challenging the #07
of Phil Lausier for the fourth position. Meanwhile, Mertz advanced
from his scratch starting spot, passing #19 of Tim D'Amico.

The first of four yellows slowed the race on lap six when the #12 of
Rob Richardi, Jr. spun around coming out of turn two. Richardi, Jr.
would go pitside, but return several laps later after repairs were
made to his #12 family-owned racecar. On the restart, Vincent powered
by Sherman, placing his machine firmly in the lead. While those two
duked it out for the top stop, the #1m of Wrenn continued to improve
from his 11th place starting position. By the time lap nine was
complete, Wrenn had already passed both Cleary and Sherman, and had
his eyes set on Vincent, who continued to show the way. As Wrenn
began to challenge Vincent for the lead, the second caution flag of
the event was displayed when the orange #4 of Cory Cleary lost its
motor, setting him on the sidelines for the remaining 18 laps.

On the restart, the #07x of Robin Berghman—who was competing in her
first event of the 2009 season—moved under Lausier to firmly plant
herself inside of the top five. Just shy of the halfway signal, the
#29 of Matt Sagar rebounded from pitting early on to wrestle the
seventh position away from the #11 of Keith Caruso. Further up in the
field, Vincent got loose coming off of turn four, allowing Sherman to
take over his spot. On the very next lap, Vincent got loose again,
but this time he was unable to save it, necessitating the third
caution flag of the event on lap 21.

Problems on the restart caused the field to get bottled up, damaging
the cars of Vincent and the #83 of Franky Perry, resulting in the
final yellow flag of the event as both cars came to rest on the
racetrack. This restart was a success with Sherman proving to be no
challenge for Wrenn. When the five to go signal was shown, Berghman
made her move under Sagar on the frontstretch, and completed her pass
on the backstretch to move into third position. When the checkers
were unfurled it was Wrenn picking up his fourth consecutive victory,
followed by Sherman, Berghman, Sagar, and Lausier who rounded out the
top five. Positions six through ten went to Caruso, Mertz, Mark
Charette, Richardi, Jr., and D'Amico. Eric McGovern, Vincent, Perry,
Joerres, Cleary, Henry Sirignano, and Dan Meservey rounded out the
rest of the field.

On Saturday, June 20, 2009, the PFMNE will make their second
appearance of the season at Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, New
Hampshire.
